WIW: CLASSICALLY Dressed

Every item in this outfit apart from my red eyewear is classic. My straightened bob is classic too!

fit & flare dress, tailored tall boots, satchel, fitted coat, moto, and denim jacket = CLASSICS

I enjoy the classics as much as the trends :)

I tend to like louder classics, so in a bright, bold pattern, or in crisp whites - and these days in a few earth tones too.

Waving to Team Dark Floral Brooklyn and Suntiger - although the background of my dress is navy (not black), in which case I'm waving at Suz too!

I've worn the version with the old red coat the most because it's Winter. I enjoy repeating outfits!

Excuse the bad light upstairs with the full length mirror. That's why I take pics downstairs in brilliant light so that you can see colours accurately.

Thanks for looking! xo

Lovely Angie - I would take this outfit and repeat it too! Especially with the red coat.

It’s classic but full of personality and verve.

  • Angie replied 2 months ago

Sal, as a member of Team Dress, I had you with the frock ;) Thanks for the kind words!

  • anchie replied 2 months ago

I remember that red coat! Fabulous outfit, no surprise there. I like your camel complement, I am wearing more earth tones myself this days. In other photo with wavy hair it looked like you have layers, but now it seems all one length? Very versatile haircut.

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 2 months ago

The dress is stunning on you, Angie. I love how it coordinates so beautifully with the boots, matching bag and moto jacket. What a great silhouette and length for you, too.

  • ChristelJ replied 2 months ago

You are very graceful in your classics. Those shapes are enduring for a reason. The dark floral is rich and bold, just gorgeous. I'm really enjoying the touches of earth tones on you lately, too.

  • Dee replied 2 months ago

The classics never looked better, beautiful floral midi dress, and its interesting about wearing louder classics, it somehow helps to keep them fresh and modern.

  • slim cat replied 2 months ago

Love louder classics - great way to brighten up darker winter time!
Gorgeous red coat to go with your red eyewear and bright smile!
The term "louder classics" is perfect - going to borrow it ;-) .
All my moto jackets are classics I guess ( current favorite in my wardrobe ).

  • Runcarla replied 2 months ago

Fab as usual.  Those boots are the bomb!

  • Jonesy replied 2 months ago

Wow, simply sensational! It's a delight seeing you in the navy + earth tones, and the read coat is fabulous on top! Everything looks gorgeous and well-considered.

  • pirouette replied 2 months ago

Really lovely Angie and your hair keeps getting better and better.

  • Angie replied 2 months ago

Thanks for the kind words, everyone!

anchie, lovely to see you chime in! YES to wearing more earth tones, and YES to my versatile haircut. It has strategically layered areas, so that it lies nicely. You can barely see them though ;)

Sharan, ChristalJ and Dee, such gracious and sweet comments as always. Much appreciate just how lovely you are!

Slim Cat! Go Team Louder Classics! You wear your motos with panache :)

Carla, these tall boots were SUCH a good NAS purchase! Now I can wear Winter dresses and feel insulated.

  • Angie replied 2 months ago

Jonesy, thanks for the lovely compliments! I had you with the pattern.  Always so gracious :)

    Pirouette, appreciate the hair affection!

  • Suz replied 2 months ago

What an absolutely stunning dress on you, Angie! It's perfect for your winter wardrobe -- navy background, orange to spice it, high neckline, fit and flare -- just wonderful! I love it with the coat or the jacket and with the boots it has a slightly 70s feel in the best possible way. Gorgeous!

  • Joyce B replied 2 months ago

Fantastic outfits. Even Sam goes with them. :)

  • Mirjana replied 2 months ago

Oh, great dress! You are Angie really a Queen of dresses, always wonderful on you. Beautiful with the red coat for winter and also with jacket for spring. Enjoy wearing.

  • merwoman replied 2 months ago

Gorgeous dress! You are breathtaking in it!

The designer of this dress Tanya Taylor is from Toronto! Her store is on Madison Avenue in New York. I was so taken with this dress after seeing it in the YLF finds that I sought out the store on a trip to NYC last fall thinking it might work as MOG dress for somewhat casual wedding celebration. I tried it on and that was that! Incredibly comfortable, warm, packs a dream, dress it up or dress it down it’s amazing. I’ve worn it half a dozen times ( that’s a lot for me!) to the wedding, dinner dates and casual luncheons.

  • Angie replied 2 months ago

    Thanks so much!

Suz, that's high praise and I'm blushing. YES, I was after a nod to the '70s with the red coat look, and love that you noticed! Got lucky finding this dress :)

JoyceB, lovely to see you! My earth tone additions are very Yorkie-friendly :)

Mirjana, always gracious and a honey-pie. I much enjoy my dresses!

Merwoman, wooohoooo! Love being dress twinsies with you! YES to the fabness of our frock, and wonderful that you're enjoying it so much. I bet it's gorgeous on you. ENJOY!

  • AJ replied 2 months ago

Love that dress on you! I especially like it with the moto jacket. Your hair is beautiful! Are you going to grow it longer?
    YLF!

  • cjh replied 2 months ago

Oh so pretty, especially with the toffee moto. And your hair is divine at this color and length.

  • Bonnie replied 2 months ago

I love your new dress and all of the ways you have styled it. Your hair looks fab, too.

  • Jaime replied 2 months ago

Beautiful! You really do suit straight hair as well as wavy! Interesting I would never have looked at this outfit and thought classic dresser but I can't dispute the way you break it down. Your outfit posts always are a treat!

  • Sisi replied 2 months ago

The dress is fabulous on you, very Angie-esque. Stunning with he red coat but I also like it very much  with the cognac jacket and boots. Super chic! Lovely furry accessories as always.

  • lyn67 replied 2 months ago

You always find the best colors for your prints, love this dress-totally You- and very elegant with the wiskey boots&bag complement! I also enjoyed to see what coat did you layer over-that is also stunning! Not to speek about hair-very clever if you say it also has some strategical layers but really here looks  so smooth and feminine like not having any!! Will be curious about the shoulder length, too...:-)

  • replied 2 months ago

Love it all! I'd wear it too :) I don't remember seeing that fab coat before.

  • Angie replied 2 months ago

    Appreciate the kind compliments!

AJ, yes, growing my hair to shoulder length. Hopefully by the end of the year :)

cjh, thanks for the hair love, and fab to see you chime in!

bonnie, you are lovely, just like your comments!

Jaime, such sweet words that make me smile! :) To my eye, loud classics look less classic. Maybe to you too?

Sisi, fab you chimed in! I'm blushing at your compliments. Sam and Jo send tailwags :)

Lyn67, thanks for your always gracious comments! Much appreciated. Hopefully the shoulder length hair will be lower daily maintenance!

  • Angie replied 2 months ago

Suntiger, thank you! Yes, I can see you in your version of this look :)

Red coat is 7 years old. Have shown it before - but not often.

  • Laurie replied 2 months ago

Angie, you look amazing. I do love your hair straight at this length! I'm particularly drawn to the shorter jackets with this fab dress, boots, and bag.
    Always learning from you!

  • BlueJay replied 2 months ago

Beautiful Angie! KILLER! :) I really like the shorter jackets too.

  • Inge replied 2 months ago

You do both equally well, Angie, trends and classics!
This is such a stunning dress, really sooooo good with those awesome boots! And I love all the toppers too!

  • Star replied 2 months ago

Gorgeous classics!  YLF!  Love all combinations for different occassions and weather.

  • Angie replied 2 months ago

Laurie, lovely to see you chime in! When I can actually keep my hair that straight - it looks good ;)

Inge, my fab friend, you are the sweetest. Thank you  :)

Blue Jay and Star, you make me smile! Appreciate the kind words.

  • Lee replied 2 months ago

That dress is so good on you and it definitely works amazingly with the jackets and the coat. Moody florals are always interesting to me. I love that whiskey/cognac bag, it’s a great size and utterly
perfect with your hair and the dress. Of course the glasses and coat are on point together but the glasses are super fun as the only pop of bright color too. Your hair is stealing the show. I have had bobs most of my life. I love them.
I have neglected my dresses lately, I take inspiration here to pull one out soon.

  • Karie replied 2 months ago

So pretty! I love all things navy, and this dress looks fantastic every way you’ve styled it.

  • Carol replied 2 months ago

Of course I love the pattern, but what I REALLY love is the unique combo of midi dress, 3/4 sleeve, and mock neck on that dress.

  • Bijou replied 2 months ago

Classics done well look timeless - you look stunning.

  • Angie replied 2 months ago

Lee, that's high praise, and my toes are tickled! Thank you. Hope you wear a dress soon too :)

Karie, always lovely to see you chime in! Appreciate the compliments, and hug your pups for me.

Carol, the dress was a lucky find! On sale too. It has full length sleeves actually. I scrunch them up.

    Bijou, I'm blushing ;)

  • RobinF replied 2 months ago

Ooh love it! The earthtones work so well with that dress! And those boots were a great purchase.

  • April replied 2 months ago

I love a dress and you're doing this one so well! But of course you are, it's your job to do style well. :)

  • Debbie replied 2 months ago

You look amazing. That dress is beautiful. The toppers compliment it wonderfully.

  • Helena replied 2 months ago

Wow, you look amazing in earth tones! Beautiful as always :)

  • Angie replied 2 months ago

Robin F, Helena, and Debbie, your gracious words make me smile. Fun to wear earth tones more regularly :) Thank you!

April, you are delightful! Appreciate you.

  • Lana replied 2 months ago

Beautiful as always! I love the pairing of the tan boots and jacket, but to me the red coat is an unexpected addition with the dress and that makes it an exciting combination. You are so good at this.

  • Ket replied 2 months ago

Radiant AND killer all in one! I particularly love the dark floral dress and red coat :D

  • Laura replied 2 months ago

I just love how you've embraced your natural hair color and those harmonious caramel-ly, yummy colors. And OF COURSE the dress has launched me into fashion orbit! You are right at home in the Kingdom of Queen Dress!

  • harmonica replied 2 months ago

I love this outfit!! Your red glasses and red coat adds a vibrant punch which makes it so fun. Very inspiring to see classics worn in a modern way. And of course the best accessory is your wonderful smile.

  • Angie replied 2 months ago

Thanks for the kind words, everyone!

Lana, nice to see you chime in. The red coat was a VERY good buy, many years ago. At the NAS for a steal too. Go Team Classic!

Ket, you are a honeypie, and make me blush! :)

Laura, high praise from our first Queen Dress launches me into orbit ;) I'm finding my natural hair colour very versatile too. Who knew! Very unexpected.

harmonica, such sweet words! I like a good match, and am humbled to have inspired you.

  • Brooklyn replied 2 months ago

So good!!! (I like a blue based dark floral too!)

  • Kyle replied 2 months ago

Well, first of all, your hair goals have been achieved. Beautiful! I just trimmed my bob an inch. And your dress is just so pretty. Your style has really evolved and softened, Angie. I still remember your “strict” looks with short hair very well.

  • Angie replied 2 months ago

Brooklyn, our Queen Dark Floral, thanks for the compliment! Nice you like a bit of blue in the mix too :)

Kyle, thank you! YES. The hair is finally there after two years and two months of growth and no chemical treatment. It was a slog. My new "soft and pretty" look feels dead right, and I'm enjoying it! Have come full circle ;)
