WIWs: 2x Belted Shirt Dresses

These are the last of my new Summer dresses. Now I've shown the forum ALL my dresses - (over the years) - which I keep for a very long time! Some are more than 10 years old. My dresses seem to wear well despite frequent laundry.

Shirt dresses are my thing. Cotton and worn with dainty flats.

These are belted shirt dresses, which is ONE of the ways I wear a shirt dress. I wear them like boxy sacks too, depending on my mood.

1. Stripe Dress: An unusual addition because it's more fitted than I usually wear my dresses. I prefer volume at the bottom. Yet, I love it! It's my most worn everyday dress this Summer because of the exceptional quality and smart casual vibe. Pretty curved hem and side slits (pic #3). It barely creases and always looks polished.

2. Orange Dress:  This is NOT at an everyday dress because it's dressier (shiny fabric), and a lot of dress (pic #8). The swoosh-factor is off the charts! It comes out to play fewer times. I LOVE this dress! I like dresses with bows! It's magical to wear. And orange is my colour of the year.

The last of my Summer frocks! The last of my long hair too. I've had  inches cut off since these pics were taken. So starts the next hair chapter. xo

    Fabulous, both of them!

  • Jaime replied 3 months ago

Your renovation is spoiling us! What a treat to see more frequent Angie pics! You look wonderful in the striped dress. The red (orange?) stripe adds so much vibrancy to the stripe and makes it so you. The orange dress with bow is just gorgeous. The bow makes it - and do you tie it yourself that beautifully?
Finally about your hair - can't wait to see :) .

  • LJP replied 3 months ago

This shirt dress era of yours is such a great look . Retro in sensibility yet modern with your accessories and overall styling . This is a lesson in dressing for your body type too . Love them both ?

  • LJP replied 3 months ago

Also looking forward to seeing your new hair !

  • Dee replied 3 months ago

What lovely summer dresses, I really like the vertical stripe pattern of dress #1, so fresh and polished. The orange dress is gorgeous, love the vivid color combination with the bright pink bow. Looking forward to seeing your next hair chapter too.

Gorgeous dresses, gorgeous you! Love how you’ve accessorized them, the eyewear, necklaces, shoes , bags, it all comes together in a beautiful package complete with bow. Stunning!

  • Angie replied 3 months ago

Nadine, lovely to see you chime in!

Jaime, you're awfully kind and attentive with your words. YES! I tie bows myself. YES! the stripe in the blue dress is orange. I have been posting frequently! Perhaps too frequently ;)

LJP, Modern Retro styles are close to my heart, so glad you noticed and brought that up! Appreciate the kind compliments.

Dee, thanks for the kind words! Fresh, vivid and polished is sweet music to my ears. Blushing.

  • Angie replied 3 months ago

Merwoman! Hello! How lovely. Such sweet words - thank you - and miss you around here :)

  • Suz replied 3 months ago

I'm so over the moon about that orange dress with the hot pink sash! It's stunning! I get that it is not for everyday but what a fab dress to have in the closet!

The striped dress is lovely, too, and looks amazing with your specs! I was going to ask about the crease factor because I suspected it would be quite immune to creases and even if it gets a few, they probably don't show badly, due to the pattern. How wonderful!

  • Sloper replied 3 months ago

Team Orange!  And a swishy skirt. Perfect!

  • Carol replied 3 months ago

Beautiful both, but of course I love the first, because it reminds me of what a professional woman would wear to a newsroom in the 70s...very Network or MTM.
When you said "dainty flats," my ears perked up, because it is fun to pay attention to flats. What do you think of the jelly flats trend that was here this year, that comes and goes?

  • Kyle replied 3 months ago

Love shirt dresses. They NEVER go out of style. Your new gold shoes are just right with both of these, and the gold bag is a stunning finishing touch. Pretty!

  • Star (Lise) replied 3 months ago

YLF x 2! #1 is my shape for sure. Did the orange dress come with the pink sash?  At a second look I see the stock pic has the pink sash, fabulously unusual.  You could never give us too many outfit pics :).  Dying to see your new  hair.

  • bella replied 3 months ago

So pretty! I like your hair here, too, but I am also looking forward to seeing the new shorter style!

  • Mirjana replied 3 months ago

You look wonderful in the striped dress, yes , unusual dress for you. The orange dress is to dye for, awesome on you. You look like a princess, love, love so much.

  • Cookie replied 3 months ago

I love the vibrant orange dress with the hot pink bow so much! Such a beautiful and unusual color palette, especially with the pale blue glasses. Please give a tutorial on how to tie the bow so nicely!

  • Angie replied 3 months ago

    Thanks, everyone!

Suz, such an astute reply! YES! Love the pink sash. More special in pink than in orange. Patterns are great vehicles for camouflage, aren't they ;)

Sloper, Team Orange is a small team. Great to have your company!

Carol, I will now refer to my striped dress as my '70s Network Frock ;)

I think jellies are becoming a bit of an iconic classic...

  • Angie replied 3 months ago

Kyle, we need to get YOU a shirt dress! Come on over to the team :)
Thanks for the kind words as always ;)

  • cat2 replied 3 months ago

It’s been great to see your shirt dress collection. It’s been fun to have so many options at retail for this style, and I do find most of my shirt dresses can be dressed up or down for various occasions, which I think helps give them longevity in a focused closet.

  • Tanya replied 3 months ago

I am a big fan of shirt dresses and both of these look gorgeous on you! I especially like the orange, it is such a signature-Angie color.

  • Val MN replied 3 months ago

Love the big, jaunty bows on both of these!

  • Bijou replied 3 months ago

Stunning, I love the cut of the stripe dress, the curved hem makes it very practical. The orange dress definitely has the wow factor and had to be yours.

  • Roberta replied 3 months ago

Hee hee, we are all very excited to see your new hair style! I particularly love the orange and hot pink combination, those fierce colors are so wonderful in the summer. And I keep admiring those gold flats. They look so comfortable and easy to get on and off. I have a pair of nice Boden gold flats, but the tiny buckle is a huge pain.

  • JAileen replied 3 months ago

I just love the striped one!  I’m kind of relieved it’s completely sold out.  :)    You look fab!

  • Ket replied 3 months ago

I adore orange, so I just ADORE your orange frock! OH MY LANDS! Sizzling and then some!

And I think the striped dress is just so pretty. No wonder you've worn it so, so much! I am a sucker for curved hems on shirt or t-shirt dresses. Loveth this for you.

You have such a great crisp 1950s vibes that I love. Fab as ever!

P.S. Can't wait to see your new haircut!!! I am excited for you! :D

  • Angie replied 3 months ago

Lise, I thought of you and the fit of my striped dress - it's your fit :) YES, the orange dress came with the pink sash, and thanks for the kind words!

Bella, nice to see you chime in!

Mijana, you are awfully sweet with your compliments! Thanks so much, and please live!

Cookie, Go Team Fit & Flare Dress! Love that you love the palette since Team Orange is a small team :)

  • Angie replied 3 months ago

cat2, go Team Shirt Dress! And I'm nodding along to your reasoning for why they're fab. For me, there is no better dress than a shirt dress ;)

Tanya, lovely to see you chime in! Your signature colour comment has smiling :)

Val MN, jaunty is a lovely word!

Bijou, yes to the practical pretty of a curved hem, and appreciate the kind compliments!

  • Angie replied 3 months ago

JAileen, thank you, and thanks for making me laugh ;)

Roberta, thank you - and dead right about my new gold flats! AWESOME in every way, and will be duplicating in Sept. Sorry about those tiny tedious buckles :(

Ket, your excitement has me smiling! Thanks for your awfully  gracious words. Blushing :)

  • lyn67 replied 3 months ago

Wow, WOW, Wow!!! These (and your green one from another thread which I coudn't get to comment on to date) are all beyond fabulous! You know am a dress (and skirt girl) myself, too- so  I always L.O.V.E. getting your  inspirations on this (not so popular for others) clothing item-You really have a gorgeous collection of shirt dresses-and love them accessoriezed with gold, those pointy flats are awesome! And, cannot wait to see the new hair!!!!

  • Lisa replied 3 months ago

You have an excellent dress capsule in your wardrobe Angie! These two dresses are just as stellar as the other one's you've posted previously.

Stripes and shirtdresses is such a perfect pairing together for #1. The orange and pink bow in #2 is such a fun combination! The gold flats are true workhorses they are stellar with every dress! And of course I adore the matching gold bag.

I look forward to seeing the new shorter hair in the future. And the loft looks amazing, so happy for you both!

  • Angie replied 3 months ago

Carla, as RL fan, the stripe dress resonates :)

Lyn67, that's high praise, and I'm blushing! Lovely to see you chime in, and thanks for the awfully kind words.

Lisa, you are sweet and thorough! Thanks for your grace :)

  • aloha emily replied 3 months ago

These are gorgeous!! The orange and pink!!!!!!! You wear them with elan. Seeing you on an overcast Seattle summer day would make me so happy!!

  • Karie replied 3 months ago

I love both but I’m over the moon about that orange dress with the fuchsia bow! It’s super gorgeous and I love, love, love those bright colors!

  • Angie replied 3 months ago

Emily, I learned a new word - elan! Thanks for the sweet compliments :)

Karie, go Team '80s Brights! Thanks for chiming in.

  • Laura replied 3 months ago

My eyes went straight to the bows! You win for Best Bow Tying of the Year! Your mum taught you well (or maybe you're a self-taught bow tier?). I can't pick a fave, both are spectacular in their own way. Your new shoes are pretty! Go Team Dress!
