WIW: Red Boyfriends + Oatmeal

One of the trendiest components of my style is what I wear on the BOTTOM. It's usually in the form of a pair of pants or jeans. Skirts less so, since I prefer dresses.

I had a pair of red boyfriend jeans on my radar from a retailer whose colours launch me into orbit. Essential Antwerp. Waving to Inge, who lives in Antwerp! Sustainably and ethically produced, and 100% cotton. They went on flash sale and I pounced!

They are super roomy - especially in the back - but not overly slouchy.  Dropped crotch point and lowered rise because of that. Just polished enough to my eye. The white stitching is unique, and the silhouette reminds me VERY fondly of the '80s.

LOVE them sooooo much! :)

My old red jumper is a perfect colour match so that's how I debuted them today! 1970 is the year I was born, so it's meaningful-to-me. Cream and oatmeal support act - my wardrobe essentials! - are an easy and signature way to finish off the look.

YES, I'm back to belting because that's how I wear slouchy boyfriends. They sit BELOW my waist, and where I prefer belts.

Also bought an IKAT print blouse in stores today (#8). Large spaced florals are trending, and you'll hear about that next week. It has a camisole in the SAME pattern (#9). A beautiful attention to detail. Love that match! GORGEOUS and awfully pretty. And it matches my blush pants (#10).

Sam and Jo are always supportive (#11)! Thanks for looking. xo

  • Irina replied 1 year ago

Very pretty, Angie. Red is one of my absolute favorite colors on you.

The pants indeed remind me the style of pants I wore @ the end of 80s.

  • ChristelJ replied 1 year ago

Absolutely marvelous! The new pants are such a great fit, and the white accents make your outfit sing. What a stunning blouse on you, too. Your Angie style really shines, as always.

  • kellygirl replied 1 year ago

You are such a delight, Angie! I can't help but smile at your fab photos. You exude such warmth and style! Love this.

Fabulous pants and beautiful blouse, Angie! How serendipitous that your sweater matches!

  • Jaime replied 1 year ago

Wow, I love this so much! I am always delighted by how you manage to wear a new silhouette while clearly retaining your personal style. (And of course boyfriend jeans are near and dear to my heart.) The blouse is also a beautiful change from your usual high necked styles. You (including Sam and Jo) look amazing! Brava!

Fabulous pictures - pure, bright happiness and joy!
Exceptional talent in wearing red and mixing new and old pieces in delightful way!

  • Suz replied 1 year ago

So happy and bright. Spring has come early to Seattle! Love it all. Especially the way the dog tags harmonize with your specs and beautiful blouse. :)

I adore BF jeans. I was actually going to do a post about that, too.

  • Kyle replied 1 year ago

The belt, bag, boots and coat tie everything together so beautifully and crisply. The new jeans are wonderful for you. I love them with the graphic sweater, and then also the juxtaposition with the feminine floral top. You make pulling these outfits together all look so easy and effortless, it really amazes me. Such a talent. And Jo and Sam are cuter than ever!

  • Jessikams replied 1 year ago

What a cool idea to make a camisole in a matching print. I’ve never seen that before.

  • Carol replied 1 year ago

When I see those pants, I want to pair them with the platform heels featured in early 90s Deelite videos.

  • Bijou replied 1 year ago

Two fabulous additions, I love how Essentiel Antwerp embraces bright colour. Sam and Jo are adorable, it is always a delight to see them.

  • Jenni NZ replied 1 year ago

Lovely! Great pants and pairing, and beautiful new blouse/cami. I like widely spaced florals I think though I never heard of them before! I think I have been wearing some from the late 90s recently- I took a skirt suit to Thailand.
    Back home now.
I do wonder how much longer you’ll be happy to have your year of birth on your front?! At nearly 62 I can’t imagine walking around with 1961 proudly on my chest! YMMV?!

  • Star replied 1 year ago

The red jeans look stunning on you.  I love BF jeans so I am chuffed to see how you wear them.   How excellent to get a matching cami with the blouse.  I always wear camis under soft blouses.

  • Olive Green replied 1 year ago

Love the tomato red. Suits your energy!

  • Mirjana replied 1 year ago

OMG, those pants can really launch into orbit, so gorgeous on you. Red and cream and oatmeal are you winner combination. The new blouse is beautiful. Enjoy!

  • Dee replied 1 year ago

Such great outfits, fab pants and the blouse is so pretty. I love the idea of a pair of colourful boyfriend jeans for the spring.

  • lyn67 replied 1 year ago

You always make my day when posting, Angie! Jeans are very You, love the outfit with the matching red sweater and the outmeal calming pops on- that blouse and coat are also gorgeous!

  • LJP replied 1 year ago

Great new collection of pieces here,  Angie. You look so great in red, as others have already said.

  • Angie replied 1 year ago

Thanks for the kind and gracious words, everyone! Appreciate it.

Kyle, Slim Cat, Lyn67, Kelly, Mirjana, Dee, Bonnie, Blue Jay,  and ChristalJ, I'm blushing.

Irina, Olive Green and LJP, tomato red is close to my heart so good thing it likes me back :)

Suz and Jaime, I know you enjoy BF jeans! Good to know you do too, Star. They are the only jeans I like to belt these days. The waistband is in the right place.

JenniNZ, interesting! The thought hasn't crossed my mind, actually! Graphically and visually, 1970 looks beautiful. It happens to be the year I was born, and I love the '70s ;)

  • Janet replied 1 year ago

Super pants on you! And that blouse is so pretty. How smart to offer a matching cami with it. I seem to add a black cami under 90% of my blouses but sometimes black just isn’t the answer and it’s not so easy to solve.

  • Angie replied 1 year ago

Jessikams and Janet,I know, right?  The matching printed camisole is a really clever idea - AND sold as a set with the blouse. Flop-proof!

  • Laurie replied 1 year ago

Outstanding outfit, Angie - really love the whole combination. A new fav in a long list of Angie hits!

  • Joyce B replied 1 year ago

Lovely, happy outfit. I am also loving the floral blouse.

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 1 year ago

Precisely what Kelly said. You look fab! xoxo

  • April replied 1 year ago

Print blouse with matching cami?  Wow.  That is next level.

Hi little guys!  You probably LOVE getting a bath and never sulk about it...

  • Laura replied 1 year ago

Holy 80s fabness, Batman! The red jeans are superb on you - that silhouette is killer. My favorite combo is with the sweater but the blouse will transition the 80s jeans beautifully into spring.

  • JP replied 1 year ago

Great pieces, you look gorgeous in those outfits. I have always loved your 1970s jumper.

  • rachylou replied 1 year ago

    High Octane! :)

You are killing it with your recent shopping. This jeans are fantastic on you, such a happy color. Love the pattern of the blouse too, it will go with so much.

  • Angie replied 1 year ago

Such kind words! WOW. Appreciate it.

Laurie, Sharan, JP, Helena, and Joyce, thanks for being so lovely and gracious!

Rachy, a high energy look to match my own high energy.... ;)

Laura, my ‘80s Style Sister! We need these pants in white.

April, maybe all see-through and sheer patterned blouses should be sold with a matching patterned camisole. (Sam and Jo are bathed weekly and yes - they are very good :) )

anchie, it’s a Euro brand. Try the jeans! They go well with these bottoms in my bottoms capsule:

Hugs to Sam and Jo :)

  • Jules replied 1 year ago

I adore blush and tomato together. Love the pants and both outfits!

  • RobinF replied 1 year ago

Oh wow, love both the pants and top! They are so fabulous together! I am having a hard time adjusting to the wider pants on me, maybe if I see them more I'll get used to it :)

  • Angie replied 1 year ago

Brooklyn, Sam and Jo send hugs back :)

Jules, I like blushing tomatoes too! Packs a punch.

RobinF, it's fine if you don't. Feel free to stick to tapered hems.

    Cee, and succeeding :)

  • Debbie replied 1 year ago

Angie-The column of red is beautiful. You look amazing. Your personality shines through.

The blouse is beautiful. It has just the right colors and print. It’s like it was made for you.

I absolutely adore Jo an Sam.

  • Angie replied 1 year ago

Debbie, you are sooo sweet and supportive. Thank you :)

  • MsMaven replied 1 year ago

Wow--I can imagine people applauding as you walk by. The pants are just slouchy enough. Before I saw the photos I thought--oh no--not baggy pants, but you demonstrate that slouchy isn't the same as baggy. Few floral patterned tops appeal to me, but this one is great! So tempting. I can actually imagine wearing this one.

    Great post!

  • Angie replied 1 year ago

MsMaven, glad you were pleasantly surprised ;)

I don't wear oversized clothes, but fluidity, boxy cuts, some slouch, and room in the right places is very welcome.

  • Jonesy replied 1 year ago

Super-late here (life has been way too dramatic lately!), but I had to say that these tomato red, pleated beauties were made for you! I love the column of color with the cream accents (yay for the 1970s and belting!) and oatmeal coat--quintessential Angie style! Your new floral set is very pretty and will look so lovely this spring and summer. Sam and Jo are adorable, as usual ;).
