Wearing Hair Clips Again (Pics)

Bought hair clips on a whim at Anthropologie a few months ago. Gold and white pearls. Fab sartorial match ;)

I used to wear my hair clipped back like this about 20 to 25 years ago. When I didn't wear my clip, people would ask me - where is your clip! I've come full circle, I guess.....

Now that my hair is finally longer, I've added the clips back in, now and then. Really embracing CHANGE - (my word for the year, and following through like gangbusters).

A little '60s. A little Downton Abbey. Modern Retro. Just for fun! And keeps the fringe out of my face when I'm annoyed with it.

Pics with varying hair clip styles. Thanks for looking. xo

Super cute, Angie -- and yes! If I were to wear my hair in this style, I would absolutely need clips or barettes to keep it out of my face in the wind! Or when bending over something, cooking, etc.

  • Angie replied 1 year ago

Thanks, Suz! The long fringe is more annoying the it's straight. When wavy, it behaves better. Hooks onto my specs ;)

I'm in a beanie in the wind and cold so good at keeping hair out my fave too!

  • rachylou replied 1 year ago

Oh, this is a very different road. But yet completely in line with your style(!)

  • Dee replied 1 year ago

Such a pretty and whimsical touch, Yes, a longer fringe can be rather annoying at times even at my length. I sometimes give it a little twist and then clip it into place with a pretty barette too.

  • Inge replied 1 year ago

So fun that you found ones with pearls!-) You rock the look, of course!
And I think I read somewhere recently that hair clips are trending again;-)

  • ChristelJ replied 1 year ago

Wonderfully modern retro, as you say, and with your glasses even more so. Having a little extra subtle bling like this is completely charming. I love it that you've come full circle, but in an updated way.

    Lovin the hair jewelry :)

  • April replied 1 year ago

    So pretty!

Your elders (myself) call those clips "bobby pins" and the curly-haired among us are howling that they keep your hair off your face.  ;)

  • Minaminu replied 1 year ago

Very nice! Love the hairclip with the pearl, very you!

  • Irina replied 1 year ago

Having fun with fashion and hair!

  • Angie replied 1 year ago

Thanks, everyone! Appreciate the kind words.

Nikki, hair jewels made me smile :)

Dee, a twist can do wonders.....

April, YES. Bobby pins are an American term, I think.

    ChristalJ, you are so sweet!

Inge, they seem to have a fashion moment every year! They appear on the red carpet too.

Rachy, Minaminu, and Irina, keeping fashion lighthearted and fun is a good way to go!

What a great solution and you look charming. I may have to try this because my hair sometimes drives me nuts.

  • Helena replied 1 year ago

    CUUUUUTE as a button!

  • Sal replied 1 year ago

How fun - pretty AND practical!

  • Roberta replied 1 year ago

I sigh with envy for the fun hair accessories! We called some of these barrettes and thought we were very French.

  • Runcarla replied 1 year ago

Channeling Margot Tannenbaum!  I love hair ornaments and you look so fab, Angie!  Actually, I watched the last Downton Abbey movie on the plane yesterday.  Adore the fashion of that era, and how they wore their bobs.

  • Laura replied 1 year ago

Everything comes full circle! Wonderfully retro and practical too. Single pearls my favorite but double row of pearls fabulous too!

  • Angie replied 1 year ago

bonnie, YES! Try it. I like the word charming, and am chuffed you used it :)

    Helena and Sal, thanks!

Roberta, barrette is another American term I learnt here.....although I've lived in France.

Carla, Margo Tennebaum is dead right. And the Downton movies are awfully entertaining!

Laura, always fab to hear your positive voice!

Super cute hair pins! I love that they are pearls and match your jewelry. Very modern retro, as you say.

  • CarolS replied 1 year ago

LOVE! Reminds me a bit of the utterly adorable British historian Lucy Worsley.

  • MsMaven replied 1 year ago

Nice clips! They work so well with your glasses.

  • Angie replied 1 year ago

    Thank you!

    Tanya
    , we appreciate a matchy-matchy touch :)

    CarolS, a delightful comparison!

MsMaven, yes! I was surprised how well the clips worked with my specs. A little maximal - but I don't mind that. Retro is a fun way.

  • Jenni NZ replied 1 year ago

We called them bobby pins here too- unless we learned that term from the US? I own some I wear for Art Deco dressing up.
Love the pearl ones on you especially the double row. Very pretty!

  • AJ replied 1 year ago

Fun! Perfect for spring and summer!

  • Lisa W replied 1 year ago

Love them on you, Angie! What was your inspiration for CHANGE?

PS And good for you on the gangbusters embracing of CHANGE

  • Jaime replied 1 year ago

The modern retro looks suits you beautifully! And I love your expressions!

  • Sisi replied 1 year ago

Lovely clips! I always liked hair clips with some spark when i had longer hair. I particularly like the ones in pic 1 and 2 - simple, chic and ... Angie-esque !

  • Cee replied 1 year ago

So much more aesthetic than a clothes peg and WAAAAY less painful than a stapler !

...and yes, you don't need to do that more than two or three times !

  • bella replied 1 year ago

I love hair clips. The super thin ones look very sophisticated to me.

  • Janet replied 1 year ago

So cute! The pearls make them so seamless with your style. Lucky you to have a forehead that you can show so beautifully. I have bangs for a reason, LOL!

  • replied 1 year ago

    :)

  • Joyce B replied 1 year ago

Fun addition. Also check France Luxe, they have nice hair accessories.

  • Angie replied 1 year ago

    Thanks, everyone! :)

Appreciate the kind words. Running out the door. Back later....

  • Cardiff girl replied 1 year ago

Aww,so cute! You can carry this look off with aplomb.

  • Karie replied 1 year ago

I love the modern retro look of the clips. And in true Angie style, they’re pearls! Super fabulous!

  • BlueJay replied 1 year ago

Very cute! Yay for pearls! Your hair looks fabulous!

  • Angie replied 1 year ago

Thanks for looking, and being lovely :)

  • Jonesy replied 1 year ago

I am late here, but had to chime in: I love this look on you--yes to Margot Tannenbaum and that fab historian CarolS referenced! They look fab with your specs! I had a professor who had a long sharp bob and wore a bobby pin or two just like this, and I thought she looked so chic and interesting.

  • Angie replied 1 year ago

Jonesy, your gracious words are a treat :)

  • Mirjana replied 1 year ago

Your hair clips are so gorgeous, you look lovely with them.

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 1 year ago

How fun! They look terrific with your bob, and it's so great you found some gold ones with pearls.

I really enjoyed barrettes and clips when my hair was longer. I got some at Anthro then, too. And Madewell (probably wouldn't fit your style) and Nordstrom (probably would).

  • Angie replied 1 year ago

    Thanks, sweet Mirjana

Sharan, I bet you ROCKED those barrettes! :)
