Update: Longer Hair & WiW

It's been 9 months of VERY slow hair growth from platinum blonde super short pixie, to longer hair in my natural darker blonde. I have no grey (yet). I had an extremely short fringe, that felt like it had stopped growing at one point. Good grief - I almost cut the whole lot off it was so tedious!

Patience has paid off. All of a sudden today, my hair feels LONGER. Sweet victory! Trim tomorrow to neaten the back. Still have several inches to go, so growing without colouring till the end of the year. Then we will see where we're at! Hubs Greg loves my natural colour and never wants me to colour my hair again. Nice to hear :)

It's been HOT in Seattle. Record breaking for six consecutive days. Our loft does not have a/c and the sun belting through two sides of 22ft high windows is relentless. I've been wearing my breeziest clothes, and it helps!

It's a bit cooler today, thankfully. I'm in a very casual outfit WFH, doing errands, and walking Sam and Jo. Sack dress, pearls, and sandals. So easy! It's rare that I wear sandals, but I'm thoroughly enjoying these classic and dainty white gladiators that I managed to get in a NARROW size to fit my low volume feet. They are made in Italy, excellent quality, fit well, and extremely comfy. I highly recommend them if you like a similar look. Comes in colours. I bat for Team Naked Nails, so well groomed feet and hands, but no nail polish.

Thanks for looking! Off to make lunch and walk the doggies. xo

Your hair looks like it is growing gracefully! Fab look for such hot weather. Love the sandals too and good to know they are walkable.
    Thanks for the inspiration!

  • Suz replied 1 year ago

So pretty! I love your natural colour -- it's golden! Looks lovely with the blue specs. Also with the doggies. :)

That dress is perfect for the crazy heat. It's clouding over here a bit so feels cooler, even though the temps remain high. We should get some relief this week.

Sandals look fab. It's nice to get a chance to break out the heat wave capsule! :)

  • Irina replied 1 year ago

Looking fab, Angie! Love your natural hair color. You are so right, growing out hair takes patience.

  • replied 1 year ago

Cool dress! Do I see scrunched sleeves :) Your hair is awesome, both in color and style.

My A/C has been broken all weekend :( The technician was working on it today and will be back tomorrow with a blow torch…

  • Style Fan replied 1 year ago

Your hair looks beautiful—golden waves.  The outfit is perfect for a hot summer day.  Enjoy your walk with the doggies.

  • Star replied 1 year ago

Angie, I love your new look!  I am all about ala natural currently and you look beautiful.   Such  a fabulous breezy dress - that is all I can wear from now on until end August too.  August is one of my least favourite months along with January and February, too extreme. Oh, and my hairdresser cut off my final dyed bits today, after 21 months.  Patience is a virtue for sure.

  • replied 1 year ago

Your look is a whole beautiful summer vibe.  This is the longest I’ve ever seen your hair, and it’s lovely!  You really know how to make those waves work for you.

  • SarahD8 replied 1 year ago

Very nice! I love the wave in your hair.

Your color palette here is different from the hectic brights I am used to seeing on you but I quite like it -- suits your coloring and is very calming in this blasted heat.

  • Helena replied 1 year ago

Beautiful!! Stay cool and hope the heat wave passes soon!

  • Angie replied 1 year ago

Thanks for the kind words, everyone!

Indigoprint, it's only growing gracefully now! Better late than never ;)

Suz, THRILLED to see it cloud over here, and YES to our heatwave capsules! Thank goodness we have them.

Irina, patience is golden, and our hair is getting there at last!

Nikki, yes you see scrunched sleeves! Hope your a/c is in working order soon.

Style Fan,  Sam and Jo send tail wags and little licks!

Star, I love your natural hair, and bet it looks better than ever now!

Xtabay, I haven't had hair this long for 16 years! Change is good, and appreciate the wavy love.

SarahD8, I wear quite a bit of navy, blue and white, white-out, light blue, and blush pink too! Throw in burgundy, tan and toffee sometimes. It's nice to change things up from my hectic brights. Hope you are staying cool! Better today.

Helena, it's going to be a less hot week, thankfully.

  • Vildy replied 1 year ago

Well you just look plain terrific.  And so naturally pretty!

  • Tanya replied 1 year ago

Love the hair and the dress. And Jo is as cute as ever.

  • Barbara Diane replied 1 year ago

What a fun change. I couldn’t imagine it when you started but your hair is looking good. Great that Greg likes your natural color. I’m glad the weather has cooled down a bit.

  • Angie replied 1 year ago

Vildy, what a sweet thing to say, Thanks! :)

Tanya, thank you! Jolly little curious Jo sends happy tail wags and kisses to you too.

Barbara Diane, visuals make a difference, don't they! Appreciate the sweet words.

  • Echo replied 1 year ago

Ooh, your hair looks fantastic! And you are growing it out so gracefully. Most people go through an awkward stage, but I haven't seen one from you!

  • merwoman replied 1 year ago

Love the natural colour and waves! Your hair is a great length now! Mine took about 2 years to grow from super short pixie to your length, it certainly was an exercise in patience.

  • LJP replied 1 year ago

Such a pretty, natural look indeed.  I can't get over how completely different you look with your darker blonde and with so much more hair. It looks very thick and soft.  I'm teetering on that edge again - can I do it this time?  I have no end goal in sight, which is maybe necessary before making a commitment . I think you also have to be content with the rest of your appearance in order to let hair grow - in other words, having hair add one more frustration would be too much, which is why I bail.   I do like your classic sandals - a style like that never dates and is visually cooler too (than sneakers or closed toe shoes).  Hope that relentless sun abates a bit - what do you use for window coverings/furniture protection/privacy  with windows that big?

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 1 year ago

Your stylish bob looks fantastic! What a cool popover shirtdress, too, and sandals!

  • Ginger replied 1 year ago

Oh, your hair is so pretty like this! And the natural color is lovely. Do stay cool. I'm watching the extended forecast and just hoping for a break from our heat, or at least some rain.

  • JAileen replied 1 year ago

So pretty!  And the softness of the pink of your dress is a perfect accompaniment.

  • Runcarla replied 1 year ago

Such a lovely frock, and your hair is giving me a ‘20’s bob  vibe.  (My favourite era and a favourite hair look.) ♥️

  • Sal replied 1 year ago

What a lovely hot weather look.  Love the dress and the sandals.

Your hair looks lovely - very pretty colour.  And the waves are fantastic.

I am considering a hair change..... may be just how I style it ....but it feels like time.

  • slim cat replied 1 year ago

Perfect summer look! Love your natural wavy hair!

  • Angie replied 1 year ago

Thanks, everyone! Your sweet comments are LOVELY.

Echo, that’s high praise. Trust me there were awkward stages!

Merwoman, I empathize with the slooooooooow grow-out. And look at your gorgeous long locks now!

LJP, having an end goal in mind DOES help. My hair is definitely soft - but not thick at all. The waves make it look much thicker than it is! The fact that I no longer colour has made my hair soft. I like that! I won’t sugar coat how tedious the grow-out is. But your long fringe and top will give you a head start! My fringe and top were an inch long.

Sharan, I knew you’d like the dress! Thankfully cooler today.

Ginger, hope things cool down in TX! Sending over some Seattle rain.

JAileen, waving at my soft pink buddy!

Carla, YES, I’m ready for Downton Abbey with this hair!

Sal, change is in the air! I’m curious to hear what you have in mind.

    Slim Cat, appreciate it!

  • ChristelJ replied 1 year ago

Such beautiful hair! I really like it long. Love your sack dress too; I bought a sack dress this summer and it can’t be beat on hot days. Yours is very chic with the collar and sleeves up.

  • rachylou replied 1 year ago

Oh Wow! I love it! A real shake up. So different and pretty!

  • Angie replied 1 year ago

    Thank you!

ChristelJ, high fiving your sack dress love!

    Rachy, I need a shake-up ;)

  • Bonnie replied 1 year ago

Your natural hair color is beautiful, no wonder Greg loves it. That sack dress looks so stylish and comfy.

  • Nadya replied 1 year ago

Your hair is looking great! It’s funny how all of a sudden it tips into long enough isn’t it? Mine will do that in a bad way if I go too long between cuts! Hope the cooling trend continues but we still get more summer.

  • Mirjana replied 1 year ago

Beautiful hair, beautiful dress and beautiful you sweet Angie.

  • Brooklyn replied 1 year ago

Ooh, as a sometime dark blonde or bronde (but not naturally so!), I do like the new colour.

The softer, longer look is lovely and YLF!

  • Jessikams replied 1 year ago

Looks awesome! Perfect for a dog walk. Are your pups calm walkers? Mine is still all over the place in huge gangly puppy style. Every time he sees another dog it’s off to the races

When I can’t be bothered with salon color, I sometimes use “sun-in” type sprays…. Blonding sprays from Sun Bum or John Frieda. They work just fine to liven up my duller dark blonde.

  • Veruca replied 1 year ago

    You look beautiful and fresh

  • Jaime replied 1 year ago

You are beautiful and chic with your gorgeous wheat colored hair. (I just made that up not sure if it is accurate!) You look healthy and glowing from head to toe!

  • kkards replied 1 year ago

Fab!  I hate that growing out pain, but it’s so worth it on the good hair days and than when you finally reach the stage your at.

  • gryffin replied 1 year ago

Angie - you look gorgeous as always!!  Agree with Greg your natural color is divine!!  Men and hair color though...my husband much prefers my natural color.  He thinks the silver adds highlights and he is very vocal about not wanting me to color it again, which works as I am trying hard to strip unnecessary chemicals from out environment.  So all good.  Wonderful outfit, cool but crisp and very elegant.  BTW I do think your hair is plenty long for the drybar single shot, although if you were thinking of doing a chop the 1/2 shot might be the better choice.  The revlon brush is bigger and even the updated one is supposedly much hotter.  The drybar has a lot of flex on temp.  Although fine hair should dry lowest, I found the medium heat and power better.  I'll be playing with this for weeks trying to get the settings and technique down.  But your hair looks fab however you manage it.  Looks really great!

  • Bijou replied 1 year ago

It’s no surprise that you still look gorgeous even in very hot weather and growing out your hair! I had to laugh at the colour issue, my DH likes my hair blonde, with the lighter and longer the better.

  • lyn67 replied 1 year ago

OMG, love the new  natural waves in your hair Angie-how long will be your end goal?  The dress is also fab on you!

  • chewyspaghetti replied 1 year ago

Your hair is looking so cute!

  • replied 1 year ago

Your hair looks great, and Team Sandals FTW :)

  • RobinF replied 1 year ago

You look fab! Love the sandals and the hair grow-out. It seemed to take forever when I was growing out my gray hair. But when I was coloring the growth seemed very quick - haha!

  • Angie replied 1 year ago

    Thanks, everyone!

Bonnie and Mirjana, always kind, positive and gracious.

Nadya, I know exactly what you mean. When I had a pixie, it would feel long at 5 weeks post cut!

Brooklyn, you’re naturally auburn, I think? You have a similar complexion to my late Mum. She had very blue eyes, so she liked to wear murky blues. Your eyes are green or brown, if I recall correctly?

Jessikams, Sam and Jo are very good on their leads and walking. They’ve been trained. Maybe get a doggie trainer to help out? Thanks for the blonding spray tip!

    Veruca, sweet of you.

Jaime, I eat gluten so wheat is fab! Creative.

Kkards, soooo worth it …..now that I’m on the other side of it!

Gryffin, thanks for the info! I’m mulling it over. I LOVE your salt and pepper hair with your black-white-grey wardrobe. Complementary.

Bijou, we have to throw our husbands a bone, every so often ;)

Lyn67, a few more inches to chin length, and you’re lovely!

    Khris, good to know!

    Suntiger, sandals just for you….

RobinF, HAH! Your grow-out is inspirational and love your new silver locks are divine.

  • Jules replied 1 year ago

Wow, I love it al! I want the dress too!

  • Debbie replied 1 year ago

Love your hair and “our” sandals. I wore mine today. I hear you on the heat. Hoping for rain.

  • Angie replied 1 year ago

Jules, thanks for the kind words and giggle :)

Debbie, waving at my sandal twin! And hope TX cools down...

  • Cee replied 1 year ago

Of course it's hot in Seattle... YOU'RE there !

  • Angie replied 1 year ago

oh, Cee. Thanks for the giggle :)

Hope you are well, and lovely to see you chime in.

  • Cardiff girl replied 1 year ago

The growing out is one reason lve never risked very short hair! You are doing well keeping the scissors away  and l am very struck by how much more you look like your mother now your hair is longer.Very pretty.

  • Angie replied 1 year ago

Cardiff Girl, you are right! I see more of my Mama in the mirror too.

  • Sara L. replied 1 year ago

I haven't been on here in ages so your hair looks brand new to me.  I think it looks great on you - both length and color!  I should post a pic - I grew my hair out and added green highlights.  Sorry about the heat and no A/C.  The sandals are really cute with the dress.

  • Cee replied 1 year ago

I survived the flu, but as it turned out it was more upset it had ME !

  • Angie replied 1 year ago

Cee, hang in there, and feel fighting fit soon!

  • RoseandJoan replied 1 year ago

Oh yes, you can definitely see the style emerging in your new lengths and congratulate you on your patience.

I'm also going through a natural style phase but have started using Shrine drops occasionally to mix things up, it's basically like food colouring for hair and you add it to your usual conditioner. https://us.weareshrine.com/collections/hair-dye

  • Angie replied 1 year ago

Fun, Jules! What colour drops are you using?

  • RoseandJoan replied 1 year ago

I've used the ash blonde which created lovely shine and I'm tempted by the white too.

  • Angie replied 1 year ago

Good to know! Which colour do you suggest I try?

  • RoseandJoan replied 1 year ago

    The caramel or champagne perhaps?

  • Debora replied 1 year ago

This is a fabulous summer look!

  • Angie replied 1 year ago

    Jules, I'm on it.

Deb! GREAT to see you chime in. Thank you :)

  • citygirldc replied 1 year ago

The hair, the outfit...you look amazing.  Hope you have a cool Summer.
    XXXOOO,
    Naz

  • Angie replied 1 year ago

Thanks, Naz! You know all too well what growing out a pixie is all  about. You are an inspiration :)

  • Inge replied 1 year ago

Very late to the party, sigh. Your hair has grown a lot the last two months, Angie, and it's looking amazing! (I too love your natural colour on you). I also love your dress and the dainty white sandals. I honestly don't know how you managed to look so fresh and cool in that heat!!

  • Angie replied 1 year ago

Inge, thank you! Lots of caffeinated iced drinks help ;)

  • Jonesy replied 1 year ago

I am so late here, but had to chime in that your natural color is simply lovely and your cut is looking fab! So sorry about the heat, but your sack dress and sandals (!) look very chic, polished, and perfect for the unpleasant conditions.

  • Angie replied 1 year ago

Jonesy! Lovely to see you chime in. Thanks for being so gracious :)

  • Inge replied 1 year ago

For sure, Angie!! Thanks again for sending me the iced drinks tip!! (have been making one every day:-)
