OOTD: VERY Respectfully Neutral

This is what I'm wearing at home today. NOW, with nowhere to go but walk Sam four times a day from our loft in downtown Seattle. No grocery runs for a while either. We are staying home very, very seriously to help the Seattle healthcare system, who has been in the thick of it for a while.

Today is "Doctor's Day", and Sam and I BOW DOWN to them and ALL healthcare workers for fearlessly and selflessly doing their jobs. Words cannot express my gratitude. I respectfully chose neutrals for my serious, less playful, appreciative, and pensive mood.

  • Wearing a double thick Heattech thermal tee under the classic polka dot shirt to stay warm. Very effective!
  • Trendy tan carrot pants - which I also have in olive. The idea was to return a pair. But I did not have the heart in these strained retail times. But I love both pairs so it's good :)
  • AT HOME ONLY chunky Seinfeld sneakers make my feet happy. Supported.
  • Trench coat for Spring showers, and white Furla

Changed into rubber wellies because it's wet and windy outside.....and we got caught in a blasted hail storm :(

But I am looking upward with my hand on my heart. Always calm, positive, hopeful, and grateful. And will bang my heart out on pots and pans outside on our balcony at 8pm tonight in appreciation for our healthcare workers. We have that tradition in Seattle, and it rocks! xo

The pants are such a great fit on you, Angie, and must be a fun change from jeans for around-the-house wear.  Classic palette for a quieter day, and I think that's really nice .Nice to see your Hobbs trench in action  too. Snow is in the forecast for us tomorrow - right on the heels of your hail . Such weird weather in weird times.

  • replied 4 years ago

Big yes to doctor's day- bang your pots and pans from us too!
Love your hair and am in awe that you wear light colors in the rain and hail!

  • Helena replied 4 years ago

Even in neutrals, you are bright and happy-looking! Just beautiful Angie.

And bless, bless, bless every single doctor working their butts off through this awful time.

  • Kathie replied 4 years ago

I love this- neutral, but with playful polka dots, and that fabulous white top-stitching on the trench. We’re making it a bit of a game to stretch grocery trips. Hoping to hit 9-10 days this time. Love the pot-banging tradition! Is that every evening?

  • Jenn replied 4 years ago

What a lovely citywide moment and show of support.

You look polished and joyful as always, even in your neutrals. You still snuck in some fun polka dots. (And Sam, of course, is the best accessory of all)

  • Angie replied 4 years ago

Lisa P, dead right about the appropriate classic palette, change from jeans, and this hectic weather. My word. Go away snow....

Suntiger, it shows amazing spirit. Seattle is sooooo obedient and supportive. Just heard on the news that Seattle is successfully flattening the curve to help the healthcare system here.

Helena, your words make my heart happy, Thank you.

  • Angie replied 4 years ago

Kathie, YES. We are playing the same grocery store game. 2 to 3 weeks!

Jenn, you noticed what I snuck in! Astute :) And thanks for the gracious words.

  • Sal replied 4 years ago

Looking great Angie.  I am pleased Seattle is flattening the curve.  I love that blouse - so pretty and perfect on you.

People here are being positive and obedient too.  It is heartwarming.  We are lucky it is a lovely "Indian Summer" so the days are warm and the nights are cool.

  • rachylou replied 4 years ago

Lots of energy in those neutrals! :)

  • Bijou replied 4 years ago

I looked at the pictures first and thought, I thought Angie’s pants were a different colour,... but you have two! A gorgeous outfit, I particularly love the white stitching on your Hobbs trench.

  • Karie replied 4 years ago

Another gorgeous outfit. That polka dot shirt! It’s divine.
I love that tradition of banging on the pots and pans! Our healthcare workers are wonderful.

  • CarolS replied 4 years ago

Stunning as always. Enjoy seeing someone rock the carrot pant (it won't be me!). And I love the tan and white combo. Good for all of you for flattening that curve. Keep up the good work. Add an extra bang on the pot for me when you salute your healthcare workers tonight. They are heroes.

  • taylor replied 4 years ago

I am loving your arm candy...the one with the fur ;). These neutrals are gorgeous  on you,  but  I’m glad you spiced it up with the polka dots and that beautiful trench  and your red specs. Thanks for showing  us how it’s done ! Fabulous!

  • Laura replied 4 years ago

Oh what a joyous tradition! Enjoy banging those pots to your heart's content!

Thank you for sharing your outfits each day. In recent weeks, looking forward to seeing your daily outfit thread has become as much of a ritual as reading the blog!

  • Bonnie replied 4 years ago

Love your quiet look, too. The carrot pants are terrific. Yes to physical distancing and honoring our health care workers!!

  • Angie replied 4 years ago

Sal, thanks for the shirt love. Love your obedient peeps and perfect weather! ENJOY.

    Rachy, good to know :)

Bijou, HAH. You did an understandable double take. Thanks for the kind words as always.

Karie, maybe we need polka dot masks!

CarolS and bonnie, you are so nice and lovely. It makes a meaningful  difference.

Taylor, my furry arm candy is the BEST and my favourite. I knew you’d like the neutrals ;)

Laura, my friend, you are such a wonderful positive force. Virtual HUGS!

  • jasmine replied 4 years ago

Gorgeous! And I just love that pose of Sam's (today in pic 5) where he looks to the side and makes a triangle with his legs; so cute.

  • Jaime replied 4 years ago

Love the combination of the tan and white. It works so beautifully with your hair and Sam :) ! You expressed beautifully the gratitude toward health care workers that we all have. Stay at home and bang on the pots (when appropriate) - kudos Seattle!

  • cindysmith replied 4 years ago

Love your stay at home style :-D

  • Kyle replied 4 years ago

Crisp, clean, and perfectly lovely. You do neutrals beautifully.

  • Ericecho7 replied 4 years ago

Your neutrals look give me a clean springtime feel !

  • Brooklyn replied 4 years ago

Looking good! I love the pots and pans idea too. We live too spaced apart for that to work here but they are talking about lighting up the Sydney Opera House each night to honour our health workers.

  • Joy replied 4 years ago

You look energized in these neutrals as well as the brights. You radiate energy and goodness.

  • Mirjana replied 4 years ago

Wow, Wow, this is sooo beautiful, I am speechless Angie. Those pants are perfect on you. I love blouse, fantastic combination with tan pants. You really look sensational like always.

  • replied 4 years ago

So fresh!  I love this look.  It's good of you to give a shout-out to a group of very important people who are getting us through this crisis.

Has Sam been sitting in the window to surprise children on bear hunts?  :0

  • Zaeobi replied 4 years ago

You may be in 'serious' neutrals but your polka dots & the lines on your trench coat add some lovely details. I've been missing your OOTD posts on the blog, so it's nice to see them here!

The pots & pans thing is sweet - to boost morale during the protests over here, people would start chanting slogans at a set time every evening, & everyone joins in from their bedroom windows. Some of the older folks complained about the noise so they bumped the time up to 7pm for them instead :)

  • Angie replied 4 years ago

    Thanks so much, ladies!

    Jasmine, that's observant :)

Zaeobi, you crack me up, and thanks for the cheeleading!

Xtabay, we live in a  loft apartment so Sam has been shouting at the seagulls A LOT  from the fifth floor ;)

Jaime and Brooklyn, I started the banging at 8pm last night, and soon there was a choir of loud noise to follow. Festive!

Joy, Mirjana, and Kyle, you're lovely as ever.

  • ChristelJ replied 4 years ago

To me, polka dots = happiness and optimism. Adore this outfit on you, and thanks for emitting so much optimism and energy from within, too. We are all absorbing it gratefully.

  • Runcarla replied 4 years ago

80’s style for the win!  (I had a pair of pants like those...in the 80’s, and would do them again, now!)  perfect bookend with your hair.

So many hero’s emerging, but health care providers are on the front lines.

I’m also stretching days between grocery shops.  Currently aiming for 10 days, but might be able to stretch it to 14.

  • Style Fan replied 4 years ago

Beautiful neutrals, Angie.  Uplifting energy coming from you and Sam.  The pants are perfect for you.

  • LeandraofBleuAvenue replied 4 years ago

Very nice!  I'm glad you're still rocking a fab look even while staying in!

  • mtnsofthemoon replied 4 years ago

Those pants are super cute on you.  I don't think just anyone can wear that particular style.  You rock!  Yeasssss to all the Health Care workers and ancillary staff!!!! ( I was a hospital social worker - NICU and PICU - earlier in my career so my heart aches for those who are risking themselves to care for others).   Your posts are uplifting and I soooo appreciate your style while at home, while I am a total slob - hahaha ;-)

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 4 years ago

Wow, you are both so adorable. What a great outfit, Angie. I love that coat, with the white topstitching. Looking sharp!

  • Angie replied 4 years ago

ChristelJ, lovely to see you chime in again, and go Team Polka Dots!

Carla, it’s like a game we play. How long can we go without going grocery shopping……? Yay Team '80s!

Style Fan, I can see you in these pant. Your colour and silhouette.

Leandra, it keeps my morale high.

mtnsofthemoon, bless your social working heart! I bet you look more fab than you think :)

Sharan, missed seeing you here! Thank you.

  • replied 4 years ago

I like the grocery store game too :) We go monthly, except for perishables. Which DH gets...as an excuse to get more of his 4 major food groups (chocolate, chips, cookies, energy drinks).

  • lyn67 replied 4 years ago

Gorgeous serious neutrals, but Sam and the dots make the outfit really cheerful and fresh!

  • Angie replied 4 years ago

Thanks, Lyn67! Sam is the best little model.

Suntiger, we support three of those food groups.

  • replied 4 years ago

Me too- no energy drinks for me, but I'm not the one slogging through a dissertation either!
