WIWs: Frocks and a Skirt

Wiws, from earlier this week. Summer Everyday Casual. For context, I live in the city, and walk a lot.

We've had hot weather in Seattle, like the rest of the US. My summery frocks are frolicking in the heat! You'll see more dresses later.

I LOVE shirt dresses!!! My absolute favourite type of dress. Most of my dresses are sleeved shirt dresses at a midi or midaxi length. Cotton. Covered. Cool. Comfy. Casual. I wear them boxy like a sack, or with a self-belt. Always with flats.

Here are the same two dresses I bought in two colours, a while ago. They are my breeziest and most lightweight dresses. They were AMAZING in the high humid heat of New Orleans last year!

I don't wear sandals, unless I'm in beachy Greece or Italy. I prefer my toes covered in the city!

The other outfit is my ONE Summer skirt. And I love it! I'm a dress person, so one everyday Summer skirt is all I need.

Nothing is new, except for the initial "A" necklace, and the gold NAS flats.

Thanks for looking. xo

Elegant and classy. You rock, Angie!

  • Lisa replied 4 months ago

The print on these dresses is so much fun and the colors are very energizing and make me smile. :) The sack shirtdress style looks very comfortable to wear too. I have also purchased the same item in two different colors from time to time, and doing so has always been a home run.

Your one summer skirt is a lovely piece. But I'm really drawn to that top, what a wonderful shoulder detail which really pops nicely with the brighter green color. The metallic accessories finish off this outfit so well, it's simply divine!

  • Jenni NZ replied 4 months ago

Oh I love that green top on you Angie! It looks a slightly different colour in your photo than as a Find- slightly warmer? Really suits you. And I love your new gold flats.

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 4 months ago

Wow, these are all dynamite, Angie. At first i thought the orange and navy dress had a section of light blue and orange diagonally across the front, very avant garde!...and then I realized that's the sunshine from the window!
You wear these styles so well. I love the flats with the dresses and skirt. The new gold ones are so lovely with the matching belt.

  • Sal replied 4 months ago

Haha Firecracket I thought the same!

Lovely dresses for the hottest of days. The green is really good on you - such a pretty shade.

  • slim cat replied 4 months ago

Gorgeous! Love the first dress - so bright and joyful ( very you ;-) )!
    Fabulous summer dressing!

  • Star (Lise) replied 4 months ago

These are fabulous dresses Angie!   I can see why you love them and why they work in high heat.  I would have snapped up two too.  Your green and white outfit is so pretty.  Such a fab colour combination for summer.  YLF X 3!

  • Mirjana replied 4 months ago

These are fabulous dresses, the print is so much fun. I prefer red one. But I must say that the skirt outfit is sooo elegant, I adore its. Yes, you said that you were a dress person, but that skirt and green top are wonderful on you.

  • Dee replied 4 months ago

You look so cheery and breezy in these bold print shirt dresses, such a fun way to get through the high heat and the white skirt combo is just stunning on you. You're definitely having fun with fashion and the brights never looked so good.

  • Tanya replied 4 months ago

So much fun all around and your new gold flats fit right in. Your hair looks beautiful.

  • Ket replied 4 months ago

OOO! I love all the breezy easy goodness! Look at all of your hair, too! :D

My favorite is your green top and white skirt. I once had a green top like this, same sleeves too. Though it was a warmer leaf green. I loved it!! Makes me want to find another hehe :) So yes, probably biased.

  • Cookie replied 4 months ago

Ooooooh. I love those bold prints — they’re not Marimekko, are they? But very reminiscent. But the skirt outfit is my hands-down favorite. The skirt fits so well, love the interesting hemline and the architectural sleeves… all things I would not really wear but they look so great on you!

  • LJP replied 4 months ago

Oh!  I also thought the first dress had a band of orange and pale blue across the middle!  Funny :). Anyways, all such pretty and elegant looks.  Such a counterpoint to typical urban muted colours!

  • Angie replied 4 months ago

Thanks for the kind compliments, everyone!

    Irina, such sweet words :)

Lisa, I know, right? Same item in two colours can work well for a wardrobe. HIGH FIVE, and high five gold belt twin!

Jenni, go Team Puffy Sleeves and Team Dainty Shoes! The green top is a little lighter in person, and the sunny spot makes it even lighter.

Sharan, HAH! I guess the sunny spot where I take pics is fab in extra ways ;) Appreciate your lovely comments as always.

  • Angie replied 4 months ago

Sal, my green top matches your awesome green flats!

Slim Cat, lovely to see you chime in! I prefer the red dress too.

Lise, yes to duplicating the same item in colours! Soooo glad I did. Those types of covered lightweight dresses are hard to find - especially in fun loud patterns ;)

Mirjana, you are a Summer Skirt inspiration! I appreciate your eagle sharp skirt styling eye ;)  I slightly prefer the red dress too. Glad I have the blue too!

  • Angie replied 4 months ago

Dee, thanks for your gracious words! Blushing ;)

Tanya, the gold flats are worth duplicating! They are that good. Happy feet, and such a pretty style! Appreciate the hair love.

Ket, HAH! You make me laugh. YES. I have a lot of hair at the moment. Too much! It's coming off next week. Hope you find a similar green puffy sleeve top.

Cookie, not Marimekko! The dresses are by a Belgian brand called Xandres, which has become one of my favourite Euro brands. Yes! The skirt fits perfectly because I had it altered to fit ;)

LJP,  hubs Greg is the card carrying member of Team Typical Urban Muted Colours, so we're represented ;)

  • Suz replied 4 months ago

Those dresses were terrific finds for you! No wonder you duplicated. easy, breezy, and statement-making just in themselves. I like the surprise of the red specs and bag with the blue dress!

The skirt is just gorgeous on you. Love it so much. Swishy and fun.

  • Angie replied 4 months ago

Thanks, Suz! I was traveling, and bought the red dress first - a few days later went back for the blue. Snow on the ground too! Got to grab those winners when you see them. I waited 5 months to wear the dresses - then wore the heck out of them ;)

I can see you in my skirt! It works well on petites, actually.

  • Ket replied 4 months ago

Coming off as in a trim or cutting off length? Can’t wait to see what you do!

  • Jaime replied 4 months ago

Those dresses are gorgeous on you and the bright green suits you beautifully. What a treat for it must be for your neighbors to see you every day! I also prefer closed toe shoes most of the time. I do make exceptions but tend to go right back to closed toes after venturing out in sandals. That is what first drew me to fisherman sandals a long time ago.

  • RobinF replied 4 months ago

Ooh love these outfits! Beautiful dresses and so true to your style! Love them with the elegant flats.

  • Angie replied 4 months ago

Ket, I'll be cutting off some length. It's time...

Jaime, thanks for the gracious and sweet compliments! High five to wearing toe-covering shoes in Summer! Here, I'm not alone. Lots of people wear sneakers in the Summer - and boots. That said, lots of Brikies and slides too (many with socks). YES to Fisherman sandals being an excellent hybrid :)

  • Angie replied 4 months ago

RobinF, we posted at the same time. Thanks for the lovely words. I'm smiling :)

  • Mary Beth (formerly LBD) replied 4 months ago

Angie, as always, you are stunning!   Love love love that skirt, especially!

Funny that your weather is hot.   In Atlanta, we're about 36 hours into unseasonably cool temperatures.   The high today will be 67F!

  • Carol replied 4 months ago

Great dresses, and finishing with a white shoe makes the whole look very smart.
Well, you seem very excited about the heat! I am not. It really just melts the exclamation points of my day :D. But at least this summer I have some linen.

  • Runcarla replied 4 months ago

Wonderful dresses and great summer style :-)

  • Bonnie replied 4 months ago

Your hot weather city dressing outfits are fab. I'm a fan of shirt dresses, too.

  • Kyle replied 4 months ago

I must admit I have a soft spot for the white skirt and have the same one. Beautiful paired with gold and such a gorgeous green. You wear color so well in all of these. It’s inspiring the way you know exactly what works for you.

  • Angie replied 4 months ago

Mary Beth, you are lovely, thank you! Enjoy that COOL Atlanta weather - amazing!

Carol, Seattle Summers are the best! Not too hot, no humidity, and no rain. It's cooler this week - and I'm in ecru jeans and twinset today. Back to hotter weather next week :)

Thanks, Carla and Bonnie! Go Team Shirt Dress.

Kyle, waving at my white skirt twin! My favourite casual skirt of all time.  Thanks for the kind compliments!

  • Brooklyn replied 4 months ago

Gorgeous! I love your gold shoes too. The diagonal strap is so elegant. I’d like something similar but can’t do pointy. Maybe something similar will come my way…

  • Angie replied 4 months ago

Thanks, Brooklyn! Hope you find similar gold shoes that aren't pointy ;)

  • Inge replied 4 months ago

Those dresses were such a fantastic find!! Dressy and breezy, perfect for you!
And what a beautiful and fun skirt, it looks great with the puff-sleeved top too. You are rocking your Summer wardrobe!

  • Janet replied 4 months ago

You have the happiest color palette ever! It suits you so well too. All of these are lovely but somehow I’m especially liking the white skirt with that great green top. Your hair looks so nice too!

  • Angie replied 4 months ago

Inge, thank you, my sweet friend! YES! The dresses are magical, and Xandres is my favourite Belgian brand. Know you love it too  :) xo

Thanks, Janet! Appreciate the kind and colourful words ;)

  • Debbie replied 4 months ago

Those dresses are great. I have been living in dresses too. I love everything about these outfits. I am looking for glasses right now. I love the color of yours. I have tried on quite a few but not sure of what I want yet. I really want a fun pair.

  • Sisi replied 4 months ago

No one wears shirtdresses like you! But my favor goes to # 10 - lovely color combination, interesting silhouette and golden shoes! I would wear this in a heartbeat.  Adorable Sammy.

  • Angie replied 4 months ago

Debbie, Go Team Summer Dress! I can see you in red eyewear to match your nail polish. Try those :)

Sisi, thanks for the kind words - and didn't think you'd like wearing a hectic puffy sleeve. Now I know! Sweet Sam sends tailwags your way.

  • karen23 replied 4 months ago

I like those shirt dresses!  Those big prints are great.
Shirt dresses are one of my favorite styles too, and I like to wear them midi length or below the knee.  Covered enough, comfortable, not fussy.  With luck, I'll have a denim one soon (fabric like they make denim shirts out of.)

  • Angie replied 4 months ago

karen23, Team Shirt Dress, FTW!  Hope your denim shirt dress works out. I have a denim shirt dress too:

  • Karie replied 4 months ago

Those dresses are bold and beautiful! I also love a nice shirt dress. The white denim skirt is fabulous too - is the denim heavy or a lighter summery weight?

  • Angie replied 4 months ago

Karie, Go Team Shirt dress! The white denim skirt is a regular denim weight. Not too light.
