Complement: Whiskey Boots and Bag

The bag came and is a perfect tonal match with the new tall boots! Lucky.

It's a Baldinini bag. I love Italian made goods, and Italy! It sells for $895 full price. I got it for $175 on yoox.com. Mega bargain at 80% off! It's brand new, stunning, simple, practical, and impeccable.

In the light of LJP's thread on "forever items", and SarahDH's thread on "the currency of your style" - these are good examples of pieces that I will have for a LONG time. They are Modern Classics, so I personally won't tire of them. Sufficiently current, and always chic and polished to my eye. I can wear them in playful way too ;)

These items match three more very old wardrobe items that embellish the whiskey complement. More classics, more "forever items", and I'll write a post about that soon.

My style soul is as classic as it is trendy. A balanced 50/50 split.

Divine!  Love this colour for footwear and bags.

  • Helena replied 1 year ago

Love - I also love how it's a complement but with different textures ... it will add so much richness to the outfits you wear them with.

    Thanks, Star and Helena!

32C here later today. No a/c in the loft. No boot wearing for a while....

  • BlueJay replied 1 year ago

WOW! Awesome that they match. That was lucky! I also agree with Helena's comment about the textures! (I love different textures in rich colours, especially for fall and winter!)

I love how the boots and bag go together. You are so classic and pulled together.

  • SarahD8 replied 1 year ago

Lovely! And so intriguing how these purchases dovetail with themes emerging on the forum. Can't wait to see how you put these pieces through their paces.

Ha, yes, the idea of wearing boots in this heat is a bit much But these are such a gorgeous pair! So great to look forward to wearing them.

  • nancylee replied 1 year ago

Beautiful! So wonderful that the bag matches so well!

  • Dee replied 1 year ago

Wonderful match, I’ve never heard of the colour whiskey before, I would have likely called this colour butterscotch. It’s a yummy colour whatever the name.

  • LJP replied 1 year ago

    Helena said it perfectly !

  • Angie replied 1 year ago

    Thanks, everyone!

Interesting Helena, LJP and Blue Jay, the textural richness here is not on my radar. I can take or leave that part. Fab that you noticed ;)

Dee, Nordstrom calls the colour whiskey. Even though I don't drink alchohol, I like the name! I'd have gone with toffee too.

What a great bag for your complement! I love the rounded shapes, and the overall design. It looks super high quality even from here. Nice find!!!

  • Eliza replied 1 year ago

Terrific, beautiful combo! Their longevity and versatility will serve you well. Enjoy.

Those boots are great— well worth the long wait!

I’ve had suede boots in the past, and they very quickly got bald and shiny in the spots that rub a lot against things out in the world: toes, outer heels, etc. Is there any way to prevent that? It pot me off buying suede boots completely.

  • Angie replied 1 year ago

Thanks, Eliza and ChristelJ. You are gracious!

Jessikams, suede can be a mare to maintain, which is why I tend to avoid it. But I trust Aquatalia boots. They have a special built-in weatherproof coating which makes them very robust. Hence the price tag.

    Sweet! :)

  • RobinF replied 1 year ago

Oh I love these together! They will be so great with almost anything. I also love that the textures are different. Will you wear the bag as a crossbody? I also enjoy the color name whiskey, so picturesque.

  • Minaminu replied 1 year ago

oh those boots have such a lovely colour and yummy texture!

  • Mirjana replied 1 year ago

I love how the boots and bag go together, different textures but complement.

  • replied 1 year ago

Nice! Those would go well in my wardrobe too :)

  • Angie replied 1 year ago

Rachy, Minaminu and Mirjana thanks :)

    Suntiger, I'm good at sharing!

RobinF, YES. My bags must convert to crossbodies, or I can't walk Sam and Jo. The bag came with a strap, thankfully.

Congrats Angie! How beautiful and what a score!! Don’t want to rush summer away but boots are a consolation fall. You are going to have such fun with all you new pieces because they look like they will integrate so well. Enjoy!

Love!  Can’t wait to see them in action!

Gorgeous boots and bag, Angie.  I love the texture of the suede and leather together.  They will be so good with your hair.

  • Sal replied 1 year ago

Gorgeous!!  Really stunning pieces.  I love them.

  • BrieN replied 1 year ago

Both items are gorgeous on their own but together they are stunning.

How close do bags and shoes need to be in color to be considered a compliment? I have the Aquatalia boots as well and have been trying to decide if I keep them and if my current everyday bag is close enough to be considered a compliment (it’s tan but leans a teeny bit toward taupe) I think there was a forum post about this topic a few years ago but can’t find it

  • Karie replied 1 year ago

Wow! They look perfect together. I love classic wardrobe items that can go the distance. I also love it when I wear a classic item and someone says, “Did you just get that?” And I get to say, “I’ve had it for at least a decade!”

  • Jaime replied 1 year ago

Made to match! I love under the radar Italian brands - great finds!

  • Bijou replied 1 year ago

A great new bag - some of my favourite wardrobe acquisitions have been from Yoox.

  • Brooklyn replied 1 year ago

    Good stuff!

  • Angie replied 1 year ago

Thanks for the kind words, everyone!

    Karie, NICE :)

Bijou, yoox.com has my attention with handbags!

BrieN, the degree to which you match the colours of the items in a complement is a personal preference. No rules! Personally, I prefer a close match. I'm satisfied with a harmonious tonal match too. Clients and some friends are happy with a less close match - or even prefer a mismatch.

  • Bijou replied 1 year ago

Angie, be careful falling down that rabbit hole!

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 1 year ago

What a beautiful complement! And a lucky find, indeed, to get such a great tonal match. There are so many variations, and unless you can see them together in person, it can be a real gamble!

  • lyn67 replied 1 year ago

It was meat to be-you are a lucky girl!:-)

  • Angie replied 1 year ago

Bijou, I get bored with yoox.com quite quicky, so I guess I'm not a rabbit ;)

    Thanks Sharan and Lyn67

  • Cardiff girl replied 1 year ago
