Lots of WIWs: Trendy Classic Colour & Pattern

It's been a while. Life with a puppy and new sibling for Yorkie Sam is beautifully rich, full and hectic. I wouldn't have it any other way :)

Seattle has had its fair share of great Spring and Summer weather. It's been hot, warm, mild and cool, which you will see reflected in the layers and fabrics of these outfits. Sunny, cloudy, and wet.

Fully vaccinated, I am cautiously working with clients in-person again, so extra busy. I am not complaining!

I LOVE Spring and Summer dressing and shopping! My favourite.

I LOVE fluidly tailored outfits. Can't handle too much, or too little structure. The balance is deliberate and I am very fussy about it. My outfits must move and flow, but be tailored in all the right places. Waving to Jonesy, Katerina, Slim Cat and Irina, who feel similarly about their own fluidly tailored outfits!

I LOVE to wear modern classics in unexpected colours and combinations, and remix them with fun-to-me trends.

I LOVE to remix my new and old wardrobe items, and create current combinations. Waving to Tanya!

I walk everywhere, and do errands in all sorts of weather - with doggies in tow. Absolutely no heels. No sandals either. Prefer my feet protected for my urban walking lifestyle. Fashion sneakers and crossbody bag most of the time, but boots, ballet flats and loafers are great too.

My soft edge comes from my hair and eyewear. Waving to Suz! I straightened my hair for a change. I prefer it soft and wavy, but like this too. No more lipstick or tinted moisturizer. I am embracing my uneven skin tone, and natural lip colour - and feel great about it.

I saw a client in fashion sneakers last week, and it was okay. I prefer a dressier shoe for client appointments though. I will see how it goes. I really need to save my feet if I want to continue with my walk everywhere lifestyle. Fashion sneakers are best for my feet.

Three new dresses and all on deep discount! *happy dance*

Trendy white relaxed straight jeans, and a scarf that is a twinset match with the roomy linen shirt.

I take pics downstairs in our loft at the end so that you get a better sense of the colours, since the light is gorgeous down there. Sam and Jo joined me :)

Thanks for looking xo

p.s. VERY into patterns on this leg of my style journey.

Great outfits there Angie! So good to hear that your life is going well. Love that pink dress!

  • Irina replied 2 years ago

And my favorites are.... all of them! Beautiful as ever! What a treat to see your outfits, Angie. Although, some furry kids tried to steal the show! :)

  • Angie replied 2 years ago

Anne and Irina, thank you for the kind words. Lovely to see you chime in - and YES to Sam and Jo stealing the show :)

I'm big into pink this year it seems....

  • Katerina replied 2 years ago

Angie, my fluidly structured me waves back at you! Thank you for posting these lovely pictures. Your outfits are a treat to watch indeed. I love the bright crisp color combinations and the polish, all in a relaxed and comfortable way. Your outfits are fun and joyful, creative, polished and very pretty. And you look stunning in them. I have a thing for your scarf - shirt twinset, it is soo fun and fabulous. Love it also with the denim jacket. Now I need a scarf - blouse combo just like yours

  • bj1111 replied 2 years ago

So charming. You wear color so well. If anyone can convince me away from funerary shades, you can!

    Hurray for Yorkies!

  • Bonnie replied 2 years ago

What a nice surprise. I love your outfits and seeing them inspires me so much. Your inclusions of prints add a fun dimension to your colorful outfits.

  • Angie replied 2 years ago

Katerina, that is high praise, and I’m blushing at your gracious comment. Thank you! I hope you find your version of a matching blouse and scarf :)

bj1111, how lovely to be described as charming! And you crack me up.....

bonnie, I'm humbled to inspire your fab and stylish self.

  • aloha emily replied 2 years ago

Gorgeous!! Every single look is so so good!! And This is Jo’s WIW debut, isn’t it?

  • slim cat replied 2 years ago

Bright and joyful- love all the outfits!
Personal favorites are all white jeans outfits ( so jealous of your new jeans ) and all the pics with furry family members ;-) .

  • chewyspaghetti replied 2 years ago

Are you aging backwards? I swear, you look younger and younger!

  • Angie replied 2 years ago

    Thank you!

Emily, YES, Jo's first WIW. She is effortlessly stylish :)

Slim Cat, try the same jeans? They are not torn and ripped like the stock photo. I am short in the rise, so these might work on you.

  • Angie replied 2 years ago

Khris, hardly. 51 in a few weeks. But definitely more playful with my style over the last five years, and it makes my heart happier.

  • Brooklyn replied 2 years ago

Gorgeous Angie! It’s always a treat to see your outfits.

There were 2 surprises for me. Sleeveless in no 1. I don’t think I’ve ever seen you in a sleeveless top or dress. And the chevron dress is a maxi (and no 1 is almost a maxi). Have you softened on your poison eye for maxis? (Just curious, not meant as a criticism, we all have our likes and dislikes.) Both items look great.

And it’s delightful to see Sam and Jo making an appearance.

  • nuancedream replied 2 years ago

Those fabulous outfits just mirror your radiance and joyful spirit, Angie. Seeing those pics lifts my spirit on a gray, rainy day. Thank you! :)

  • Murph11 replied 2 years ago

There's just so much joy in these photos!

  • Angie replied 2 years ago

Brooklyn, sharp eye! I started re-wearing sleeveless dresses last year. It gets very hot in our sunny loft! And when I'm out, I walk in the shade to stay covered. I have two sleeveless midis.

The chevron dress grew in that slinky knit! It was a midi, and now it's almost a maxi. I LOVE the dress so I'm rolling with the punches. And yes to no more poison eye for casual maxis. The blue linen dress is a midaxi, and I love the longer midi length.

  • Angie replied 2 years ago

Nuancedream and Murph11, you are both so nice! Thank you for the gracious words. And stay dry today. We are about to take Sam and Jo out in raincoats...

  • Echo replied 2 years ago

I love the fun use of color and pattern. I have recently started to experiment more with the use of brights, and these photos are a great template from which to work regarding complimentary colors. You look fab!

  • replied 2 years ago

Love your happy pics, the flowered dress especially! And welcome to Team Maxi and Team Sleeveless (mwahaha)!
Hugs to doggos- but I want to see them in raincoats :)

  • Runcarla replied 2 years ago

You would fit in perfectly with my late spring garden, Angie!

  • rachylou replied 2 years ago

You look AMAZING! Seriously dig the hot pink loafers!

  • replied 2 years ago

Sensational! I enjoy your spectrum of colors! Spectacular fashion fun :) My favorite is the blue shirt dress. Does it button all the way down? Adorable helpers!

  • kellygirl replied 2 years ago

Absolutely delightful outfits, Angie! You radiate warmth. I’d imagine anyone who sees you must smile! Love every one of these. Really admire your carefully curated selection of toppers, shoes and handbags—they really complete these looks (well, and Sam and Jo too!) YLF!

  • replied 2 years ago

There’s so much to love here ! Your style is still so identifiable even as you change things up a bit . Love the sleeveless long dress , the pink suede loafers , the white jeans ….all are just wow !! Love your hair this way too - I’m so excited to be getting a major cut tomorrow as it’s been months since I had one that wasn’t self -administered . Going short :) Oh , and my other favourite thing is those pink soled sneakers . I wish I had pursued them a bit further when I originally ordered them in the high top version last winter . They are SO great !

  • Janet replied 2 years ago

So sweet to see Jo joining the picture party! :-D

I’m so glad you get to work with clients in person again and are busy with work. It’s nice to have some semblance of return to normalcy, isn’t it?

You look amazing as always and are the poster girl for bold, cheerful color. And if this is your “uneven” natural skin, you are lucky indeed. I love those distressed white jeans — if only the rise were lower and I looked half as good in white bottoms!

  • Angie replied 2 years ago

Thanks for the kind words, everyone. Sam and Jo amp up my style quotient.

Echo, fun to hear you delving into colours!

Suntiger, I think you wanted me to get the flowered pink dress from the get go, so there you go. For you - and nice welcomes :)

    Carla, pretty flowers.

Rachy, the loafers are really comfy! Just ordered them in lemon.

Nikki, I appreciate your generous words, and YES the blue dress buttons all the way through!

Kelly, that's high praise and I'm blushing, I thoughtfully curate my wardrobe, so thanks for noticing :)

  • Karie replied 2 years ago

Such pretty, colorful, and beautiful outfits!

  • Angie replied 2 years ago

Lisa P, thank you for the busload of compliments :) I'm excited about your super short cut tomorrow, and I bet it will look fab! Are you keeping your natural colour? YES to those BR sneakers. I wish I had duplicated the pink soled ones. Which hi-tops do you have?

Janet, YAY to some semblance of return to normalcy, and a debuting TWO doggies in a WIW. I love you in white jeans. Try them again!

    Karie, you are lovely.

  • Sally replied 2 years ago

I really admire your use of colour.  It can't do anything but make someone smile as they are such beautiful expressions of summer and happiness.  I vow to wear more colour with my black :)

  • Jessikams replied 2 years ago

Thanks for sharing! Gorgeous colors and super cute puppies. The printed blouse plus printed scarf combination strikes me as “very European” although I can’t parse out what that means.

I am curious: now that your hair is shorter again, how is it impacting your outfits? I notice that as my hair grows out (now well down the neck), my preferred necklines are changing. I’m glad I still have some older clothes with more open necklines. Maybe those of us with shorter, changeable hair should hang onto tops with different necklines just in case.

  • Sal replied 2 years ago

Thanks for sharing these stunning colourful and playful WIW.  I love all of them but the chevron dress is my top pick!

Pleased you are able to get out there again with clients - and life is busy and rewarding.

  • Debbie replied 2 years ago

I love it all and you look great in those dresses. I am trying sleeveless for the first time in a long time with your encouragement. You and your  wardrobe are an inspiration for me to keep trying and expanding my horizons. i did a double take with the jeans in finds till I read your explanation.
Thank you for sharing Jo and Sam with us.

  • Mirjana replied 2 years ago

Wow Angie, what a surprise! You made my day, soo beautiful outfits and color combinations, I can't stop watching. You wear dresses the best, all are wonderful on you. The blue sleeveless dress is fantastic, lovely sleeveless on you, and unexpected with pink. I also love the pink pattern dress with white accessories. The white jeans combinations are soo beautiful. Thank you Angie for this feast for the eyes.

  • Star replied 2 years ago

So nice to see your WIW's.  Love all the outfits, and the fur babies :)

  • RoseandJoan replied 2 years ago

Oh you look sensational Angie, you wear those vibrant colours so well.

I'm fascinated by how you pull a look together with your handbag and shoes.

The theory midaxi definitely has my name on it.

  • Tanya replied 2 years ago

Oh wow, what a treat to see all the fabulous outfits, happy colors and adorable doggies!  Quite a feast for the eyes.

So nice to hear that life is slowly going back to normal, and that Jo brings much joy.  You look so happy and so stylish.

  • anchie replied 2 years ago

So many beautiful outfits, it is a real treat. I was feeling little bit off of colors and patterns lately but I got inspired by you again. I got my first shot yesterday so feeling little bit more optimistic too.

  • replied 2 years ago

I had ordered those same BR sneakers you have with the pink sole , but in the high top version ( with a white sole) . They just looked off somehow in shape and silhouette so I didn’t keep them . The contrast sole makes a huge difference ! My hair project was double - pronged : grow out any colouring and grow out some layers . I can’t deal with both at once and am getting rid of the colour before I attempt any growing out . Can’t wait to get it cut !!!!

  • smittie replied 2 years ago

I still really love your 70’s striped chevron dress. Love it with the Jean jacket and booties. Also really like your red striped top.
Of course I should I got the linen shirt dress when I had the chance —looks really breezy!
    Good luck with your pups.
    Jo is so cute!

  • ANewMindset replied 2 years ago

Wow! You look great as always! Love these looks! These colors are sparking joy for me, too!!
(And i wear black most of the time)

  • cat2 replied 2 years ago

Love your play on classic accessories! How is the Boden bag quality?

  • VintageDawn replied 2 years ago

There is so much joy in these photos, I couldn't help but smile!  I esp. *loved* the pink dress & yellow accessories.

  • JAileen replied 2 years ago

Wow - what fabulous color! My fave is the first one with the pale blue dress and hot pink bag and hot pink on the sneakers.  Those sneakers are so perfect.

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 2 years ago

A big Wow! These are so vibrant and full of life, just like you. I love your fuschia complement--whoa! The white sneakers with fuschia soles and your matching bag. More love from me for your blouse-scarf twinset. That pattern was made for you. And the Boden knit-striped dress, which looks like a million bucks on you; doesn't it look like Missoni?!

Well, you certainly brightened MY morning! (You and your two adorable accomplices, that is.)

  • Minaminu replied 2 years ago

Love how your outfits shine your personality! You look great and radiant, it's nice to see that things are doing well! The 2 puppies are lovely and it's nice to see that they get along so well.

  • Angie replied 2 years ago

Wow! Thank you for your awfully kind words!

I’ll be back tomorrow to comment fully and answer the questions. Have a good Saturday :)

  • Jonesy replied 2 years ago

What a treat! You are kicking off summer and working in-person again with such style and verve! Thanks for the shout-out--I am waving right back at you :).

I love how vibrant your wardrobe is and how it directly reflects your vibrant personality and presence. I am sure you make people smile when you are out and about (and I have witnessed this when we had our Chicago get-together!).

I love the print dresses and your new white jeans are absolutely fabulous! The print top/scarf combo is so, so fab with the jeans and jacket--you look very chic and ready for a stroll on some cobblestone, picturesque piazza somewhere! I admire how your wardrobe is so varied yet so cohesive, with pieces that can be interchanged depending on your mood and what tickles your fancy that day.

I have been wondering about little Jo and how she is developing, so it's a pleasure to see her with brother Sam, cuddled up on your lap!

Happy weekend at the Cox castle!

  • replied 2 years ago

You're leading the way out of lockdown with these exuberant looks!  I love them all, and I love your furry snugglers, too.  Thanks for this Saturday treat!

  • Cardiff girl replied 2 years ago

Aww,those doggies are so cute! And you are a real ray of sartorial sunshine.l paticularly like the bright pink dress.

  • Laura replied 2 years ago

The PINK soles on your white sneakers! Please pass the smelling salts and give me a moment while I revive myself!

  • Laura replied 2 years ago

Okay, I’m back to add that the empire waist dresses are soooo happy and that pale blue denim jacket (paired with the scarf and collared shirt) is superb! I’m practically reeling from the fabness of it all!

  • kkards replied 2 years ago

Love the way you’ve matched you bag and your shoes! It’s so fun to see that old fashion rule updated with unexpected brights.

  • kkards replied 2 years ago

Should have added that i love the way you’ve nailed the out and about after 15 months look...fun, fab and fresh.

  • Preppy Pear replied 2 years ago

So much fun! I love every stinking adorable picture but that 70’s Boden dress and that linen print shirt brought me extra joy (to say nothing of Sam and Jo, of course.). Thanks for posting these!

  • Jaime replied 2 years ago

Thank you for sharing these delightful photos! You are positively radiant and Sam and Jo are just adorable. The pink soles with your pink bag is a stunning complement. Overall, you demonstrate how flats and  sneakers can still pack a powerful style punch. The dresses are all gorgeous on you, and I was especially struck by how elegantly you wear the bold, tropical Boden print button up. Beautiful!

  • Angie replied 2 years ago

Thank you ALL, for the awfully kind words! I appreciate your compliments, the affection for Sam and Jo, and you taking the time to chime in very much. It makes me smile, and is quite calming :)

Jessikams, I haven't found that my very short hair impacts my outfit and silhouette selection - maybe because the hair on my neck is never very long. In your case, adjusting the shape of a neckline and hanging onto a variety of necklines, is impactful and handy. Good idea!

cat2, I have two Boden handbags, and the quality is stellar. I also think we gravitate to the same types of footwear.

Lisa P, were they these? Let's hope for a better hi-top selection next season.

  • Jenn replied 2 years ago

Your style right now is vibrant and exciting! I'm so happy to see you out and about and working with clients in person again. You can almost see the energy radiating out of these photos.

  • Angie replied 2 years ago

Smittie, Preppy Pear and Sal, as lovers of '70s fashion, I see why the chevron dress is a fave!

Jules, Jaime and kkards, although my footwear choices are limited, I try to take great care with the way my shoes and bags impact my outfits. Thank you for noticing!

Debbie, I'm humbled to inspire you, and you rock those sleeveless dresses!

Jenn, HAH. Authentically energetic, I guess!

Laura, you crack me up. Those Nine West dresses are magical for good reason. Love the '70s vibe. We need to be dress twins!

Sally, Star, Vintage Dawn, anchie, Minaminu, Jaileen, Tanya, Theresa, Cardiif Girl, and Xtabay, thank you for being so lovely!

Jonesy and Firecracker, that is high praise and I am in awe of your generous comments :)

  • Bijou replied 2 years ago

Such a treat to see you and the dogs. Jo is a real cutie but not the seasoned model like Sam.

I have struggled with fluid fits as I tend to try dresses with lots of volume and decide that fluid fits are not for me. Thank you for highlighting how deliberate you are in getting your fluid dresses to work. It is lovely to see you in your amazing wardrobe, especially your citron and fuchsia pieces.

  • Angie replied 2 years ago

Bijou, I’ve found it’s all about tailoring in the right places. Hence my deliberate use of the term tailored fluidity! Doggies send Margot kisses and tail wags :)

  • Suz replied 2 years ago

I am so late to see all these gorgeous outfits but wanted to pop in and say you look spectacular, and what a joy to be out in the world working again! So thrilled for you!

I love the dresses, but I'm totally enamoured of that new "twinset" linen shirt/ scarf combo! Absolutely stunning!

The hot pink and white dress is also spectacular on you.

So interesting about the footwear. It will be really interesting to suss it out over time. I'm not sure where I will go with this in the future either. I mean, I know what I will wear for my suburban walks and bike rides, but how will I feel in situations that used to require something a bit dressier? I don't know.

  • Bijou replied 2 years ago

Margot would send them right back, but she is fast asleep. Been off to the pooch parlour for a wash and tidy up today and she is exhausted. Margot is looking like a baby polar bear, so white and fluffy.

  • Angie replied 2 years ago

Bijou, a beautiful doggie needs her beauty sleep :)

Suz, thanks for popping by and for the kind words! I'm thinking of dedicating a set of fashion sneakers to wear with clients only. Keeps them looking pristine.

  • replied 2 years ago

I love the *KaPOW* of your color choices!
My very favorite (which was tough to choose) is the outfit in 7/8.

I also think the pics of you with the furkids are serious day brighteners!

  • MsMary replied 2 years ago

You look amazing, as always, Angie! And I couldn't resist buying the Magic Dress in that pretty coral print! :)

  • Inge replied 2 years ago

Utterly gorgeous, every single one of these!! Just looking at your brights makes me happy, and it's clear that you get so much joy from sporting these looks, which makes them extra special and fun!!

I've no doubt that anyone passing you on the street cannot stop smiling afterwards!

P.S. I hear you on the sneakers and needing to keep your feet happy because we walk so much.

  • Angie replied 2 years ago

Jenna, YAY for choosing the most bright and hectic look!

Mary, YAY, we are magic dress twinsies :)

Inge, thank you for your always generous comments, and go Team Fashion Sneakers!

  • catherine replied 2 years ago

Angie, I like your sneakers very much. Do the BR sneakers fit a narrow foot, in your opinion?

  • Angie replied 2 years ago

Catherine, they do! I have very narrow feet. And you can add an insole to take up space :)

  • catherine replied 2 years ago

Thanks very much. I’ll try them.

  • Angie replied 2 years ago

Fingers crossed. I sized down half a size.

  • lyn67 replied 2 years ago

Oh, look at this lady in pink(coral, baby blue, white, citron, happy patterns) and... comfy fashion sneakers!!!! Isn't she the most radiant glowing persona I've ever seen,  spreading a sea of joy and laughts around her! I want to see her on my ways- I want to delight my eyes with her colors and style, I want to stop her, to speak her, to cuddle her cute puppies, to hug her and make a compliment.. or at least to wave her from the other side of the street(ocean)!:-)

  • Zaeobi replied 2 years ago

Oh wow, these looks are all excellent - but I especially love the yellow & pink soled trainers :D Funny how colourful footwear can end up being so versatile!

  • Angie replied 2 years ago

Lyn67, you are soooo lovely... and FUNNY :)  Thank you for your very sweet comment.

Zaeobi, YES! Sneaker complements can be very versatile. Pulls a casual look together.
