WiWs: Belated Birthday Edition

My birthday was 7 weeks ago on July 9. I got the Smythe blazer, the big tan pants, and orange trousers. I wore the blazer with the tan pans out for fancy sushi on my birthday like this. It was a chilly air-conditioned setting so I was glad to have the coverage!

This is my FAVOURITE ITEM BLAZER OF ALL TIME. It could not be more perfect. I've worn it quite a bit already. The pants too! Versatile items for my style.

My bold statement of the day:

Modern Classic is my Fashion- Forward  :)

I'm organically adding and wearing more classics. They suit me, feel gorgeously luxe and elegant, and make me happy! It feels fashion-forward to wear a higher percentage of classics at the moment because they feel "new" and are beyond trends - which I love wearing too, btw! I'm a Trendy Classic.

The BIG pair of tan pair pants are a fringe trend at this exaggerated width. The orange pants are a fringe trend I see coming down the runways too. Straight high waist pants that are full length with a bit of scrunch. Polar opposite to each other and super fun! The grommet belt and ten year old gold loafers are trendy. My eyewear is retro.

The blazer is a classic. Loud and unique in the screaming plaid.

My new hair, blouse, knitted top, gold belt, both bags, cream loafers, make-up, and pearls are classic.

Sam and Jo are in a league of their own :)

The orange blouse had to be mine. Dutch orange, stirrups, and horse bits for my horse capsule. Enough said! Wore it untucked for a change too. It feels stunning!

Hair Update: Desperately need a re-shape. The back grows faster than the front, and I want the front longer. Trim next week. VERY much enjoying my natural colour, and the length that finally looks more attractive to my eye. Far fewer bad hair days.

Thanks for looking! xo

Wow, your legs are probably a mile long, but those tan pants make them a mile longer! Just curious, Angie--about how much tailoring do you do of your pieces? Because those fit well.

Love the colors, too--I would totally wear those.

  • Suz replied 8 months ago

Wow! You GLOW in those oranges -- it is incredible. Absolutely stunning, Angie.

The blazer is, indeed, perfect for you, and I can't wait to see it in other combinations. I see it is cotton. Will it be primarily a summer item for you or do you think you will also wear it into fall/ winter? I can see it in fall, perhaps. Maybe not winter so much. But it will be fun to play with.

LOVE both trousers -- they both look amazing, and as you say, pleasingly different silhouettes. A fun switch up from crops now.

And the orange blouse is just spectacular on you.

As someone who enjoys orange but cannot wear it, I will revel in these beautiful brights on you!

  • rachylou replied 8 months ago

I must give a special shout out for the orange trousers and pink glasses! The blazer looks like to be a workhorse already :)

  • Dee replied 8 months ago

The blazer is such a wonderful colourful addition, but the wide pants are a blast too. Big cuffs, and pleats to boot. Enjoying your Dutch orange combos too. The classics shine in these brights colours and prints.

  • LJP replied 8 months ago

I agree with Suz in that the orange is so beautiful on you ! These are all unique and fashion forward pieces and look like they’ll be useful for a long time .

  • bj1111 replied 8 months ago

    Happy happy birthday!

You wear wide leg pants so well.

  • ChristelJ replied 8 months ago

It seems you can wear any pants style to perfection! These are so much fun. Love the hems on the tan pants, and the narrowness of the orange ones. Your trendy pants silhouettes always inspire me to consider new shapes in my own. The blazer and shirt are both gorgeous and suit you so well. You look so beautiful and vibrant in these outfits.

  • Inge replied 8 months ago

Your new blazer is absolutely divine, Angie! The new orange blouse is stunning too, and so very you, what a find! And your hair is looking amazing!

The happiness factor is splashing off the screen, love it all!-)

  • Runcarla replied 8 months ago

    Orange outfit = serotonin ++!

  • Irina replied 8 months ago

You look fantastic! Love your new blazer and can see how versatile it is going to be in your closet. Pants are great, too!

  • Indigoprint replied 8 months ago

I really admire how all your pieces play so well together. I hope someday when I grow up I can do that too.
    You look Fab!

  • Angie replied 8 months ago

    Thanks so much, everyone!

Carol, I have regular length legs. These full length styles of pants makes them them look longer than they are! - coupled with a short or tucked top that extends the leg line from the hips upward.

To answer your question, certain brands fit me really well, so I tend to stick with them. I don't need to alter much that way. Hems rarely need hemming. Sometimes I have the waistband altered to fit. I had these orange pants altered at the waist. The rest of the items fit straight off the rack.

Suz, that is high praise, and I'm blushing! The blazer can be worn into early Autumn. Fab for Spring and when I need a dressy jacket in Summer! So with you on the fun switcheroo of silhouettes on the bottom. The trendiest part of my style. Yours too :)

Rachy, orange and pink are pretty together! Yup. The blazer is a workhorse.

Dee, you nailed it! I tend to wear the classics in brights. Part of what makes me happy to wear them. That said, I wear a lot of blue and white too.

LPJ, I love wearing bright orange. Nice of it to boomerang the affection! YES! These items have longevity. Tan works well with my hair these days too.

Thanks bj1111, Carla and Irina! Brights are as versatile for my style as neutrals. It would be interesting to know which I wear more frequently - if I counted my wears ;)

  • Angie replied 8 months ago

ChristelJ, more high praise from very gracious you! Thanks so much. Humbled to inspire your bottoms silhouettes.

Inge, my sweet friend, thank you for being sooooo supportive of my tedious and less than attractive grow-out! It made a difference :)

  • Janet replied 8 months ago

That blazer is so fantastic on you — all of these pieces are! The orange blouse is soooo good. Classic but distinctive. You look beautiful, and your hair grow-out may have taken a while but it’s my favorite hairstyle I’ve seen on you. Belated happy birthday, and hi to Sam and Jo!

  • cat2 replied 8 months ago

Glad you hung onto the gold loafers; they look so on point again. And love the orange pants; Yoox can really deliver sometimes. And with that print L’Agence has come up with a great category of Cheery Equestrian. The RL equestrian pieces can be sort of serious.

  • Angie replied 8 months ago

Thanks so much, everyone! I'll be back to comment in detail in a bit.

  • MsMaven replied 8 months ago

I love, love, love your hair. Trying to figure out why. Love your glasses as well. I'll have to figure it out. I like the first jacket.

Being open to change and experimenting is great. Sometimes I wonder if it's other people who want to put us in a box as far as style, and make it harder to leave that box.

I will continue to watch your hair story with great interest.

  • RobinF replied 8 months ago

Great outfits! I love those orange pants - are they like a cigarette style? Longer than that I suppose. It is so hard for me to figure out these new lengths. Love the hair too - it seems a perfect length now.

  • Angie replied 8 months ago

MsMaven, thanks for the hair love! That means a lot. I like my natural hair colour! It's sooooo much easier than getting highlights every 6 weeks. The condition is healthy too. Feel free to start a separate thread with your questions, and I will try my best to answer them.

RobinF, thank you! Yes! The orange pants are a cigarette silhouette. The high waist and slightly scrunched hems are key to their on trend look.

  • pil replied 8 months ago
