OOTD: Tired Blue & Desparate Dots (TYPOS FIXED!)

I was on the phone calling, talking and texting to the Netherlands and London pretty much from 5am to 11am this morning sorting things out for my Dad. It was quite hectic. By noon, I was ready to go back to bed! I'm tired.

So ....... this is what I chose to wear today to stay at home, walk Sam, work, organize, clean, and cook. Blue for my blue mood, and dots to desperately perk me up. It worked for a while :)

It's cool, grey and rainy in Seattle. I chose a range of toppers, and am layered up for outside. I wear my 12 year old white leather jacket under my Hobbs trench very comfortably. And the raincoat in the down pour. My specs misted up sooooo much in the pouring rain while wearing a mask, I had to take them off to see. I have a better mask and will use that tomorrow when it's clean.

You know my quarantine drill ......styled hair, make-up, at home sneakers..... blah, blah, bah..!

Not my usual upbeat and energetic self today. The pics don't lie! Bad hair day too. Oh well! Onward we go. Always.

Sam is on partial modeling strike and demanding extended playtime. I gave in to his strike.

Thanks for looking. We need comforting mac 'n cheese tonight :) xo

You're such a good daughter! It's so, so hard to be far apart from our loved ones right now. Hugs to you and here's hoping for a brighter day tomorrow.

  • slim cat replied 3 years ago

Sorry to hear about your stressful morning - it doesn't show though, you look fab and radiant as always!
I love your maximum impact of prints outfit in # 2-5 with Boden velvet blazer! it's so perfect with a little yellow bag ( neon? canary yellow? ).
Great combo of colors and details in every picture.
Sam is taking early PTO plus extra leisure time in the rainy day ;) .

  • Janet replied 3 years ago

Well, you look gorgeous and I would never have known how rough of a morning you’d had. I’m so sorry for all the stress. Hugging you from afar. I hope tomorrow is better!

  • anne replied 3 years ago

Poor dear Angie. Can you go back to bed for a little while? I do nearly every day I don't work, can't cope with early mornings/ not enough night sleep / exercise otherwise!

Lovely outfit and I couldn't tell from the pictures that you were so tired. Loving the blue.

  • karen13 replied 3 years ago

I'm so sorry about your dad's challenges. Your gorgeous outfit belies your stress. And hopefully helps reduce it. Those pants remain one of my all time favorites.

We feel so lucky that my 85 year old MIL is a 40 minute drive away and that we are able to help her stay safe right now. She is the main reason I change out of gear or pajamas as she always notices and compliments my outfits when we come to deliver groceries or make dinner. She always looks her best - you would be proud of her.

Glasses fogging! So annoying especially when you're not supposed to touch your face!

Cut a strip from the less wide side of a standard tissue, about an inch and a half wide, fold it and wear it on the inside top of your mask. It should absorb the vapor from your breath that's fogging your glasses.

The style of mask you're wearing in this photo works especially well for this because you can set the tissue strip in a fold of the mask to secure it. From here it looks like your mask is paper, which should be more absorbent than my fabric ones but this might be worth trying.

  • MsMaven replied 3 years ago

Blue mood? I’d call that an electric blue high energy outfit. You are sizzling, even for a walk in the rain. Well, maybe less than sizzle when all covered with the raincoat, but still inspirational.

  • CarolS replied 3 years ago

I'm so very sorry today was such a rough one, Angie. I know that elder  care stress so well (although not with such distance involved), and my heart just breaks for all who are experiencing it -- especially in these times when we can't physically be with them. Sending very best thoughts for you and your dad.

  • Debbie replied 3 years ago

Angie I am so sorry to hear about your hectic morning.you are still looking fabulous. Get some rest and extra cuddles from Sam!

  • kellygirl replied 3 years ago

Oh, I'm sorry that you're having such a rough time. You certainly look spectacular though and are a visual treat for those around you (and us!) Hope tomorrow is a better day. Sending a virtual hug!

  • Karie replied 3 years ago

Hugs to you, and I’m sorry things are so stressful for you right now.
Your outfit looks great though, and so does your hair. That polka dot top is beautiful!

  • Sal replied 3 years ago

Sorry to hear about your tough day and blue mood.  Definitely Mac n Cheese is a good remedy.

I love the polka dots and your outerwear is a treat:)

  • replied 3 years ago

Oh Angie :( What a day - and there’s nothing wrong with going back to bed after all that time on the phone in order to regroup . Another super-great look and I forgot how much I love that blazer . And I still maintain your hair looks fantastic this way .

  • rachylou replied 3 years ago

Outstanding outfit. Your expression does seem a bit subdued. Have a rest! These things take a lot out of a person.

  • Joy replied 3 years ago

Sorry you are having such a difficult day. Is your Papa feeling better?
You look amazing and made me smile. Sam looks like he is trying to cheer you with his toys and antics. I hope tomorrow is better and the sun shines.

  • Jaime replied 3 years ago

Oh Angie I am so sorry for your tough morning. How frustrating trying to manage things from afar! I get freaked out now and then realizing that we could not travel if we wanted to right now. It is humbling.
You look wonderful though and I love your tousled hair :) ! I see Sam is trying to cheer you up - he certainly cheered me up!

  • Bijou replied 3 years ago

Angie, your looking and feeling blue outfit is what the rest of us aspire to on our best days. You look amazing and thank you for photographing the different toppers you used during the day, all so lovely and really change up the outfit.

So sorry to hear that you have had such a terrible time. I can only imagine how frustrated you must feel to not be with your Papa. Love Sam sitting on the top of your sofa, looking concerned. Doggie support is the best.

  • Suz replied 3 years ago

Whoo hoo, what a gorgeous outfit for the rain!!

I am so sorry to hear you had such a long morning, Angie, and I hope you are able to sleep this evening. It is SOOO hard to manage things from a distance.

You look amazing though -- love love love that blouse on you with the jeans and the Hobbs trench.

It poured here today, too. I wore a mask while at the garden centre. Managed to get a not-great selfie. Also in blue old things.

  • taylor replied 3 years ago

Ugh,  the additional stress must be absolutely exhausting :(

You look beautiful and stress free.  The hair looks fab,  your skin is glowing and you are adorable in your mask and rainwear !

Hoping tomorrow brings sunshine and good news from Netherlands and London.

  • Lucy replied 3 years ago

Angie, sending big (non contact) hugs from Australia. You are doing an amazing job helping your dad, and I hope everything goes well in the coming week and more.
If it's a small consolation, you look beautiful, I love the spots in particular.

  • The Cat replied 3 years ago

You somehow manage to look fantastic regardless of how you feel.
My favourite pics are 1, 5, 17, and 19. I really like those fun, gorgeous jeans. And your stylings are always interesting.
Sending warm thoughts to you and your dear ones.

  • lyn67 replied 3 years ago

Still looking fab! I love a stitching detail  and am so glad you posted these for their  layering ideeas. Hope you'll feel better and newly energised  after your nap- you are such a good daughter and nr 14 is priceless!:-)

  • Liesbeth replied 3 years ago

That does sound exhausting. Glad the dots perked you up for a while - your post title certainly brought me a smile!

  • Helena replied 3 years ago

You look amazing! I'm so sorry for the stress you are going through ... It must be exhausting. Nothing wrong with making space for a down day or week ... Be extra kind and gentle with yourself. Love little Sam! Sending extra love and light to your Dad!

  • nemosmom replied 3 years ago

Oh, Angie, what a rough start to your day... Rotten cloudy spring weather to dampen spirits certainly doesn't help. Sending you big big hugs and hopes for a better, brighter day today!

  • Gail replied 3 years ago

Sorry you had a bad day yesterday . Dealing with elderly parents issues from afar is certainly stressful at the best of times.
You look fab as usual and one would never know you didn't feel as such.
I hope the mac and cheese did the trick and you have a better day today.

  • Style Fan replied 3 years ago

Angie, I am so sorry about all the difficulties with your dear father.  So frustrating.  You look as radiant as ever.  The picture in #18 caught my eye.  Is that Jimi Hendrix?  One of my favourite artists.  Mr. SF saw him live.  And yes he was that good.  (That tells you how old we are.)

  • Inge replied 3 years ago

You always look fantastic, Angie, even when you are tired! And everything looks soooo good together here (especially loving the trench over those fab jeans!!-)

Sending tons of hugs your way, my sweet friend, I know it's extremely hard right now with your Papa xxx

Very smart, Sam, demanding extra playtime!-)

  • ChristelJ replied 3 years ago

Such a very, very tough situation. You are doing everything you can, and I'm so sorry it's so stressful. Somehow, you look just amazing regardless.

Thank you for sharing the realities of your world with us. You inspire and support all of us every day, and I hope that you can also be supported by us in return. I agree with others that is time to be gentle with yourself and do whatever feels most restorative and comforting. Mac and cheese sounds perfect!

  • Sara L. replied 3 years ago

You look great!  I love the polka dot blouse.  I hope your dad is doing ok.  Being away from elderly parents can be really hard right now.  I have a good friend whose mother has Alzheimer's and lives in a nursing home that is in a complete lockdown - they haven't seen her in weeks.  Then one of his aunt's was in a home that turned into a Covid-19 hot spot.  She's okay but it's been very stressful.

  • Mary Beth (formerly LBD) replied 3 years ago

You might be feeling tired and desperate, but your outfit is lively and full of energy!

I cannot imagine what you’re going through, with your dad so far away. I’m sending all my good vibes and best wishes to you and your dad ❤️❤️❤️

  • Eliza replied 3 years ago

Angie- my heart is with you as you navigate tending your father from afar. Sounds complex and worrisome. My friends who also are caregivers for their elders, even locally, report feeling helpless due to visiting restrictions and the concerns for what it means to access care currently.

Your dedication to daily routine and self care is inspirational. I love the cropped denim and that blazer is a hefty dose of needed spring. You wear these looks so well. Hoping today is a better one and that you got some rest.

  • Preppy Pear replied 3 years ago

So sorry it was such a stressful morning. I can’t imagine caring for a parent on another continent right now. I hope you get some rest and enjoy that comfort dinner tonight.

Outfit just as beautiful and inspiring as always. FWIW, I really like your hair a teensy bit wilder like this - it’s still quite polished looking to my eye.

  • Marilyn replied 3 years ago

You look GREAT, Angie.  Love those jeans.....such a statement. :)

Sweet Sam.  My pup lays beside my husband from 7 AM to 3 PM while he works from home.  He rarely leaves his side except to go to the back yard or for a walk with me.  Those two are VERY co-dependent. LOL

Sorry about your dad.  I completely understand how draining and stressful it is.  It wears you down.  Life is stressful enough right now without extra concerns.  We continue to be stressed about my MIL.  She's currently in hospital and they are so busy we're getting little information.

  • Roxanna replied 3 years ago

Thanks for sharing these every day Angie - I know it's not easy. I appreciate you sharing even when your mood is low - in fact I appreciate this the most because I can so relate some days :) It is -2 in Toronto and despite my usually upbeat and grateful personality, I am just sick of the cold and a bit miserable. Maybe I should wear a bright colour to perk me up too...

  • Becky replied 3 years ago

Oh, Angie, I'm so sorry you had a difficult day. (((Hugs))) You look terrific. I hope your style helped you cope with the challenges your day brought.

  • CocoLion replied 3 years ago

If this is you on a bad day, I want to be you. You look amazing in those jeans and the beautiful floral Boden jacket.

  • replied 3 years ago

Sorry you had such a hard day, hope today is better! But you look great anyway! I think I like it most with the white jacket!

  • MsMary replied 3 years ago

I LOVE THIS SO MUCH!! It makes my maximal heart sing!

Hugs to you, Angie! Hope you are feeling better soon!

  • JAileen replied 3 years ago

I’m sorry you’re having such a hard time helping your father from so far away.  I’m sure you’re tired, but you don’t look desperate!  It’s actually a cute outfit.  And Sam of course takes the cake.

  • replied 3 years ago

You have revealed the true superpower that lies in great outfits with Mac-n-cheese on the side.  That combo will carry you through all adversity!  Sending you much admiration and a virtual big hug.

  • Bonnie replied 3 years ago

Those pants are so great and I love the flower blazer with the navy dot knit. Your trench is fab, too. I think this is one of my favorites of your outfits. So versatile!

  • Angie replied 3 years ago

(Fixed my typos. Sorry about that).

Thank you ALL sooo much for the awfully kind words, compliments, and good wishes. I appreciate them very much! Thanks for being awfully nice. It helps relieve stress for sure.

    *virtual hugs*

Karen13, I AM proud of your well dressed MIL.

Phoebe, thank you! Unfortunately, I tried this tip a month ago, and it didn’t help.

Joy, Bijou and Jaime, Sam always cheers me up! Dogs are therapeutic.

Suz, HIGH FIVE on wearing old blue things. You look super cute as always. Good to see you again :)

Taylor, stress makes you more tired, doesn’t it? I feel more energetic today, thankfully. Adrenalin!

Style Fan, YES. That’s a painting of Jimi Hendrix I had commissioned for Greg. We LOVE Jimi too. You are blessed to have seen him. We live in Seattle though. Next best thing :)

Inge and Laura, much love back. xo

Marilyn, I have been thinking about your MIL. Soooo hard and stressful. Sending healing thoughts, much love, and strength.

Sal, ChristelJ, Preppy Pear, Xtabay and Gail, I made great cauliflower mac ’n cheese! Here are the pics:

  • smittie replied 3 years ago

Oh I can see why you like white so much. It really perks you up! Very much enjoying the blue and white outfit.
Hopefully you’re less tired now and there is some good walking weather for you to enjoy today. Take care.

  • smittie replied 3 years ago

Oh le creuset! My dream, but in red!

  • Style Fan replied 3 years ago

    Another Jimi fan.  :)

  • Cardiff girl replied 3 years ago

You might not be feeling snazzy but you are looking it!Times are tough ,you are bound to have days like this when the distance between you and loved ones feels at its greatest but continue to be kind to yourself, have a nap in the day if you need one.Tomorrow is another day and things may well look different by then.

  • Angie replied 3 years ago

Smittie, go Team Blue & White! And Team Le Creuset :)

    Style Fan, wooohoooo!

Cardiff girl, things were better today. Thank you.

  • Cee replied 3 years ago

Continued good wishes for your dad and hopefully the travelling restrictions get lifted ASAP :D

...and that tucker looks like hell on a plate !

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 3 years ago

I know I'm late to this post. I don't always see them in order. You look so great in that outfit, who could tell it was a blue day? I love the polka dots and the buttons on the jeans, and the white jacket and white topstitching on the coat--it's all so coordinated and attractive together. Sam looks pensive! And cauliflower mac and cheese is just the ticket! Hugs to you, Angie. I know it's hard to be so far away. Your challenge is about 6 time zones different than what I face.

  • Brooklyn replied 3 years ago

Ditto FC. I’d like to look as good as you on a bad day. I’m sorry that you are having a rough time. I hope the mac and cheese helped. Sending you virtual hugs!

  • Angie replied 3 years ago

Thanks for the sweet wishes and compliments, ladies. Virtual hugs back :)

  • Column replied 3 years ago

Hugs and prayers, Angie. I cannot imagine managing an elderly parent`s care not only remotely, but also overseas. It is hard enough locally and in person. Sincerely wishing you, your dad, and your family the best possible outcome.

  • Angie replied 3 years ago

Thanks for the sweet words, Column.
