WIW: Bleach Splatter (ETA: the Coat)

I'm an '80s gal. Love acid wash, and bleach splatter! Been on my shopping list for years. Got these rag & bone's for a song! 70% off. Gloriously nostalgic :)

I was shopping with a dear friend when I spotted them at Nordies on  sale. Tried them on.

We agreed. That was that.  I shrieked a little in the dressing room.

Worn them lots already. Today I styled them with a very old burgundy t-neck and pleather jacket. Old boots, new brown belt, and light blue bag. Bag matches my specs!

First I chose cream loafers. Too cold. Changed to taupe boots. Better! Actually, I need a wool coat. Jacket is too cold. But I wore the jacket going up and down our building to have meetings with the contractor and sub-contractor. When I head out to walk doggies and do errands on foot - I'll wear a coat.

For the rest, this is my WFH outfit today. Excuse bad, bad photos in rental unit. Thanks for looking.  xo

ETA: Out and about now. Added my warm red coat. It's 8 to 9 years old. Going strong.

Super cool outfit, bleach splatter never looked so good. It's definitely reminiscent of the 80s, love the burgundy with it all.

  • Angie replied 1 month ago

Dee, such a sweet comment! Many thanks.

Team 80s reporting for duty! Of course I 100% approve of a good acid wash and this one is pretty darned fab. Loved hearing how you decided on the details. Hope the renovations are coming along nicely!

    Laura, my Team '80s Co-captain :)

Thank you! Renovations are finally moving along.....

    Lovely!
I have to admit that generally, I’m not a fan of acid wash but you make literally everything look lovely! it is a true gift!

Hello! This is so random! I am new here and I find this site to be very interesting! I really like your blog “Angie”! I would like to know more about this blog. Could you please Angie reply to my comment and tell me more about it? Thank you in advance!

Such fun jeans! Love the color combo!

  • Suz replied 1 month ago

Statement pants for the win! These are gorgeous on you and so much fun. :) I also love the play on light blue and dark red (a very old blog post of yours). Updated!  I LOVE dark red and light blue, and I also love patterned pants...so this is giving me all kinds of ideas.

Awesome fun 80s look - but very modern.

And your hair - it looks stunning.  I love it.  I wish mine looked this tidy and polished.

Pleased the renovation is progressing - I bet you just cannot wait to have it over and be moved back in.

Terrific!!! Also, you know I love a good turtleneck and puff sleeve. This rich beautiful burgundy color is such a great counterpoint to the jeans. Always a denim trendsetter!

  • JAileen replied 1 month ago

Oh yes!  I love bleach splattering.  I even made my own a few years ago, on a navy cotton sweater.

  • Angie replied 1 month ago

Irina, that is high praise. Thanks so much!

Meruoane welcome! YLF is in its 19th year and there is a blog archive bursting at the seams with original content. I add to that content three times a week.

RobinF, thanks! Lots of love for burgundy on YLF.

Suz, thank you! Humbled to have inspired you. Fab that you hauled out that 10 year old post too. Timeless, right :)

  • Angie replied 1 month ago

Sal, such gracious words! Many thanks. Since we were born in 1970,  we tend to like the same fashion eras ;) - and yes, CANNOT WAIT to move back into our loft.

Kyle, go Team Turtleneck and Puffed Sleeves! Appreciate the kind compliments :)

    JAileen, you make me smile!

Do you even remember having short hair now?? I can't get over how long it is!  So lovely :)  Those jeans are great - and certainly statement making .  Do you also wear them with sneakers?

  • Angie replied 1 month ago

LJP, yes! I miss the ease of my super short pixie daily. Soooooo much easier than long hair. This is the result of three years of patient growth so I'm not chopping it off, yet! Hubs loves the change. And I needed a change too. So we are here for a while. Thanks for the kind words :)

Yes, I wore these jeans with sneakers last week. Works well! Match my bag and specs:

  • Brooklyn replied 1 month ago

These are fabulous! And a bit of a change for you. Almost tie dye :) I like acid wash too and hope to see more of it. I have one acid wash tee in grey. Also an acid wash skirt, but I overdyed it. Acid wash overdyes in a very interesting way!

  • Jaime replied 1 month ago

Absolutely perfect on you! I especially love them with the short jacket where we see them in full force, but of course the red coat is fab and necessary too. A very different Angie but still the same Angie - an exemplary style evolution!

  • slim cat replied 1 month ago

Swoon - so gorgeous! Love it with bright red - reminds me of some cool times in the '80s  ;-) .
My first real jeans were acid wash - in 1989 maybe.
However the best dressed girl in our college/university was wearing acid wash jacket and matching straight jeans with red flats in 1984 - and we all admired the outfit  ( her aunt was Russian famous actress and had access to the best import - Vera Alentova from "Moscow does not Believe in Tears" - Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film  in 1981 ).

  • Debbie replied 1 month ago

Love the acid wash. You look great in them.

  • Star replied 1 month ago

    What Irina said :).

  • Sisi replied 1 month ago

When I read the title I thought you had ruined a beloved item with a bleach splatter! :) (it has happened to me). Luckily it is not so. I like those pants, they make me think of a watercolour painting. I like the way you styled them.

  • Lisa replied 1 month ago

Indeed those jeans are shrieking worthy, they are fabulous! Love them paired with the darker red. The taupe boots and belt are a really nice addition of neutrals and it's so fun that your bag and specs match plus those lighter blues pair with the jeans so well, it makes my matchy matchy gene happy.

You're hair looks lovely at this length and with the soft wave, so pretty!

I hope your remodeling is going well, the end result is worth it but sometimes construction takes a long time. I've definitely been there!

  • citygirldc replied 1 month ago

Love those jeans on you. And that jacket is to die for.

The jean are definitely a nod to the 80s acid wash.

  • Janet replied 1 month ago

Very fun nod to the 80s! Even though you say the pics in the apartment are not good, they always look good to me. :-)

  • Bonnie replied 1 month ago

Love these outfits! If I had to choose one it would be #4. Who knew bleach splatter jeans could look so fab?

  • Angie replied 1 month ago

Thanks for the kind words, everyone!

Brooklyn, the acid wash looks a little like tie-dye, doesn't it! I was drawn to it right away. My '80s gene is strong! Use to wear it a lot in the late '80s. Fun to come full circle ;) - and your dying of acid wash has yielded great results, I bet.

Jaime, always gracious, and I appreciate it!

Slim cat, great story! Fun to have awoken your '80s gene! I will look up that movie :)

Debbie, Bonnie, and Star, great to see you chime in!

  • Angie replied 1 month ago

Sisi, thankfully this is intentional bleach splatter ;)

Lisa, you are sweet and gracious, as always! Thought your matchy-matchy gene might be happy :) - and appreciate the hair compliment!

Naz, let's live for the jacket! I can see it on you too.

Janet, good to know! At least I can get my whole outfit in the pic with just enough light.

  • Joy replied 1 month ago

I love the acid wash. What a great way to update the jeans! Hooray for the matching bag and specks. You look beautiful .

  • Angie replied 1 month ago

Joy, what a sweet comment! Thank you, and lovely to see you chime in :)

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 1 month ago

You are rocking the 80s wash, Angie! And in a totally updated way. Those are not 80s-style jeans, but very now and what a great fit. I love the burgundies and red with it.

  • Bijou replied 1 month ago

You have the best jeans collection and these are a great addition! I love how light and bright this wash is, much prettier than the stone-wash I remember from the 90's.

  • Angie replied 1 month ago

Sharan, thought you might like these jeans! They look like something you would wear ;) - and thanks for the kind words.

    Bijou, appreciate the compliments!
