WIWs: Bold Gold Striped Wildcard

I was shopping with fabulous and fun fashion friends last week when I spotted a pair of BIG striped gold and cream pants. Tried them on, and fell in love! Nice match with my darker hair too.

When my wonderful friends gave me the thumbs up - that was that. Worn them three times already! They are the biggest pants in my wardrobe.

SURPRISINGLY, they are very easy and comfy to wear as I go about my day at home and in the city. No tripping hazard, no floor sweeping messiness, and great to walk Yorkies Sam and Jo in too :)

Here are the iterations.

1. White Shirt + Cream Loafers + Red Support Act

2. Citron Sweater + Cream Loafers + Cream Bag. (White Denim Jacket + Citron Bag for when it cooled down).

3. White Cotton Pullover + White PG Sneakers + Blue Denim Jacket + Cream Barrel Bag (It was cool that day).

The PG Sneakers are new. I passed on three pairs of old sneakers and bought ONE pair to replace them.

The citron sweater is new from Zara too. Very versatile item for my style!

All the other items are old, and very old - some go back 17 years.

Wildcards that work are exciting and exhilarating! Thanks for looking.xo

Never, ever in a million years would I think to style these pants with a citron top, handbag and cool blue specs, but this uniquely Angie outfit sends me into orbit.  I like it with a shorter top because the pleating detail is so interesting. Then again, the pops of red in the first outfit are great, too. Who knew such a distinctive wardrobe item could be worn so many ways?

Even Jo is impressed, and she sees super fab outfits EVERY DAY.

They look better on you than the model, for real. Plus your accessories and fur baby seal the deal.
I love a bell bottom jean, they seem to give the wearer a little more ‘presence’ , maybe a grounding effect?
    Hope they come back!

The swoosh factor of these pants has to be off the charts! And do I spy a special appearance by Ms. Valentino herself in photos #3 and #4? LOVE LOVE LOVE! I'm with Kyle and little Jo - super enamored with the pants! And as always, your outfit creativity levels are off the charts!

Wow, those pants ARE big, Angie! You wear them with your characteristic panache. They look fantastic on you. I especially like 10-13, but gee, the citron combos are so inspired. I also love that you added a cross-body strap to your Valentino bag; the drama of its design pairs really well with the equally dramatic wide-leg stripes.

The new Paul Green sneakers look fab on you. I tried a similar pair and wanted so badly for them to work, but the heel bugged me, so back they went.

    #13 is a Killer! :)
Wow, these are amazing, drama pants. Love them with citron, too. Very unexpected!

  • Angie replied 5 months ago

Thanks so much, everyone! Back to comment individually tomorrow  - we're hosting a dinner party and I need to make a platter ;)

  • LJP replied 5 months ago

These are crazy - but / and you wear them SO well . Much better than in the stock image . I also deeply covet those new sneakers . You wouldn’t believe the Cdn price .

  • Suz replied 5 months ago

I love these on you so much! They are super dramatic and fab. They work with your dark blonde hair and new sneakers like magic, and  are especially great with white on top, in my opinion.

Fun to bring out the sentimental red bag!

  • Star (Lise) replied 5 months ago

    Phenomenal pants!

  • UmmLila (Lisa) replied 5 months ago

These are so fun, almost like a sweeping skirt.

  • Dee replied 5 months ago

Wowza!! That's a whole lot of pant, but somehow you can pull them off with great panache. Citron top looks fab with them but I especially love your combo in photo # 13.

  • Aurore replied 5 months ago

I LOVE these pants, and you wear them so well! They look amazing with the citron top, and #8 is pure fabulousness. Incredibly inspiring!

  • Brooklyn replied 5 months ago

Love them so much!!! Styled to perfection of course. I like 12, 13 and 14 (of course) the best. I saw something similar in a burgundy stripe but I was too slow and they were gone. I will have to be more vigilant :)

  • kkards replied 5 months ago

Love love love the subtle pleats on these pants.  So well designed
because I’m colorphobic my favorite is the white sweater version, and the sneakers where just made for this outfit!

  • Tanya replied 5 months ago

Such fun, dramatic pants! Love all the ways you have styled them.

  • Janet replied 5 months ago

They are crazy but you make them work! They actually have the vibe of a maxi skirt. Your stylings are so creative and suit you so well! A successful wild card indeed.

I have to say the use of a crossbody strap that blends in with the color of your top has me thinking of new possibilities for my bags.

And those sneakers are cute. Of course, now that I have plenty of thick-soled sneakers, these minimalist ones are back in. Sigh! I’m not getting rid of my existing sneakers, but I’m tempted to add a pair of low-profile ones in white. Paul Green is usually a good fit on my feet.

  • Karie replied 5 months ago

Sweet Sister! I LOVE those pants, and every outfit is smashingly fabulous. And that red purse! Always a favorite. And it looks like sweet Jo loves it all too.

  • Sisi replied 5 months ago

What funny, beautiful, screaming "Summer" pants! And they are also practical. I love them worn with the denim jacket ( because you know, i always like a bit of blue) but YLF in all outfits. That doggie with that naughty face is adorable ...

  • kellygirl replied 5 months ago

You are a vision in stripes! What a fantastic set out outfits. So many options, as usual. I saw these in finds and thought they would have limited potential. Boy was I wrong. Love this. Thanks for sharing, Angie. You always manage to open my mind!

  • Roberta replied 5 months ago

Oh, they're so GOOD with the yellow top and accessories! What a great find.

  • Bonnie replied 5 months ago

    Fabulous!!

  • Angie replied 5 months ago

    Thanks, bonnie, and Lise!

Kyle and Laura, that's high praise and I'm blushing! Much appreciate your awfully kind words - thank you! Welted tops come in handy, and red is a neutral in my wardrobe! YES, Ms. Valentino comes out to play regularly - my favourite bag of all time, of course. (Jo sends tail wags and kisses your way!)

Olive Green, I like bell bottoms too. Fun bit of drama! As for the model, I think the pants are too short in the rise and length for her, hence the fit is a little off. I guess that made them fit me!

Sharan, such gracious words and astute observations. Many thanks! Sorry the PG sneaks were a bust. URGH! That no-lace feature is awesome!

  • Angie replied 5 months ago

Irina, nice compliment :) And citron is surprisingly versatile.

LJP, thanks for the sneaker love and compliment! They are sooo comfy. To bad about the Canadian price :(

Suz, thanks for the kind words! I love the pants with white with you. ! Will try them with my denim shirt. And we love our pops of red :)

Ummlila, I know, right? Like BIG culottes!

Dee, thanks for your gracious words, as always :)

Aurore, your excitement is inspiring! Thanks for the kind words, and my toes are tickled.

Tanya and Brooklyn, appreciate your kind compliments! Go Team Wide Legs. Their mega swoosh is awfully fun to wear! Hope you find your striped versions ;)

  • Angie replied 5 months ago

kkards, the sneakers are a fortuitous good match! I enjoy pleated pants with you. Team '80s, FTW.

Janet, thanks for the cheerleading! These pants are my "maxi skirt" :) Yes to a bag strap that matches the colour of your top. I like how it disappears. Happy to have inspired you! I see low profile sneakers in your future.....

Karie, you make me smile! Thanks for your always gracious words. Jo sends tailwags to Cosmo and Callie.

Sisi, we like the addition of blue! The pants are surprisingly practical, and Jo is impatient to play - not pose ;)

  • Angie replied 5 months ago

Kelly, appreciate the awfully kind words, and I'm blushing :) Thank you! Items in stock photos can be misleading - which is a shame.

Roberta, citron works with lots of colours! I think you enjoy it too.

  • Jaime replied 5 months ago

Wow you wear these beautifully! I like how you have matching sneakers too.

  • Lisa replied 5 months ago

Those striped pants are amazing! No wonder you've already worn them three times, they look so swooshy and fun to wear.

All outfit combinations are lovely. The white paired with the pants is a slam dunk combination. The citron really punches up the fun factor. And the new PG sneakers are a perfect match! Of course I adore the matchy matchy moment they bring to these pants. :)

  • Lynne replied 5 months ago

These are so YOU, Angie! I all these looks and seeing your Valentino satchel again makes my ❤️ happy :).

  • Bijou replied 5 months ago

Always lovely to see that citron Furla bag come out to play - so perfect in this outfit!

  • sabimct replied 5 months ago

    WowWowWow!!!
Thanks so much Angie, for taking the time to style these and share the pictures!  You are truly and inspiration, and I hope you don't think this is weird, but often I have you 'sitting on my shoulder' when I am out shopping.  And it's a big help to be channelling YLF as it helps me to better curate my wardrobe [and say NO to many things!]

  • Angie replied 5 months ago

Jaime, thanks for the compliment, and yes! It was a fortuitous sneaker match.

Lisa, sooooo fun to wear! Thanks for the kind words, and I’m high fiving your match-matchy gene :)

Lynne, you are lovely, and I missed you! Appreciate your grace.

Bijou, my citron satchel is a FAVOURITE! And at least 10 years old.

Sabimct, thanks for the compliments! Wonderful to know that YLF provides helpful info for your style life :)

  • Carol replied 5 months ago

Looks like I never replied. So glad you have fun with your clothing in a way that isn't fluorescent crocs with novelty socks! I guess that is harsh to most of the population, but what I am saying is--these pants are wildly fun while still looking presentable, how you have styled them. I also love that that stripe is actually gold--one more for the metallic collection.

  • Angie replied 5 months ago

Thanks, Carol! Presentable, and surprisingly practical ;)

  • Ket replied 5 months ago

Super fresh and fun!! I really love these! They're better than my flares/bellbottoms haha! :) (I'm still on the hunt!)

The stripe color is great too. Going by the title, I was actually expecting almost a metallic gold stripe in the pant ha! This gold beige color is really lovely, especially with all of your white and acid brights!

  • Angie replied 5 months ago

Thanks, Ket! Fresh and fun, as you describe it, sounds therapeutic and I'm going with it! The stripes are more metallic gold in person ;)

  • aloha emily replied 4 months ago

Those pants are a delight! Especially love them with the citron and white. Thanks for beaming with joy in every pic- seeing your bright spirit makes my day every time.

  • Mirjana replied 4 months ago

Wow, Wow, Wow, how extraordinary pants. Only you can wear them in the best way. You look awesome.

  • Angie replied 4 months ago

Emily and Mirjana, such generous words! Thanks so much :)
