My Potentially Fab White Heels (Pics)

Heels are relative. This is the highest heel I can manage unless I'm seated :)

Number one footwear need on my shopping list is a dressy white, off-white, or cream CLOSED-toe shoe to wear with dresses and skirts for Spring and Summer. It's a big hole.

Must be pretty, refined, stable, secure, a good fit for my narrow feet, and above all VERY comfy. I live in the city and am on foot 99% of the time. I need to be able to walk Yorkies Sam and Jo, run errands, walk to appointments, walk to restaurants, and I walk fast. I also don't want to pay the earth for them.

TALL ORDER!!!

Tried and returned quite a bit. Tried a few pairs of slingbacks. Unstable and can't walk fast in them - (as I know from past experience but I tried again anyway. I am always trying, and trying hard!). The straps slide down the back. The shoes fall off my feet, unfortunately.

Unlike many, I enjoy a good Mary Jane. They work for my feet and style! To my eye, they are visually right on my shape feet. I got a suede toffee pair last year that are winners. After trying all sorts of other shoes that did not work, I ordered the same shoe in white. They have a dear little gold buckle:

A VERY good fit. Sized up half a size because they are short, and I have long toes.

I am walking around in them at home in my casual outfit with tiny in-house fashion stylist Jo. We are HOPING they pass the at home test. So far, so good.

Fingers crossed! xo

They look really pretty on your feet, and I can see how useful they can be. Hope they pass the test. Love how you and Jo have coordinated outfits.
I am also searching for something similar but could not find anything in white that I liked and just ordered this shoes instead, moment of madness probably :)

  • Angie replied 1 year ago

Thanks, anchie! The Mary Janes look awfully pretty. I am drawn to them :)

LOVE those lime loafers for you! VERY on trend. Hope they work out. I didn't know you wore high heels, actually :)

  • anchie replied 1 year ago

I don’t wear heels LOL, that is why I think I lost it. But hoping that they are not that high because of platform.

  • Suz replied 1 year ago

Waving at my sweater twin!! That sweater is FAB with red pants. Hmmm....  ;)

The shoes look terrific, too. I have the same problem with slingbacks. I really wish I did not. I love them so. But a Mary Jane can work because of the strap. I like them a lot in white.

Jo is hilarious. She always looks as if she knows she has done something naughty and is hoping to be forgiven.

  • Angie replied 1 year ago

anchie, AHA! Well. We you never know, they might work!

Suz, thanks! I know what you mean. We need a strap on the vamp of the foot for comfort and walking. And you are dead right about Jo. She rules the roost and is as naughty as all heck.... :)

  • Irina replied 1 year ago

Oh, Jo is so adorable! Shoes are great on your feet, Angie, very refined looking. Hope they pass the comfort test.

  • Dee replied 1 year ago

Such pretty shoes, I hope they work out for you. Love Jo giving them the once over, and adorable that you both match too.

  • Indigoprint replied 1 year ago

    I like them!

  • April replied 1 year ago

I had the same thought as Suz about Jo.

Love these shoes - must admit I clicked on your thread because I was like "HEELS?  What heels?"  These are a perfect height.

  • Janet replied 1 year ago

I hope they pass the comfort test for you! Jo is just the cutest thing ever!

I don’t know why I just have zero interest in Mary Jane’s for myself. It just feels totally the wrong vibe for me, unless I just haven’t seen the right ones. Is there such a thing as an edgy Mary Jane? LOL It’s too bad because a strap would possibly help me keep shoes on my heels.

  • Cardiff girl replied 1 year ago

Very pretty,Clark’s have a cream pair very similar to this that l ve got my eye on!I don’t wear a lot of shoes though, boots and sandals but not shoes.l hope these work out for you.

  • Jenni NZ replied 1 year ago

I went back and read the blog post where I said I was a qualified Yay on Mary Janes.
Wasn’t there a famous Sex and the City quote about Manolo Blahnik Mary Janes?
You might be persuading me further. These are so pretty on your dainty feet. And Jo is just adorable.

  • Angie replied 1 year ago

    Thanks, everyone.

Irina, I know you like a refined shoe too!

Dee, us gals like red! Actually, the boys in the Cox Castle do too. Family colour along with navy.

Janet, I suit a twee look! I've seen hard edged mary janes you might like.

    Indigoprint, yay!

April, nothing higher for you and me. HIGH FIVE :)

    Cardiffgirl, the Clarks sound lovely!

  • Angie replied 1 year ago

JenniNZ, thanks! I don't remember the quote, but I'm sure you're right. And come join me on Team Mary Janes :)

  • Sal replied 1 year ago

These are perfect Angie- I am a yes on Mary Jane’s too!

And Jo is adorable. Looking at you with love and mischief…

  • cat2 replied 1 year ago

Those look great! I have some Aquitalia suede Mary Jane low heels that I like.

And Janet, for team edgy, Madewell has lug sole Mary Janes.

  • LJP replied 1 year ago

Really nice for your aesthetic , Angie . I have warmed up to the Mary Jane look and might be tempted for next fall . There are Mary Jane - ballet flat hybrids around that are interesting to me too . Looking forward to more inventory in stores here to check out . Spring hasn’t quite sprung yet .

  • CarolS replied 1 year ago

These are fabulous, Angie - I am all for a Mary Jane style. I hope they work out for you!

I’d love to find something similar in silver or pewter. Although I would take almost any colour if they felt reasonably good on my foot!

  • RobinF replied 1 year ago

I am not usually drawn to Mary Janes but find myself open to them right now. I generally prefer loafers - sling backs don't stay on my feet either. These look great on you, really nice heel height.

  • Vildy replied 1 year ago

Depending on what the outsole is like, I often stick on, or a cobbler could, this grey textured pad under the forefoot and I find it helps with grip right away.   And, yes, of course I like those and wish for you to wear them in an abundance of good health and good cheer.

  • Tanya replied 1 year ago

The shoes are gorgeous and look great on your feet.  Let's hope they pass the walk test.

I share April and Suz's thoughts on Jo looking mischievous.

I have a similar pair of Mary Janes, in grey patent, with slightly higher heel.  For this spring, I am considering adding a pair in lavender with triple straps.

  • replied 1 year ago

Wonderful white shoes! Hope these gems work for you :)

  • Karie replied 1 year ago

Very pretty! I adore Mary Jane’s. I don’t think I have ever seen them in white.

  • Style Fan replied 1 year ago

Jo is adorable.  The shoes look so pretty on you.  I hope they work out.

    UPDATE: KEEPING THEM!

    Thanks, everyone!

Sal, cat2 and Karie, I remember that! Go Team Mary Janes. We are a small and meaningful team :)

LJP, hope to welcome you to the Team! I've tried a few ballet flat Mary Janes, but need a more supportive sole. I like the look too.

CarolS, you need a wide toe box, right? I may have a pair for you.

    RobinF, I LOVE loafers!

Vildy, do you mean you stick it under the soles of the shoes? Hope you are in good health!

Tanya, those are gorgeous, and very you!

Nikki and Style Fan, lovely to see you chime in :)

  • kkards replied 1 year ago

I love a Mary Jane, and these are fab!

Glad that they worked for you!

    A lovely dainty shoe!

  • BlueJay replied 1 year ago

Yay! You're keeping them! They look lovely on your feet. Jo is so cute.

  • Zaeobi replied 1 year ago

Yayy to keeping them - they fit your modern retro vibe so well!

What does Jo's top say? I spy 'Mum' but not sure about the rest

  • Bijou replied 1 year ago

    Jo has second child syndrome!

I love these shoes, they are gorgeous on you.

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 1 year ago

Beautiful! And wardrobe hole filled! You and Jo in your color coordinated outfits are adorable.

  • slim cat replied 1 year ago

So sweet! The shoes and Jo of course ;-)  ! Pretty perfect for your style!

  • Sisi replied 1 year ago

    Absolutely beautiful!
Jo is so adorable, how i would like to cuddle her!

  • jussie replied 1 year ago

Pretty! They look perfect for you. I have always liked Mary janes on others. They seem to look a little off when I wear them, but I am glad there is another option coming to the fore now rather than loafers all the time.

  • replied 1 year ago

    Aww Jo :)
    Shoes look perfect for you!

  • Jonesy replied 1 year ago

These are a slam dunk for you: lovely style + comfort! I'm glad you are keeping them. Jo is too, too cute!

  • Angie replied 1 year ago

Thanks soooo much for the kind and encouraging words, everyone! Appreciate you chiming in. Jo too!

Sisi, Jo would love to cuddle you too!

Zaeobi, Jo's sweatshirt says" Mummy's Little Girl" :)

  • Jaime replied 1 year ago

Totally perfect on you! I also have mary janes I will be breaking out soon, although mine are flat and yellow! I am in good company!

  • Angie replied 1 year ago

Oh, Jaime. Those sound delicious! And as my foot twin, I need to borrow them.....

  • Inge replied 1 year ago

Woohoo!! I hadn't had time to chime in yet, but have been holding thumbs all weekend for your gorgeous new shoes! Soooo glad they are working out, Angie!! They are stunning, and perfect for your style!

Jaime - Ooh those sound fantastic too!

  • CarolS replied 1 year ago

Yes, Angie -- thanks for remembering  - a wide toe box is what I need -- and a low heel!

I'll be in NYC at the end of the month and hope to be able to try on from a broader array of brands and styles than I can access at home.

  • Ginger replied 1 year ago

I just saw these, Angie, and went WOW! I got shoes very similar to these a little while ago! (Though at the Dillard's clearance store.) Wider strap for more of a Mod look and flat for me, but otherwise basically identical. I haven't worn them yet, but now that it's warmer I think I'll try them tomorrow.

  • Angie replied 1 year ago

    CarolS, maybe try these:

Ginger, LOVE THOSE!!! High five, and enjoy wearing them tomorrow :)

  • Cee replied 1 year ago

Mention Mary Janes and my mind immediately goes to:

  • Cee replied 1 year ago

...and Angie could pull that off :D

  • Cee replied 1 year ago

    Angie Dinkley and Sammy-Doo !

    I sense a franchise !

  • The Cat replied 1 year ago

Very pretty shoes! In 1971, I had a beloved pair of white Mary Janes that were very similar to yours, Angie. Only exceptions: My heels were golden, and each strap were fastened with a small golden ball. :-)

  • CarolS replied 1 year ago

Oh, thanks for the suggestion, Angie! I'm going to take a closer look and see. In addition to the one that's totally flat I see there is also a small heel that might be interesting.... I have to work on my online shoe shopping phobia...

  • Angie replied 1 year ago

The Cat, those shoes sound beautiful :)

    CarolS, good luck!
