OOTD: Scrubbing Twinset

This is what I'm wearing today....to work, cook, do chores, scrub the house, and take Sam on walks. We are committed to staying at home to help Seattle maintain its flattened COVID-19 curve. It's working.

I have a sore back - (injury from a fall four months ago) - AND, was very unmotivated to do my PT exercises this morning. I am sick of their monotony, although they do help. I did not do them. Oh, well. Tomorrow is another day.....

I clean and sanitize our loft home every afternoon. It's calming, controlling, and I find it therapeutic. Every Friday afternoon in isolation, I SCRUB the house extra vigorously. So today was about finding a practical outfit that was scrub-friendly. I chose wide leg jeans and a very old short and fitted twinset. I pop a huge apron over the top and wear gloves as I scrub. The activity actually helped my back feel better!

After yesterday's slim jeans, I was all too happy to wear bottoms with a roomy fit. I have become intolerant of jeans and pants fabric grabbing onto my legs too tightly. Loathe wearing my yoga leggings - (what's new pussy cat? :) ) - but it is what it is. They work best for working out.

The daily drill for my AT HOME LOOK: shower, styled hair and make-up, an outfit that panders to my feelings when I get dressed, at home only sneakers, and some important accessories.

YES. I scrub in my pearls.

Two toppers here. Very old leather jacket for the milder part of the day, and an even older coat for the colder part. Casual crossbody.

It will soon be mandatory to wear masks around here. They are impossible to buy at the moment, of course. So I've been walking Sam with a makeshift scarf mask since that's all I have. I can't sew one - no machine - nor do I have hair elastics - or any elastic - to make one. So this is it for now. Greg bought fabric masks so we will hopefully have them soon. Then we can wash and wear clean ones daily.

CEO Sam is keeping a watchful eye on me.

Thanks for looking. I'm off to cook halibut and veggies for supper, and take Sam out again. Have a lovely weekend! xo

Love #6 version. I love to see your cheerful outfits. Sam is so photogenic.

  • slim cat replied 4 years ago

Fab outfit for cleaning - love your way of wearing pearls over scarf/mask in pic#17 - genius!
Sam is adorable in #4 especially - CEO' siesta time :) .

  • Angie replied 4 years ago

Thanks, MsMaven! Yes. Sam is a natural :)

Slimcat, you are lovely, and Sam would agree with you. Paid siesta and playtime FTW!

  • Jenn replied 4 years ago

You crack me up. Where are your rubber gloves?

  • Suz replied 4 years ago

What a fantastic outfit on you! I love the bright colours and your legs are a thousand miles long in those jeans. What could be better.

I'm going to be wearing a scarf mask, too, if they make them mandatory here. Only thing I'll have! So it will have to do.

    You look like Spring!

  • Runcarla replied 4 years ago

This is my favourite outfit so far!  (I’ve always loved that twinset.)

Did the grocery shopping today.  I’m prepared for not seeing anyone (except the folks in my bubble) for another 14 days.

  • smittie replied 4 years ago

Cleaning in pearls is so... civilized :-)
    I like your pants!

  • JAileen replied 4 years ago

I can’t believe you wore such a nice outfit to do housework!  With pearls!

  • Bonnie replied 4 years ago

You certainly scrub in style. Your twin set is beautiful and looks great with your jeans. I wore a shirtdress over jeans today.

  • rachylou replied 4 years ago

Those are some fancy chore duds!

You can sacrifice a pair of hose (or even socks) to make ear loops. More comfy maybe than hair bands:

I’m impressed! For me, scrubbing sometimes involves bleach, so I don’t wear anything nice. I’m so glad Sam wasn’t too worn out to model again.

  • taylor replied 4 years ago

Oh,  I remember that twinset !  Still looks fabulous!
I scrub in my jewelry too.  I have been know to paint in jewelry as well!.

    Angie
Thank you for brightening my day.
    #OOTD is great.

Oh Angie - you’re too funny :) I scrubbed the tiled floor areas in the condo today too - also on hands and knees , but lets just say I looked slightly different ;) And I agree with Suz - your legs look a mile long in those jeans ! Keep on doing your thing- and I hear you regarding the tedium of physio exercises . You’ll pick up again tomorrow , I’m sure.

Fancy look for house cleaning, I think your manager agrees. He is not too sure what the bandana is about, though.

  • Joy replied 4 years ago

My most favorite twin set of all time! Be careful with it and those pearls. You look fabulous.

  • Cardiff girl replied 4 years ago

That outfit is too nice to do the cleaning in!As for boring back exercises,l hear you.Would it help to do them with the radio/music on,in a different room, incorporate them into a wider program of general exercise like your yoga routines?l do mine with the radio on and a good view down the road from my living room to help pass the time.Gently increasing the repetitions or extending the exercises can help you feel like you are progressing as well rather than staying static.Would your pt offer phone advice on how to progress things?

  • Liesbeth replied 4 years ago

You really made me laugh, scrubbing in your pearls :). Cleaning tends to hurt my back so I'm glad it worked out the other way for you!

  • nemosmom replied 4 years ago

Of COURSE you look smashing - even just to clean!  Even your plié is great! ;)  Sending healing vibes for your back!

  • Bijou replied 4 years ago

You look beautiful and why not wear and enjoy your lovely clothes even when cleaning which makes sense given your superpower of staying clean.
Having a day off the exercises is good. We all need a day off sometimes. Ferris Buler”s Day Off had a great message that we MUST From time to time throw caution to the wind and have fun.

  • Kyle replied 4 years ago

Love how the Tiffany blue bag makes everything pop. Fab.

  • ChristelJ replied 4 years ago

It doesn't at all surprise me that you and your home just glow! Bijou is right you have a superpower. Gorgeous twinset on you. Love the pretty and proper scarf too!

  • Jules replied 4 years ago

Outfits like this which incorporate old items with new trends are my absolute favourite to see and put together. I remember the twin set, and love it with the jeans!

  • Preppy Pear replied 4 years ago

I was so relieved to hear you donned an apron! All I could think was, nooo! Don’t splash bleach on your lovely outfit! But I think it’s great you are wearing your lovely clothes no matter what you do. These outfits are a bright spot everyday.

  • Jules replied 4 years ago

Also, totally agree that OT exercises are so repetitive and boring! I’d so much rather do just about any workout or activity.

  • kellygirl replied 4 years ago

You set the bar for scrubbing outfits. I wear sweats for fear of ruining anything I love! Hear you on the monotony of PT exercises!

  • Laura replied 4 years ago

The photo of you wearing pearls on top of the scarf (and the way Sam is gazing at you) had me cracking up. Well played!

  • Gail replied 4 years ago

All simply lovely on you and cheers up the day so much to see nice bright colors. It's chilly here and all my bright clothes are much too thin to wear right now.

  • Angie replied 4 years ago

Thanks so much for the kind words, and making me laugh too! Much appreciated.

    *lots of affectionate air hugs*

To Preppy Pear and Kathie's point, I would not have worn this if I was scrubbing with bleach. But I'm cleaning bleach-free with a HUGE apron and gloves. And then there's my super power of somehow staying clean :)

Jules, Cardiff Girl and Lisa P, thanks for the thoughtful words about my PT routine. I did my exercises this morning! And powered through the boredom. It DOES help. I'll do yoga tomorrow.

Joyce, Sam is put out by my mask. Can't give me kisses :(

    Carla, good for you!

    Laura, I have pearl priorities.

Taylor and Bijou, go Team Wear Jewels with Chores!

Rachy, a good option. Thank you.

  • The Cat replied 4 years ago

I remember your multi-coloured twinset, and I love your chic "scrubbing outfit," including the pearls. I do housework in similar outfits. :-)

  • anne replied 4 years ago

Glad your pt was better today. You have done so well to manage such consistency with them so far. Most people don't. I am in awe that you didn't get the legs wet on those jeans!
Long and remembering the twins et.

  • Jaime replied 4 years ago

What a great outfit and fantastic silhouette on you Angie! I would never be able to clean in it but I don't have your super power even one little bit. So good that you have a structure to your day and that Sam gets you out. I wonder if everyone is not suffering a bit from Vitamin D deficiency - which is also important for fighting viruses. I am trying to get my family to take supplements but it is not as easy as it sounds :) .

  • kkards replied 4 years ago

Omg.   I can not.  I just can not. Even when I clean with non bleach cleaners, I end up with cleaner all over me, and stuff gets ruined.

You remind me, in the very best way, of the photos from the “Old days” when you’d see pictures of women  vacuuming in lovely dresses and heels.  Wish I could be that person, humbled that I know someone who is that person

  • Jjsloane replied 4 years ago

You are too gorgeous! Shiny as an apple cheeks amid all this chaos. I will have to up my cleaning outfit game, but I still don't think I'll enjoy it.
I popped out the sewing machine this weekend to make masks and lo and behold it does not work. I ordered a new one because I have a huge stash of fabric.

  • replied 4 years ago

Way too nice for cleaning, and yes your legs look miles long! Love your aqua/turquoise jacket and bag!
Love your doggie pics on the walls too :)

  • Angie replied 4 years ago

    The Cat, HIGH FIVE :)

    Anne, I'm trying......

Jaime, walking a doggie daily gives you some vitamin D. You're dead right about it being very important!

Thanks so much for the sweet compliments.

    *air hugs*

  • Helena replied 4 years ago

The colour of that crossbody is SO beautiful. YLF, as always!

  • lyn67 replied 4 years ago

You know Angie am the happiest of them all when able to see your wiw posts I so missed for years in the past!!! Please keep you good habit, we love your lively, bright and stylish outfits! This is the most arty twin set in the world, and I just love you in wide hems and  sneakers.

  • Angie replied 4 years ago

Thanks for being so nice, ladies! xo

  • Sara L. replied 4 years ago

You look significantly more put together than I do when I clean - luckily I have teen/tween boys that help clean house now (no house cleaner during shelter in place).  We're moving towards mandatory face masks as well although I think they're just highly recommended right now.  My awesome neighbor is sewing them for everyone in our neighborhood using leftover fabric from past sewing projects.  I'm so thankful for her.

  • ZoeyGirl replied 4 years ago

Gasp! I remember that twinset! I had only been following YLF for a few months and it was the first time I truly connected to the blog. I later went back to purchase it, but it was sold out.

  • Barbara Diane replied 4 years ago

I’m swooning over your sweater set. I’m so happy to see your outfits on the forum.

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 4 years ago

That twinset! An Angie classic. It is so beautiful with this pair of jeans--what an inspired choice. The silhouette is fantastic, and I love the medium wash denim with the tones in the sweater set. And of course, the pearls really finish the outfit.

  • Angie replied 4 years ago

Oh, Sharan and Barbara Diane, you are both such nice and lovely ladies. Thank you.

Sara, teen boys come in handy :)

  • Stagiaire Fash replied 4 years ago

Your legs look 100 miles long! Love all your fancy posing. I’m not surprised floor scrubbing helped your back. What an alternative to the other exercises! Stay well.

  • Eliza replied 4 years ago

You look more put together to do household sanitizing than most here look heading to work downtown. Always fabulous Angie. I never tire of that twinset; great color combination and so perfect for you. Appreciate how you assemble outfits with a blend of current and more classic pieces. Makes it all look deliberate.

  • Angie replied 4 years ago
