WIW: Brown, Baby!

CHANGE is my word for the year. Wearing chocolate brown with a happy heart is a BIG change.

I haven't worn brown clothing since the '80s, when my school uniform was brown. Took me 35 years to recover.....

Waving to Brooklyn, Suntiger, April, LJP, Style Fan and Star as forum members who have loved chocolate brown forever!

When I saw the brown chevron Theory suit at the NAS, I felt a strong affection! Browns are great with my new darker and more versatile hair. And that short blazer with the big wide trousers at puddle length is soooo '80s with a touch of '40s. Complete with sharp shoulders. How can this suit not be mine ;)

The suit is impeccable, and drapes like a dream!

This is how I will wear my new brown Theory suit in September when it's cool enough to do so.

Brown my way. In a bolder way. I'm a loud person, so I can't wear brown quietly! Honest outfits. And just the beginning of a hundred ways I can style this suit.

  • With AllSaints brown mesh top. The pattern is a work of art! The bright bits in the pattern make it for me.
  • With '60s inspired mesh top. Makes me smile :)
  • Cream loafers and boots. Sometimes a cream grommet '80s belt to match. Looped the '80s way.
  • Taupe, orange, cream bags create CONTRAST.
  • Eyewear variations. All prescription lenses.

Sam and Jo feature heavily in my posts because they're always close-by. I can't be precious about my clothes! They have to work with very doggie daily life, or I'm not interested. This time, our outfits match :)

Thanks for looking, and have a great weekend. xo

I love it all!  I especially love the bright accents to bring the brown alive. Change is good, like a breath of fresh air!

  • Angie replied 8 months ago

Thanks, Dottie! Change was just what the doctor ordered ;)

  • rachylou replied 8 months ago

Loving it! I love esp the one with the orange bag - pow! :)

  • replied 8 months ago

Team Change FTW- but you stole my color palette!
    Aww Sam and Jo :)

  • ChristelJ replied 8 months ago

Your new direction is delightful! You make brown fun! Every version you've put together is a wow.

  • Angie replied 8 months ago

Rachy! I just learned you love brown. Yay! Nice with orange.

Suntiger, we are sharing palettes :)

ChristelJ, you are so lovely! Thanks for the sweet words.

  • Karie replied 8 months ago

Wow! Brown done your way is super gorgeous! I especially like it paired with a punch of bright color. And I love the way you’ve accessorized with a cute puppy!

  • Style Fan replied 8 months ago

I love all of it. I think these are among my favourites that you have posted.

  • Angie replied 8 months ago

    Thank you!

Karie, pink to match your hair! Brown to match our pups :)

Style Fan, I suspect because you love brown ;)

  • Roxanna replied 8 months ago

So sharp! I love it on you. And perfect for fall!

  • Cee replied 8 months ago

" Angie Does Duck Dynasty ", folks !

...and as usual, Sam, Jo and Angie's smile have stolen the show :D

  • LJP replied 8 months ago

Even though this is way out of my own wheelhouse , I appreciate the masterful styling and creative use of colour . That new mesh top is utterly perfect with this suit . I know big and long pants are current and fashion forward - I’m interested in the longer puddling length but not sure if it’s practical or realistic for my needs . I guess the trick is to hem at the fraction of length before it actually touches the floor ? Anyways - always great to see your outfits and this is one of the best :)

  • Suz replied 8 months ago

Amazing!! WOW. I do not even know what to say because my jaw has dropped to the floor.

The suit with the AllSaints top is just unbelievable!! I love it with the light and bright accents. I love it with your specs, your hair and your big smile!

Oh, and I love it with Jo and Sam, too -- of course! Their kisses are the BEST reviews. They know what works!

  • kellygirl replied 8 months ago

Wow! You look incredible! I love the brights with the brown and the white accents! Fun pairings. That Allsaints top is a masterpiece. You wear it so well! I love when you share your outfits—so inspiring!

  • slim cat replied 8 months ago

Amazing! Can't pick a favorite - all of them ;-) ! Love the All Saints mesh top - the print/colors are fabulous and the higher neckline looks perfect on you! Fun combinations with different accessories and lovely Sam and Jo.

  • Mirjana replied 8 months ago

Wow, Wow Angie that brown suit is sooo wonderful on you. It's a new color and a new silhouette for you and I love it. I especially love with the mash turtleneck, a little quietly, unexpected for you but you look gorgeous. Of course all are beautiful.

  • Star replied 8 months ago

Angie you look like a movie star!   The expressions of love on the Doggies faces when they are looking at you just grab my heart.

  • Olive Green replied 8 months ago

The mesh top and the orange take this into Very Fashionable territory.
You really make an impression in this suit when it is sparked by more colour and pattern.
Honestly, impressed. Thought the suit was going to be dull ;)

  • Janet replied 8 months ago

Truly gorgeous! I don’t think anyone could possibly wear it better.

I was thinking of lemming you on that mesh top but it’s sold out in all but the smallest size — saved! LOL

  • gryffin replied 8 months ago

Wow! First the suit is divine! I own a lot of theory. Their fabric, styles, tailoring are so great and their pieces look good forever. The AllSaints top is spectacular with the suit. But most importantly your pups look fanpuptabulous with your outfit. It is so important, as a pet mama, that everything you wear sets off your pups to purrfection. Stupendous job! Love!!

  • Brooklyn replied 8 months ago

Wow! Simply fabulous. One of my Angie favourites. No surprises there! 10/11 in particular. I’m so happy that full length pants are back.

Big hugs for Sam and Jo. I’m sure they approve of your new palette.

  • Carol replied 8 months ago

So I am loving the retro palette of hot pink, hot orange, and brown. I'm curious about maybe adding in some avocado green to totally complete that Sixties palette. Also completely intrigued by the heavy pleating, which is a bold choice.

  • Dee replied 8 months ago

Yep I'm definitely feeling the 80s vibe in your outfits. So much fun and naturally you look incredible in all of them.

This brown seems to read a bit grey on my monitor, I'm guessing its more taupy IRL or maybe not but whatever, it works perfectly for you. Enjoying all these new changes for you, its inspiring.

  • Indigoprint replied 8 months ago

That All Saints top is so Fab. I can see it play well with your new tall boots too. Love the pattern and neckline.

  • Lana replied 8 months ago

Love it all! I know what you mean about Brown, I had the same problem with plaid because of my school uniform.  You look perfectly ready for autumn.

  • Irina replied 8 months ago

Picture perfect as always, Angie! Happy you are enjoying a new color in your palette.

  • kkards replied 8 months ago

Lol, I looked at #1-#8 and thought where did the Angie I know and love go, and then there she was in #9 with the bright red bag!   And then she’s shining through in the fabulous orange & pink shirt in #15-21!

Not that I don’t like #1-#8, I love them!   But they’re just a little different from what I’ve come to expect from you.
Yay to embracing change, and more making notes things work for you!

  • Val replied 8 months ago

It’s really fun to see you pairing bright colors with something a little more murky. Intriguing! The big pleats on those pants look great, too.

  • Kyle replied 8 months ago

Your new suit is beautiful. But both of those tops have stolen my heart. Love the drama of the AllSaints piece. The neckline. The pattern. Everything. And I’m a sucker for all things 60s. The photos with Sam and Jo are frameworthy,

  • Helena replied 8 months ago

What a gorgeous suit! I especially love it with the juicy brights and imagine it will fit seamlessly into your wardrobe and palette.

  • Vildy replied 8 months ago

    Wonderfull silhouette!

  • Angie replied 8 months ago

Thanks for the kind words, everyone!

Appreciate the lovely compliments Roxanna, Helena, and Irina! Thanks for chiming in.

Cee, honoured to be compared with super stylish Sam and Jo :)

LJP, that’s high praise - thank you! Since it’s wet in Seattle many days of year, I won’t wear these in the pouring rain - but drizzle is fine. Because if I wear my boots with the low heels, the hems are a quarter inch off the ground. Keeps hems dry. That’s my suggestion to you! With the loafers - the pants are perfect puddle length. Best in dry weather ;)

Suz, Slim Cat, and Kelly, more high praise from you three sweet people, and I’m blushing! That fluidly tailored draped neckline on the AllSaints top is the bomb. Genuis. I’m thrilled with it! Sam and Jo thank you too.

Mirjana, you like brown too! I can see you in a similar brown suit.

Star, Sam and Jo make me look good ;)

    Olive Green, HAH! Nicely said.

Janet, that’s very sweet! Please try on the AllSaints mesh top when it pops back in your size. I love the slate-black one for you.

Gryffin, I share you love for impeccable Theory garments! Like you, I have several that work well and wear like iron. I hope we are top twinsies. And of course, you get how important it is to have your style work with your doggies :)

Brooklyn, I knew you would adore the browns and that #10 and #11 would be your faves! No surprises! Our colour palettes are colliding :)  Go Team Big Wide Puddle Pants! Sam and Jo send tail wags and kisses back. xo

Carol, you’re right about the retro palettes. Please have fun with those too!

Dee, monitor colours differs, don’t they? The suit is quite a neutral dark chocolate brown - not too warm or cool. Not taupe either. It has a pretty false plain chevron texture. Thanks for the encouragement!

Indigoprint, yes! Both tops work with my new tall boots. Well spotted.

Lana, you get how a school uniform can kill a colour ;)

Kkards, I’m alive and kicking! Rest assured - changed yet just the same. I will never give up my brights, whites, and blues. They are part of my style soul. Thanks for the cheerleading. Plus, I’ll wear my bubblepink coat over the brown suit.

    Val, it’s a fun change!

Kyle, mesh tops - when they work - are magical items! Please try these too. They can work well in AZ.

  • Jenni NZ replied 8 months ago

I really like the shape of the blazer Angie. As far as the colour, I don’t see brown? I see grey on my phone screen. Particularly in pic 3 where the trousers seem to match the grey parts of Sam or Jo, whichever pup that one is! Your mesh top is pretty.
We’re allowed to change our preferences right? I’m glad I didn’t get put off the colour of my high school uniform because much of it was yellow! The blazer and skirt were brown though. It was the 70s!

  • Jaime replied 8 months ago

Oh my goodness Angie! You are killing me (and it!) with your mesh tops, brown suit, adorable poses and megawatt smile! Wow, I just love all of these smashing looks. And feel compelled to mention that I chose brown as my color of the year :) !

  • Kari replied 8 months ago

WONDERFUL choices to embrace brown. I think the pattern really makes it work - somehow I can’t picture you wearing a solid chocolate brown but with a pattern like this, yes! Love the mesh top especially, and the joy that comes through in these photos.

  • Angie replied 8 months ago

    Thanks so much everyone!

JenniNZ, it's a very brown suit in person! YES, we reserve the right to change our mind, don't we - keeps things interesting. Glad you weren't put off your school uniform colours ;)

Jaime, such high praise, and I'm blushing! Glad I'm doing your colour of the year proud.

Kari, dead right about the addition of the patterns! Makes the brown more Playful, which is a style adjective I aspire to.

  • nuancedream replied 8 months ago

Just stunning, Angie! So happy that you've rediscovered and embraced brown. Guess who also owns that same All Saints mesh shirt? LOL! I bought the shirt to breathe new life into an old Club Monaco pinstripe suit.

  • Bijou replied 8 months ago

A feast for the eyes, I adore the new suit and top which looks like it is an Alexander McQueen print. Glad it all is puppy proof; your doggies are adorable.

ND - so fun that you and Angie are top twins, it will be gorgeous on you too.

  • Angie replied 8 months ago

Nuancedream, wooohooooo! Fun to be mesh top twinsies with you! Gorgeous with your complexion, and an effective suit update.

Bijou, thanks for the kind words! You get that pups are everything :)

  • lyn67 replied 8 months ago

Wow, You have skyscraper legs in that suit!   ...but  our Angie in  full earthy AND DARK browns??? Skies are falling!!!  I have to admit  I never thought it would happen !:-) Your choc mesh top is my jam (was always loving those shades  for me) and looks fab on You!! Does it have some blacks, too-pun intended!:) I love bl&browns in a print -and  yours is really an art, indeed! I say, the one thing that makes all the difference are the cream shoes(and/or other bright accessories). Love all the stylings, coral is another great color with deep browns!

  • Barbara Diane replied 8 months ago

My favorite part of this is your big smile! That’s a clear clue that you’ve found something wonderful And Sam and Joe,

  • Angie replied 8 months ago

Lyn67, thanks for making me laugh! I appreciate the support and compliments :)

Barbara Diane, Sam and Jo make me smile, and look good ;)

  • Cee replied 8 months ago

Angie guest starring on Duck Dynasty:

" Well, you join me in the lovely swampy place where we're looking for de quack-quackens... but NO boom-booms this time ! Just de OTHER kind of nature pictures we be taking ! "

    * Angie starts slowly sinking *

" Oooh... Well, poopen... It appears I have vergissem to have lopen onto de drijfzand sinky ground ! "

    * Camera pans down with Angie as she continues sinking up to her waist, but still somehow managing to smile brightly *

Oh well... At de browns I am wearing at least doesn't clash with de swampy mucky-muck ! "

    * Sam and Jo throw Angie a lasso, grit their fangs and dig their paws in *

" Ja, ' Do de wildlife filmen ' they said... ' It'll be fun and rewarding, ' they said ! ...Ze liegen, by Coco !! "

  • ZoeyGirl replied 8 months ago

I didn't see this before you linked it in today's post. I'm sorry I did! You look fabulous! Loving the mesh and loving the chocolate brown.

  • Vicki replied 8 months ago

I'm glad you recovered from your school your uniform and I think Sam and Jo are quite happy with your color choices. Brown can be quite grounding and with those two beautiful tops, you make everything come alive! It's funny. The Cleveland Browns team colors are brown and orange and I've had a love-hate relationship with those colors. But, as you show, it can work beautifully and I love the suit with its '80s and '40s vibes going.  It's inspiring to see you make a change and go for it.

  • Eliza replied 8 months ago

Gorgeous. Way to embody elegance without forfeiting the signature Angie fun quotient. I feel you on change; it seems to be this year’s focus for quite a few of us.

That brown is interesting as the stock photo reads more brown and your photos have more charcoal in them on my phone screen. Maybe a technical anomaly. I know grays are usually not your tones.

  • Cardiff girl replied 8 months ago

You always look lovely but this suit with the top and sunglasses…..looking very cool indeed.

My school uniform was dark green,l still haven’t recovered.

  • Angie replied 8 months ago

    Zoeygirl, thanks for chiming in!

Eliza and Vicki, always gracious, kind, postive and lovely. You are inspirational :)

Cee, good thing Sam and Jo threw that lasso!

Cardiff Girl, I'm all for school uniforms! The only way kids should go to school. Yet we seem to need a recovery period ;)

  • Cee replied 7 months ago

I saw the Bear Grylls episode where he demonstrated how to get out of quicksand without any help. It's amazingly easy if you're moderately fit and most importantly DON'T PANIC.

Most people who get stuck just did all the wrong things at the time.

  • DonnaF replied 7 months ago

I'm swooning; please fan me. That suit! Those tops, especially the AllSaints one! YLF. Makes me want to live my imaginary life.

  • April replied 7 months ago

Go, AC!  I'm glad you got over your aversion to brown.

  • Bonnie replied 7 months ago

That is a beautiful suit and I love your stylings. Yay for brown being available again.

  • Angie replied 7 months ago

Thanks, everyone! Appreciate the kind compliments and giggles ;)

  • Joy replied 7 months ago

Wow! I love your brown. I am hoping to find a pants suit with pull on pants in brown velvet. I have dark brown eyes so it is a good color if warm. My brown eyes are rimmed with gold.

  • Angie replied 7 months ago

I hope you find your brown suit, Joy

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 7 months ago

My goodness, stunning all around, Angie! This suit is SO great on you--the proportion and silhouette are spot on for where your style is at this moment. Polished, ladylike, current. Not prim. In charge, capable and ready, but not the "power" look. You wear jackets beautifully, and this fitted, shorter jacket with the wider pleated high-waist trousers is just the best!

  • Cee replied 7 months ago

Here it is, sports fans ! Just follow the Bear :D
