WIW: The Zara Co-ord

Seattle has been breaking heat records for four days straight. Hottest days ever recorded in May. It is hot. 30C to 33C plus, and humid. And very few people have a/c here - because we never needed it!

We do not have a/c and our loft is HOT.

Hence my VERY breezy, lightweight, and ventilating outfit in 100% cotton. A NAVY and cream patterned pants set (Zara says black - incorrect - it is absolutely navy).

These fluid solid and patterned pants sets were one of my favourite looks in the '90s. Thrilled I can cross them off my shopping list! They are beachy - and perfect for HOT weather when you don't want to wear a dress, skirt, or shorts. I lived in beachy hot Cape Town in the '90s, so it worked very well. It's working as well in our heatwave!

I LOVE this set (and my solid citron set here)! The '60s pattern is appealing, and so is the nod to the '70s. Despite the heat, I've been prancing around in it feeling playful, nostalgic, cheeky, and very comfy!

The sandals have closed backs, so the long hems on the pants work just fine. The hems do not get caught under my heels as I stride.

Waving to ChristinaF who has the same set. Waving to Suz who wants to try the set. Waving to Laura who loves '90s sets like I do. Waving to Katerina who mentioned it's a great alternative to dresses :)

I was at the vet with Sam and Jo this morning. Now I'm off to walk them and run errands downtown on foot. Busy on this sizzling Seattle day. I'm wearing the right thing!

Thanks for looking. xo

ETA: Just saw the weird reflections of sunlight in the mirror. The print is perfect though - I assure you.

Looks like fun! Fab outfit. I've finally learned that shorter skirts (or shorts for that matter) don't work in hot weather because they're no fun when sitting on unupholstered chairs. Yuck! We don't have AC either, but fans in our double-hung windows make a huge difference plus our 1920s thick stucco insulates well.

  • Ginkgo replied 11 months ago

    Wow, you look fantastic!

  • sabimct replied 11 months ago

    Oh so cool! [Pun intended!]

  • Helena replied 11 months ago

Sooo cute on you! Love it!

  • ChristelJ replied 11 months ago

As a pattern lover, can I just say that is the most fun print ever? I love the 60s look of it, and you look super cute! It's fun to see you in the pretty sandals, too, and the bag is a great color pop. Glad to hear your sets are performing well in the heat with no AC (gulp).

  • rachylou replied 11 months ago

Spunky! Total style shake up :)

  • Janet replied 11 months ago

I love it! It looks smashing on you. Stay cool and hydrated! You’re having Baltimore July weather, yikes!

  • Dee replied 11 months ago

Loving that mod print, you look terrific. Also, would you mind sending a bit of your heat my way please :)

  • Angie replied 11 months ago

Thanks for the kind words, everyone! Appreciate it. Sorry to run off. Lots to tick off my list....

Just saw the weird reflections of sunlight in the mirror. The pattern is perfect though - I assure you :)

ChristelJ, the geometric pattern was irrisistable to me too! I love the '60s and '70s.

DonnaF, YES, we have fans on. They absolutely help.

    Dee, *sending over some heat*

  • Tanya replied 11 months ago

It looks amazing on you!  Very fun pattern.  Love #4 with your furbaby, such a happy smile!

  • Style Fan replied 11 months ago

I love the 60s influence!  This set looks fabulous on you.  I wore these sets in the 90s too.  Perfect for warm weather.

  • Angie replied 11 months ago

    Jo sends little kisses, Tanya!

Style Fan, one of the BEST things to wear in high heat. A '90s HIGH FIVE :)

  • Bonnie replied 11 months ago

How fun is this outfit? Every detail is perfect and you are ready for hot weather. Our high is 61F today.

  • replied 11 months ago

:) Meanwhile I had to wait til 9 this morning for it to be warm enough to paddle!
Did you ever get the lime green print 2 piece outfit?

  • Angie replied 11 months ago

Thanks, bonnie! You are lovely :)

Suntiger, your heat came our way!

To answer your question: I kept looking at that green set. I LOVE the colours! But was not wild enough about the pattern, fabric, and too long shirt. I am WILD about this set! It's perfect.

  • Suz replied 11 months ago

It is FAB on you! I didn't get a chance to go to the store today after all so might have to order online. Hope Sam is okay! And yes, it is crazy hot. Same in Vancouver -- just insane heat for this time of year.

  • replied 11 months ago

Gorgeous as ever! Looks navy to me too :)

  • Angie replied 11 months ago

Nikki, thanks for the navy validation ;)

Suz, by all means order and give the set a bash! Sam and Jo are great, thanks. It was vaccination day, today. That's all. Stay cool in our crazy hot....

  • morethanbeige replied 11 months ago

This looks fabulous on you! It’s crazy hot here too.

  • slim cat replied 11 months ago

    Fabulous - love the print! Pic #2 - nice posing ;-) .
My midi skirts are out - enjoying the sun ( the heat went down a bit in Bay Area ).

  • LJP replied 11 months ago

Oh it’s 31C here today and I’m about to perish . The ac in our 80,000 sq ft building is very uneven when it first gets turned on for the season and we were all looking bedraggled by the end of the day . Your set is great ! I think I’d modify it for myself by cropping the pants and wearing a sneaker or coloured mule . Acrylic chunky jewellery too . I couldn’t conceive of wearing patterned pants though so will leave my dream styling as just that ;)

  • Irina replied 11 months ago

Fabulous look, Angie. I wouldn’t mind warmer temps as it is going to be cooler here in the next couple of weeks. Oh, well, gives me time to iron my summer dresses :)

  • Angie replied 11 months ago

    Thank you!

    MTB, goodluck with the heat.

Slim Cat, needed to show the hem width in that pose ;) - and enjoy the dialed down heat.

LJP, I like the styling modifications for your version, which should become a reality!

Irina, I'll wear my Summer dresses for you for a while. We have heat the whole week...

  • Runcarla replied 11 months ago

    This is so great!

  • LJP replied 11 months ago

    In my dreams ;)

  • Bijou replied 11 months ago

Wow - where did Spring go?? It seemed that it only lasted a week!

This is all sorts of gorgeous on you. When Zara get it right, the items are amazing. We get different stock in Australia (about 6 months behind the Northern Hemisphere retail), but I will keep an eye on Zara when we head into our Spring. I can't imagine being able to wear such a bold print on me without it being overwhelming, but it is definitely worth a try.

LJP's comment made me smile and yes, my thoughts exactly!

  • Brooklyn replied 11 months ago

    Super cute!

  • Jaime replied 11 months ago

What a fun and fabulous print. You look modern retro 60s for sure! And you are wearing sandals! YLF!

  • Eliza replied 11 months ago

Love this! Keep the ‘good vibes’ coming, Angie.

  • CarolS replied 11 months ago

Easy, breezy, cool and FAB! How wonderful that it is navy IRL rather than black!!

  • Katerina replied 11 months ago

Wow, it looks like also this set was made for you, Angie! It suits you perfectly and what a great outfit for this weird hot spring. I admire especially how the pattern, though strong, geometric and statementey, harmonizes with your face and frame. The set looks great with the yellow bag. You look gorgeous as always.

And yes, for me, it would be an alternative to dresses for sure. I wear some dresses in the summer, but much prefer trousers. I might try some coordinates, thank you for the inspiration!

  • Kate replied 11 months ago

    Absolutely love it on you.

  • Star replied 11 months ago

Gosh, I love it!  That is my kind of pattern.  YLF of course.

  • RobinF replied 11 months ago

Ooh love it! You don't look hot at all! We don't have AC either and it can get pretty hot. We have window units and ceiling fans for the bedrooms and that makes a huge difference. I figure if I get a good night's sleep I can stand just about anything.

  • lyn67 replied 11 months ago

Ah, waited for this, YLso adorable in the set and esp loved You both in nr 4!:-). You do really have 30C and in need of an AC in Seatle right now??? I am mad about our weather--- all May was raining and 10-15C...I'm shriveling up not else.

  • Joy replied 11 months ago

You look cool and comfortable in the heat.  We are on the edge of the heat dome and it may get into the 70's today.  I am looking forward to that heat and break out the espadrilles and crops it may be time to retire some of the cold spring things and take stock of summer outfits.

  • Angie replied 11 months ago

Thanks for the awfully kind words, everyone! May you all manage the heat.

Katerina, I can see you rock a pants co-ord :)

Bijou, you wear much bolder items that this! Please carry on.

Lyn67 and Joy, hope you get better weather!

Jaime, now that Seattle has hot Summers - I wear sandals from time to time :)

  • Jules replied 11 months ago

I have this shirt - love the pattern! How fun to see the coords together on fabulous you!

(Despite being an overall loose fit I realized after purchasing that it does gape in the bust area on me as soon as I start moving around, so I have to figure out a solution for that even if just wearing a cami underneath or wearing it open over a tank) Just as a fit note for other busty types. I do have this problem in a lot of button downs currently).

  • Angie replied 11 months ago

Jules, have you tried sewing on a few strategic snaps?

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 11 months ago

Oh boy, I love this mod look!

  • Jonesy replied 11 months ago

I'm sorry to hear it's been so blasted hot there, but you are looking chic and cool as a cucumber :)! This is one of my favorite things you have ever worn--you look amazing.

  • Angie replied 11 months ago

Sharan, I can see you sew up your own version! It will be a work of art.

Jonesy, as our reigning Queen Pattern, I am humbled :)

  • Jules replied 11 months ago

That's a good idea Angie, I suppose if I can sew a button I can probably try a snap? Or, get the drycleaner to do it. Thank you!

  • Cee replied 11 months ago

50% of the reasons why I'm here is for the Jo and Sam content :D

  • JP replied 11 months ago

Oh, so good. You make everything look good!!

  • Angie replied 11 months ago

    Jules, I'm sure you'll manage!

Cee, Sam and Jo are THE YLF stars :)

JP, what a sweet thing to say. Thank you!

  • kkards replied 11 months ago

i love a good co-ord, and this one is FAB

i also loved the 90s for the co-ords (or as we called it then, 2 piece dressing), it was an easy and fast way to get dressed and look pulled together. for me it was like a dress, 1 and done, but i didnt have to fuss or worry about sizing like i do on a dress, because i could get 2 different sizes if needed, and/or the tailoring was easier because the pieces were separates

  • Angie replied 11 months ago

kkards, YES! I'm nodding along to every word. 2-Piece-Dressing, FTW :)

  • Cardiff girl replied 11 months ago

Arggggh!l didn’t buy this because they said it was black, how annoying.Still you look fab in it.Off to mutter under my breathe some more about internet shopping.

  • Cee replied 11 months ago

That's what their business card says, Angie !

  • Angie replied 11 months ago

Cardiff Girl, go try the set!

    Cee, exactly :)

  • Cee replied 11 months ago

...and you get 10-20% of the take, Colonel Angie Cox Parker ?

  • Kari replied 11 months ago

It’s so cute and fun. I love the pajama like vibe but especially, and always, appearances by Sam and Jo!
Way to keep cool in our sudden heat wave!

  • Angie replied 11 months ago

Kari, thanks! Sam and Jo are YLF stars, and hope you're staying cool through our heatwave too :)

  • JP replied 11 months ago

I just ordered this set, I hope it will look half as good on me! Can't wait to get it.

  • Angie replied 11 months ago

JP, yay! Excited to be twinsies with you :)

  • mtnsofthemoon replied 11 months ago

I lucked out and picked up this set.  I was surprised it fit my curvy frame.  It is such fun to wear.  I absolutely love it.  Thanks for sharing Angie.  Enjoying the (finally) sunny and warm weather a little south of you Angie (in Oregon).  hahahha

  • Angie replied 11 months ago

Yay, mntsofthemoon! Twinsies! Love that, and enjoy :)

  • Christina F. replied 10 months ago

Sorry to resuscitate this thread - but Angie - size up on the pants worked! No pics yet.

  • Angie replied 10 months ago

Yay! Happy for you! Twinsies :)

  • Cee replied 10 months ago

I hope the weather has cooled a little, Angie.

...Sending cool vibes to thee ~~~

  • Angie replied 10 months ago

Yes, Cee! Thank you. It has cooled quite a bit. Daytime highs of 21C to 26C now. LOVELY :)

    We got your cool vibes.....

  • Cee replied 10 months ago

I'm glad I bought the Hollywood size special effects hurricane fan from Cecil B. DeMillie from his garage sale back in the day !

  • cjh replied 10 months ago

This is so summery and cool, giving a one piece, jumpsuit look. I’m reminded of a similar style I wore in the early 70s, a tropical floral print, and I like this graphic print much better.

  • Angie replied 10 months ago

Cee, an excellent purchase for the Southern hemisphere especially!

cjh, thanks! A two-piece jumpsuit is a great description, and LOVE the '70s :)
