OOTD: Easy T-Shirt Dress

COVID-19 quarantine life in Seattle is 3 and quarter months in, and just the same at the Cox Castle - although we could all have a haircut a few weeks ago!

Working from home, and really - nowhere to go, other than walk Sam and the occasional errand run on foot. No clients, no shopping, no traveling, and no gatherings at all. No eating out, but we have ventured into take-aways! The same anxieties and stresses remain, but we soldier through them day to day. We are strong, upbeat, grateful and safe.

Moving into Modified Phase 1 means that there are more people out, and more cars on the road. But very little is open. Lots of restaurants and most retailers are still very boarded up around here because of the protests. The graffiti is quite stunning. Some restaurants and cafes are opening their outside patios with 30% capacity on Friday to Sunday. Very few offering indoor dining at 25% capacity.

Apparently things will open very slowly next week, when we might move into Phase 2. Nordies flagship will re-open on June 23rd, but will be a very, very soft opening.

This is the first time I'm wearing the RL very casual T-shirt dress that I bought in January. It's navy and tomato. I had to wait for Summer weather, which has finally arrived :) Gorgeously sunny and 23C. Up to 26C soon. WOOHOOO! I'm going to wear my pretty dresses every day.

Modern Classics work well on me, which is why I am drawn to them. Nothing to explain here really, other than that Greg loves the dress, I felt Euro wearing this look, it's very comfortable/practical, and I no longer wear lipstick. Forgot to take a pic of my mask, which I wear whenever I go out the front door.

Hair is naturally tousled, and doing its own thing. Very much enjoying my low maintenance hair - sign of the times. I am growing it into a short '70s shag of sorts. I like to have hair projects!

Thanks for looking. Off to walk Sam, and think about which cake I'm going to bake next :)

You look happy in red, Angie! The whole combination is casual chic at it’s best.  Liking the current hair look, and intrigued by the hair project.  I have an appointment in 4 weeks (July 15th!).

  • Tina replied 3 years ago

Yay! OOTD is back! You’re looking fabulous! The new do is just perfect on you. Your doggie accessory cannot be beat.

  • Angie replied 3 years ago

RunCarla, I AM happy in red. Happy colour for me. Thanks for the kind words.

Tina, lovely to see you chime in, and you are as gracious as ever! Sam steals the show.... I know :)

  • Zaeobi replied 3 years ago

That dress is lovely - I like how it has side gussets added for ease of movement (those are gussets, right? Hard to tell from the photos, but it looks like diagonal panel inserts?)

  • Bonnie replied 3 years ago

What a perfect summer dress! It looks great with the blue jacket and sneakers. Sam is such an adorable guy and I love the way he looks at you.

  • MsMaven replied 3 years ago

Ooh! We’re semi-twins. I’m wearing my Boden red/navy striped tee today and thinking I wish I had more items with this stripe. Great dress—I wish I had realized this sooner. Great dress for you!

  • taylor replied 3 years ago

I’m loving your hair,  and your hair goal!

The colors of your dress are just really gorgeous on you,  and I am forever devoted to a blazer , and the ways they change the entire feel of an outfit .  YLF!
Sam is eating up this time at home with you both ....there will be no going back to less than “everything “ Sam,  it shan’t be tolerated  ❤️

  • rachylou replied 3 years ago

That T-shirt dress is well cut. I’m really liking this haircut; it has a je ne sais quoi.

  • Jaime replied 3 years ago

I am beginning to see the 70s shag! Maybe I am projecting? Anyway, you look super energized and extremely pretty in these colors. Much admiration for Seattle's approach - Israel opened suddenly and now cases are going up again. Anyway, very fun to see your OOTD again! Which cake did you choose?

  • Suz replied 3 years ago

This dress is just sensational on you!! WOW! With your specs and the pale blue sneakers! Lovely and so so practical.

RL dresses really are the best. They fit so well!

I'm intrigued by the 70s shag. I wore one back then and loved it. A bit like Jane Fonda in Klute. Except I was a little kid then!

  • Sal replied 3 years ago

I love the hair Angie - stunning on you!!

And the dress is super fun and cheerful and pretty all at once.  Your adaptable spirit is shining through.  That bag is wonderful too.

In terms of cake - my favourites are

    - lemon cake (ricotta or yoghurt in the mix)
    - almond and orange cake
    - carrot cake with cream cheese icing
    - old fashioned coffee cake

  • slim cat replied 3 years ago

Adorable outfit! Love the softness of the hair - very becoming!

  • replied 3 years ago

Wow - just perfect on you ! A great classic yet it looks absolutely new and modern at the same time . I love your hair too - very pretty :) Looking forward to seeing how it grows out . And I can only imagine how tiresome it must be getting to still be at home and not working . We have to watch what we wish for , don’t we ??

  • unfrumped replied 3 years ago

Super cute! A “ t shirt dress “ with more of an A- line skirt — that’s what I need.

  • Brooklyn replied 3 years ago

Smashing. I love the side panels, I think they really elevate the dress beyond the usual t-shirt dress.
And good to hear that you are staying positive. Sam is adorable.

  • delurked replied 3 years ago

Love this on you. That is all.

  • Mirjana replied 3 years ago

Covid-19 situation is similar here, but we're more relaxed. I think it isn't good as we have 70-90 new cases every day. Your dress is beautiful and you look sensational as usual. I adore your color combo and always inspired me.

  • Bijou replied 3 years ago

Angie, your post is a ray of sunshine and so are you. No wonder Greg likes this dress on you, it is sensational. I love how it is a combination of your red and blues, and is so pretty with your red specs.

  • The Cat replied 3 years ago

Chic outfit! T-shirt dresses are great summerwear--they are comfortable, can be dressed up and down and often look young and playful.

And I love it when the eyewear is matching something else in the outfit.

As for myself, I purchased two T-shirt dresses last year and enjoy wearing them this year, too. The first one, navy with white stripes, is sleeveless. (I like wearing it with breezy white toppers.) The second one, pink with a medium-sized floral pattern in white, light turquoise and a little soft green and soft brown, is shortsleeved. And I have reading glasses and sunglasses in many colours, including navy, pink, bright turquoise and white. My white ankle strap sandals with block heels go with both dresses. So do my white Birks.

  • lyn67 replied 3 years ago

Angie, love the new hair-soft and feminine- wondering woouldn't you grow it even longer, say to shoulder length-would be really nice to see you with that, once, too!:-) Love the simple striped midi on you, Sam is adorable, as always!

  • Karie replied 3 years ago

Your hair is looking fantastic (I have my cut/color tomorrow, it’s been 14 weeks!) and that dress is definitely a happy color for you - you look positively radiant!

  • replied 3 years ago

Looks great and aww to Sam :) I like the pop with the blue bag!

  • Janet replied 3 years ago

Great dress on you! You look happy and your hair looks great too. Please give Sam an extra hug from me. ❤️

  • RobinF replied 3 years ago

Great dress! It's a tee-shirt dress your way!

We are just starting to open up restaurants here but many businesses have been opening for a while. It is a mixed blessing to have so many hours at home! Kind of nice but kind of stir crazy. I started back in my office this week though, also with mixed feelings.

  • Inge replied 3 years ago

Swoon!!!! This is soooo good, Angie!! I loooove the stripes, of course! And the colours are beautiful on you. Dress looks so elegantly classic, yet modern and super fun at the same time!
    (I think Sam agrees :-)

  • Star replied 3 years ago

Red and Blue Stripes - my absolute favorite.  What a dress and you wear it so well.  I like your hair :)

  • RD replied 3 years ago

Red, stripes and comfortable, perfect combination ! Hair, dress and accessories, everything looks polished, pretty and effortless put together. Beautiful on you !

  • Laura replied 3 years ago

Great dress - sporty and easy for walking Sam - perfect hem and sleeve length with an ideal neckline for you. It's like Mr. Ralph Lauren created this one just for you.

Your signature pearls elevate everything you wear.

Very curious to hear how Nordstrom soft opening goes. Love to you all at Cox Castle!

  • Laurie replied 3 years ago

Goodness, you look amazing Angie. So good to see you. Love how the glasses just make this outfit even more perfect. This softer, natural hairstyle suits you so well.
Have a great weekend in beautiful Seattle.

  • JAileen replied 3 years ago

This dress suits you to a T.  I think Sam approves, too!

  • Roxanna replied 3 years ago

Looks amazing on you Angie! I especially love it with the baby blue sneaks :) You wear stripes so well!

  • catherine replied 3 years ago

I love when you post your outfits. That dress looks amazing on you.

  • replied 3 years ago

This is a fun classic look. I agree with everyone, the colors are among your best! Looks great on you.
Also, we share a bag strap!

  • Joyce B replied 3 years ago

That is really pretty on you.

  • Helena replied 3 years ago

Fab and oh so comfy-looking. Perfect sleeve length, too :)

  • nuancedream replied 3 years ago

Angie, I purchased the RL same dress based on your recommendation. So now we're dress twins!  The dress is so comfortable and stretchy that I sized down to an xs and it fits very well.  I think I'll wear the dress since today is haircut day after 19 weeks between salon visits.  Needless to say, I'm over the moon delighted!  My hair is very full like my avatar pic but not that neat.

  • Angie replied 3 years ago

Wow! Thank you ALL for the awfully kind words. Sam and I are blushing and appreciative :)

Zaeobi and Brooklyn, the striped panels add a nice bit of interest and add the fun swoosh-factor.

MsMaven, fun to be stripe twins.

Inge, YOU NEED A STRIPED DRESS, my sweet friend! Lets get you one…...

Taylor, thanks for the professional hair evaluation. Glad you approve, and aren’t you dead right about Sam :)

Jaime, we are '70s shag hair styling together. Sooooo fun! I think a yoghurt pound cake……

Suz, LOVED Klute and Jane Fonda’s ‘70s style.

Sal, I love all those cakes! Cream cheese icing is the best.

Lisa P, I really miss working with my clients :(

The Cat, knowing that your readers match your outfits made me smile.

Lyn67, I prefer my hair short, but thanks for the compliment.

Janet, Sam got lots of hugs from you through me. Much love. xo

    RD, you are so nice.

Laura, can we please bless RL dresses? Love back to you and yours too, my friend. xo

Roxanna, thanks for liking stripes on me :)

    Jenna, high five!

Andrea, fun to be your dress twin! I love that. I bet you look stunning in the dress. Enjoy your haircut!

  • nemosmom replied 3 years ago

You have the best grow-out I have ever seen! I love the way sweet Sam looks at you - he is a doll!  You look comfortable yet classy - and absolutely beautiful!

  • Joy replied 3 years ago

You look ladylike and elegant in a tee shirt dress! How do you do it? I see that the dress is no longer available. I hesitated because of the boat neck. Why do boat necks scrunch up on me in front if I want to wear a jacket or even a cardi. What am I doing wrong?

  • Angie replied 3 years ago

Nemosmom, you are sooo nice! Thank you.

Sweet Ruth, I know what you mean about the boat necks and scrunching. They really need to be a good fit on the shoulders. Neat and tight, and not too wide.

  • qfbrenda replied 3 years ago

Looks great! I love the elbow-length sleeves.

  • April replied 3 years ago

So, with apologies for paying little attention to your delightful outfit, I must ask how Mr. Sam Sam is looking so dapper?

Our little Bodie is a complete and total ragamuffin at the moment.  He HATES being groomed so we just swipe at him with scissors or clippers when he'll allow it.  Yes, he is a hot mess right now.

  • Angie replied 3 years ago

Great to see you chime in, Brenda

April, Sam was groomed a few weeks back. We bath him twice a week, and he's brushed once a day :)
