WIW: Earthy Citron and Golf

New palette for me that's working with the new honey blonde hair. Enjoying it and having fun :)

Peached Toffee + Blush + Citron + White

Went out shopping with a casual client for most of the day. I wore smart casual:

  • New bush pants. GORGEOUS FABRIC and quality.
  • Old Citron Sweater - hasn't pilled!
  • Peached Toffee Pleather Moto - NAS last year.
  • White WEATHERPROOF golf shoes (dressier than sneakers and super comfy. Bought on deep discount last year).
  • Old white Furla and citron strap.
  • Pearls.

Also, the perfect oatmeal trench coat found me at J.Crew! On my shopping list for a while. Beautifully made, detachable hood, (a must for Seattle when you're on foot like me), versatile longer length, tortoiseshell buttons, modern classic, great for layering, and dressy. It worked well over this outfit! Sorry - no pic of that. Next time....

REVELATION: my new hair colour allows me to wear beige well! (I've amassed quite a few solid beige items over the last six months). It's not soul-sucking with my complexion ;)  Especially with my sour brights, blues, and whites. First item on my Fall/Winter shopping list is a MAXI wool oatmeal coat. I have worn my shorter wool oatmeal coat to death. It's my new essential.

I continue to wear white, ivory, and cream with joy. Now I can add beige!!! It's UNEXPECTED.

Thanks for looking! xo

    My solid BEIGE/oatmeal items:

  • CarolS replied 11 months ago

oh, Angie -- I LOVE this -- it's far from an expected combination, but that's part of the magic.

  • Angie replied 11 months ago

Thanks, CarolS! Living up to my word of the year - CHANGE ;)

  • Tanya replied 11 months ago

You look stunning!  Such a lovely and unexpected color combo.  And the new trench looks great.

  • Angie replied 11 months ago

Thanks, sweet Tanya! Fun to successfully experiment and enjoy the unexpected. Keeps me on my toes ;)

  • Bijou replied 11 months ago

Welcome to the beige club! I really enjoy wearing beige and find it such a useful light neutral. my beige items are in finds. Your outfit is stunning and now I want a citron sweater and guitar strap!

  • Brooklyn replied 11 months ago

Fantastic colour combo as usual. You look stunning in pic 2.

I want a maxi coat too. What do you classify as a maxi coat? I’m seeing midi coats (below knee) marketed as maxi coats here but I want much longer than that. Almost ankle length. Quite hard to find!

  • Angie replied 11 months ago

Thanks, Bijou! Your beautiful items are toffee :)

I have a few toffee items too. Darker than beige!

  • LJP replied 11 months ago

Really beautiful , Angie , and the golf shoes make me smile . Please don’t start thinking about next fall/ winter - we’re barely out of this last one !

  • Angie replied 11 months ago

    Thanks, Brooklyn

Maxi coats are below the knee and above the ankle. Theoretically, that's a MIDI  or MIDAXI coat - but they call them maxi coats!

  • Angie replied 11 months ago

LJP, thank you. Thought you'd appreciate the golf shoes!

Promise - no more Fall/Winter talk till the NAS ;)

  • SarahD8 replied 11 months ago

Wow, this is a stunning outfit, every detail is right on the mark. I love the tonal mix of the pants and moto!

It's funny -- I think you and I have quite similar natural hair color, yet beige of all sorts is The Worst on me. (Your coloring is otherwise warmer than mine, I'd wager.) Really proves your point that colors cannot be evaluated in isolation!

  • Jaime replied 11 months ago

Unexpected and amazing! The warm color of the moto jacket really works beautifully here. I like the side view of your wavy hair too!

  • Runcarla replied 11 months ago

Super cool colour mixing!  I’m building a beige capsule.  Hope to snabble up these Ecco’s.

  • Aquamarine replied 11 months ago

I can’t get past how pretty your hair looks!

  • slim cat replied 11 months ago

Gorgeous! The hair is amazing! All pics are favorite ;-) .

  • Suz replied 11 months ago

Waving to my pants cousin! Aren't these great? Such a nice fabric, so versatile.

Love the fun and unexpected colour combo.

If my Cole Haans work out we will be shoe cousins, too! :)

  • Sal replied 11 months ago

What a great look Angie and pleased you have a new light neutral!  Yay!!

I always get confused with what is beige, what is camel and what is oatmeal - and then there is caramel and toffee too!!

I can wear the warmer ones...

  • Angie replied 11 months ago

    Thanks, everyone!

SarahD8, the devil is in the details, right ;) - apart from bright white and navy, my palette is warm toned. Yours is more cool toned. You wear greys, and muddier colours much better than me!

Jaime and Aquamarine, appreciate the hair affection!

RunCarla, Go Team Beige! Nice ECCOs.

SlimCat, you are lovely as always!

Suz, we want more of these CM pants! I was too late with the ivory. Sold out. And golf shoes are our new fashion sneakers! Waving at my style cuz :)

Sal, it's all the same........ and different! Stone is a cold beige. Tan, sand and oatmeal are warm beiges. Toffee, caramel and camel are darker. You wear the warmer versions of these well!

  • Kate replied 11 months ago

What a beautiful outfit! Love the golf shoes.

  • Cee replied 11 months ago

    " Super starrrrrrrr !! "

  • Star replied 11 months ago

Gorgeous!  The jacket is fab with your hair as you know :)

  • Cee replied 11 months ago

Oh, and a mic' drop !

  • Sally replied 11 months ago

What gorgeous colours.  That citron must be one of my favourites.

  • replied 11 months ago

Love that color combo- and welcome to team beige! I recently discovered beige is my white and have been collecting pieces too.

  • Paula B replied 11 months ago

    Very stylish Angie!!!!

    Hugs,Paula B,XXX

  • lyn67 replied 11 months ago

Fab outfit you always are the most confident color mixing girl and am taking notes  of your new fab color schemes, as now my hair is gone back a bit darker (from an  almost platinum all over to 8 blonde on the roots). Other than some beige linen blazers I usually can do beiges better in Fall than is Spring for a matter-but I have to be very carefull as contrary to You,  bigger amounts of beige can still really suck me:-(.

  • Staysfit replied 11 months ago

I love this on you and I really love the hair!  Beige is a tough color for me to figure out now that I have silver hair.  Can I wear it or not? I really have no clue…

However, I love citron and blush together, and I have a few outfits where I pair them. Citron is one of my favorite colors.  DD and I fondly call it “funny yellow-green” and I think our shared love for this color originally drew me to YLF…among many other reasons.   I pair citron with blush, orchid, sky blue, turquoise or light teal.

  • sabimct replied 11 months ago

This combo is fab!  Once again, I learn so much from the pictures you post Angie - thank you!

Golf shoes!  I always tell my husband [who loves his golf!] that the closest I will come to that sport is the cute golf skirts :)

  • Indigoprint replied 11 months ago

Well done. I love how the pieces fall into place..

  • Olive Green replied 11 months ago

When I saw the toffee moto on, the outfit just sang out. And the golf shoes are a great idea.
And a shout out for the interpretive dance poses! Love it!

  • Katerina replied 11 months ago

What a beautiful color palette for you, Angie! The citron yellow combined with the peachy toffee is really amazing. So fresh and unexpected. You are excellent at putting together just the perfect nuances for your coloring.

I am going to try toffee with citron and your white will be my black….
I have recently purchased a citron suede handbag. I am thinking black shoes and trousers, citron top and bag and a toffee jacket. A patterned scarf to pull it all together.

  • rachylou replied 11 months ago

I’m Loving the hair! What beautiful colours together on you. I feel jealous :)

  • cjh replied 11 months ago

What a lovely and unique color combo. You look beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

  • RobinF replied 11 months ago

Great colors! Love that jacket on you. I wear all kinds of beiges, not really sure what my colors are :) I don't wear citron though, or I would be tempted to try this.

  • Irina replied 11 months ago

    Absolutely gorgeous!

In my opinion, you can wear any color and look fantastic. It is one of your super powers :)

  • Jen replied 11 months ago

Angie, years ago you posted a yellow and pink combination that was so unexpected and fresh, I’ve always remembered it. Just this very morning I went to put in a new pair of pink pants and thought, What to pair with them? and, thinking of that post, added a yellow v-neck. Now I peek at YLF and see this lovely update on the same combo! Serendipity! Inspiration!

  • Angie replied 11 months ago

Thanks so much Kate, Cee, Sally, cjh, Paula, and Indigoprint! Appreciate the compliments.

Star, it’s a surprisingly versatile moto jacket!

Suntiger, YES. Beige can be “a white”, and it makes sense for your style! I wear all the whites :)

Lyn67, keeping beige for the Autumn works well too!

Staysfit, thanks for the hair affection! I I suspect that silver grey and white is better on you than a warm beige. Try a cool beige like stone. I LOVE citron! I find it versatile. Go Team Funny Yellow-Green :)

Sabimct, you might enjoy golf shoes too!

Olive Green, a happy dance back at ya!

Katerina, such high praise! Look forward to seeing your amazing outfit. Gorgeous bag!

Rachy, thanks for the hair love! Feeling jelly makes me laugh :)

RobinF, nice! Do you wear white and silver grey too? I bet fab with your hair.

Irina, HAH :) - A second super power! I’m blushing.......

Jen, YES! Blush and yellow is a great combination. Fab outfit!

  • Dee replied 11 months ago

Oh looking so fab of course, and isn’t in great having all these new colour options just because you’re going with your own natural hair colour now.

  • Bonnie replied 11 months ago

So different to see you in beige and it totally works. Now I want that jacket and those golf shoes. What fab additions to your wardrobe.

  • Angie replied 11 months ago

Dee, it's been a subtle yet meaningful change I'm enjoying!

bonnie, come borrow them any time...

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 11 months ago

Such a beautiful example of today's blog post. This color combo looks fabulous on you, Angie, and it clearly makes you happy. That is a recipe for a very chic look indeed.

  • Minaminu replied 11 months ago

How nice! beige is such a lovely neutral and it suits you perfectly!

  • Cardiff girl replied 11 months ago

Well it’s amazing how many colours will go with Citroen,it’s almost a neutral!
    You look lovely as always.

  • RobinF replied 11 months ago

Angie - I do wear white and gray too! Pretty much any neutral works for me - at least I think so. I'll have to explore that idea more.

  • replied 11 months ago

Love the blush and toffee paired together! Yummy and unique :) I would like to add a trench coat as well. Maybe without a belt if there is such a thing ;)

  • Angie replied 11 months ago

Sharan, thanks for always being supportive!

Minaminu, I think you wear beige too!

Cardiff Girl, citron is very versatile. I vote neutral :)

RobinF, you can wear grey, beige and white together!

Nikki, there is! I have a tomato red trench coat that is beltless - and thank you.

  • April replied 11 months ago

I will not launch into my usual rant about how the fact that one enjoys a colorful color with many other colors does NOT make that color a neutral.  It makes it versatile.

Instead, I will perseverate on the fact that I saw the subject line and went "Golf?  Since when does Angie golf?"  ;)

  • Angie replied 11 months ago

    April, I mentioned versatile ;)

Not a golfer, but I LOVE the shoes.

  • Cee replied 11 months ago

I can't say I blame you not being a gopher, Angie... getting all dirty as you dig holes and burrows underground everywh* ...Ohh-hhhhh, silly me ! ...You said GOLFER !

  • Debbie replied 11 months ago

I love this combination on you. Hair can play such a big role in our colors. I love your hair!

  • Kari replied 11 months ago

I know I mentioned this already on social media, but I just love this on you! The citron and blush are classic Angie, but the peach/beige is new and I do think your natural hair color gives you extra versatility. This is so pretty.

  • Zaeobi replied 11 months ago

Gorgeous colour combo(s) - though you know I'm biased towards versatile 'pseudo neutrals' all worn together in one outfit (winking at @April ;) lol!)

The terms beige & citron also trip me up - the former being more white than oatmeal yet more warm than taupe? And the latter being more yellow than chartreuse but less acidic than lime?

  • replied 11 months ago

    Pretty coat! I will give it a look-see :)

  • Angie replied 11 months ago

Cee, my super power would keep me clean :)

Debbie, I know, right? Hair colour changes adjust your wardrobe palette. Fun!

Nikki, hope you find something suitable!

Kari, agreed! My new hair colour is more versatile. Lovely to see you chime in.

Zaeobi, of course, you appreciate these colours together! We are colour cousins. The semantics of colour names is interesting too ;)

  • jussie replied 11 months ago

    You look beautiful!

Angie, I believe you could boogie board through a one mile long sewer drain and you'd remain spotless.
