OOTD: Sporty Luxe Sherlock

Autumn is here.

It's raining and cooler in Seattle. YAY!!! NO MORE WILD FIRES AND UNHEALTHY AIR.

I am feeling non-neutrals, colour-mixing, and pattern-mixing more than ever. Soothing, comforting, puts me in a better mood, and gives me energy.

I LOVE remixing my old stuff with the new.  It's similar to my obsession with "zero food waste" at home and being creative with leftovers. I don't like wasting my older wardrobe items. So I constantly remix them with the new.

As I add new items, I first work out how things will match and complement one another before I commit to the purchase. That way I can mix and match till my heart's content, and almost everything works with everything. It's sport to me and a highly enjoyable puzzle process.

My wardrobe is very colourful, but the colours are thought out and controlled. It might not look like it, but there is a lot of colour discipline in my wardrobe and style. I am very deliberate about keeping certain colours in, and keeping others out.

I add brights, blues and white to my earth tones so that they don't look too earthy ;)

My urban style is about: TOPPERS, SNEAKERS/HI-TOPS and CROSSBODY BAGS, so I milk it.

  • New $9 guitar strap that works with old burgundy and orange Furlas, and old sneakers/hi-tops. New complement!
  • Old designer striped zipper track top worn with trendy sailor jeans. The glitzy gold zipper makes me smile. And I like mixing stripes and checks!
  • New Sherlock Holmes checked raincoat with fun orange trim that I got on deep discount from sustainable and ethical Boden. Impeccable quality. A classic with a kick. All the dark bits are navy, not black. Worn it all week!

My style is not athletic, but my love for sneakers and stripes gives it a sporty touch. I like to mix sporty with luxe.

WFH, and doing the usual errands around town with Sam in tow. Seattle life still very restricted. Masked up as soon as we leave the front door.

Thanks for looking  :) xo

What a fun sporty look Angie - the coat is a great addition that will be so useful in the Seattle climate. And it works so well with your palette.

Sam is looking shy but cheeky.

Thank goodness for the rain and clear skies.

  • Runcarla replied 3 years ago

Boden is really coming through for you, Angie!  Yay! To having fun with fashion!

  • Vildy replied 3 years ago

Love that the coat plaid is so crisp!  Makes all the difference.  A laughing at the drizzle kind of coat.

  • JAileen replied 3 years ago

I love your coat!  And of course, I love your matchy shoes and bags.  Sam needs amatching coat, I think.

I wish it felt like fall here - still quite warm, but at there’s no smoke.

  • Angie replied 3 years ago

Sal, a little Sporty '70s just for you! Can I be a Charlie's Angel? Little bashful Sam :)

    Carla, YES :)

Janet, Sam has one! Sending cool weather your way....

Vildy, the rain coat is fab in the drizzle. But when it's pouring, I haul out the big guns with soggy doggie.

  • kellygirl replied 3 years ago

That strap adds some "groovy" to your fab modern, polished aesthetic. Love it. Just seeing you in these gorgeous colors makes me smile! You and Sam are always a breath of fresh air!

  • Angie replied 3 years ago

Kelly, your comments make me smile. You are so sweet.

  • nemosmom replied 3 years ago

You look positively radiant, Angie! I love how you mix your old and new, and of course Sam is the BEST accessory!

Hooray for jacket and sneaker weather!

  • Aquamarine replied 3 years ago

You look fantastic and cheerful. How FUN that your view coordinates with your shoes and bags!

  • anchie replied 3 years ago

Fun pattern mixing, this coat is a great find, it fits so well with your color scheme. And I enjoy analyzing your complements, but I am in shock about guitar strap hardware LOL :)

  • Angie replied 3 years ago

Nemosmom, Sam makes me glow.....the Seattle rain at this point too!

Aquamarine, fun when things match so effortlessly.....and even with the view from my wardrobe :)

  • Angie replied 3 years ago

anchie, HAHAH! I was a little shocked too. But it's a warm dark brass, so it blends.

  • Helena replied 3 years ago

You are just freaking adorable! Love this happy, sporty, confident look - YLF!

  • Janet replied 3 years ago

I love how seamlessly your wardrobe coordinates. The new coat is terrific and you look marvelous! Hi Sam!

  • cindysmith replied 3 years ago

You look ready to solve even the most heinous fashion crimes ;-)

  • Angie replied 3 years ago

    Helena, you're so nice :)

Janet, thank you! My wardrobe co-ordinates well because I am deliberate to make that happen. It happens effortlessly ..... after a lot of effort ;)

Cindy, with Sam as Watson....it's elementary......

Really great look, Angie . I love the retro Stella jacket - don’t think I’ve ever seen this piece on you before !

  • Bonnie replied 3 years ago

I love your new coat and your bright colored accessories look so good with it and your outfit. It looks like Seattle is getting fall color in the first two photos.

  • Angie replied 3 years ago

    Thank you.

    Lisa P
, I showed it last year with hi-tops! It's a really great piece. Sporty, but glitzy. And Stella McCartney is an extremely sustainable and ethical designer. Vegan and well behaved too. I adore her integrity.

Bonnie, my hi-tops sister! HIGH FIVE. I can see you in this look. Yes, fall colours are well on their way here. Pretty :)

  • Joy replied 3 years ago

What fun! Now that it is a little bit cooler and I have put fall colors front and center in the closet and need to wear them for about 10 more weeks, I have been playing with mixing fall colors with spring colors for a change and hope to repeat in the spring as transitional seasons can be long here.
Pink and brown, and aqua and rust or olive are favorites so far. I need to try pink and orange. I am also trying to style and wear summer orphans, but it is often too cool.

  • Sal replied 3 years ago

Thanks Angie - you can definitely be my Charlies Angels Squad....  a cross between Kate and Cheryl I think......

  • Suz replied 3 years ago

    SO. MUCH. FUN!!!!

This brings a much-needed smile to my face. LOVE the new guitar strap with your sneakers and the gorgeous new coat. Love the blues as a base for all this vibrant colour. You look spectacularly beautiful, Angie

I'm tempted by the coat (and last night I could get in my size) but the orange is too orange for me, I think. If it were red, I'd go for it! One of these days I will find the right toppers/ footwear -- that's my mission for the fall, too.

  • Jaime replied 3 years ago

Sherlock chic! What is not to love? You do non-sporty sporty like no other! Very happy to hear about the rain too.

  • rachylou replied 3 years ago

It’s just all so pretty and high energy! Makes me feel love. I especially like the ‘referee’ top.

  • AliceWonders replied 3 years ago

This outfit is so much fun! It reminds me that dressing/fashion can be a joyful experience!

  • slim cat replied 3 years ago

Adorable outfits! I love print mixing and enjoy seeing your creative and highly color-controlled outfits - fab! Slight preference for ECCO in bright cheerful color versus white sneakers since it's just too perfectly matched !
That guitar strap has all the right colors for your fun fall wardrobe ;)  .

  • unfrumped replied 3 years ago

I’m amazed that you found that great plaid color combination. Just perfect. Gives a hint of autumn but still cheery and can swing spring or fall.

  • Jane replied 3 years ago

Utterly gorgeous and I love the Stella top too. Joyful colour!

  • lyn67 replied 3 years ago

Love the new things for You, Angie, the bright accents should be very cheery in gloomy Seatle! Dutch orange is  symbolic of course, but love the other deep brights and  matchy bag&shoes combo, too! Another love is the new trench- as is not a simple neutral - the colors in the plaid are all yours again, I'm impressed-YLF, as always!!:-)

  • Star replied 3 years ago

Such a fab outfit, I love the jeans, and Sam!

  • Christina F. replied 3 years ago

Your wardrobe is so cohesive. I'm envious. (I have no cause to complain about mine, truly.) Glad to see our fave Boden is still a winner even in the pandemic. I am not surprised, though :)

  • RobinF replied 3 years ago

Cool and rainy on its way to us next week - time to swap out my closet.

Love the matchy shoes and bags, such fun colors. And that coat is gorgeous - love the checks!

  • Jenn replied 3 years ago

This outfit is so joyful, Angie! I love the shoe/Furla complements, and adore the Sherlock coat.

Back in the upper-90s here next week.  Cooler weather and the end of fire season is still a pipe dream in SoCal. As I told Suz, in different circumstances, we'd be planning our annual autumn mini-trip to Seattle right now!

  • Liesbeth replied 3 years ago

Oh wow. Great outfits. And fun to hear your approach to mixing and matching. I'm so amazed at your ability to match bright colors in items bought seasons or years apart.

  • Joyce B replied 3 years ago

All fab but OMG what fabulous burgundy high tops and purse!

  • Angie replied 3 years ago

Thanks so much, ladies! I'm smiling at your kind words.

Christina, for me, Boden hit the right note in the pandemic emotionally. Better than any other retailer.

Oh, Jenn. It's storming here. I wish I could send it to CA :(

Suz, it's a very roomy rain mac. Can layer LOTS underneath. Yes - the orange is too warm for your tastes. Blast :( - and thanks for the gracious comment. How can I help you with your outerwear and footwear?

Slimcat, I preferred the orange sneakers too!

Rachy, now I feel all powerful in my referee top.

    Jaime, :)

Sal, this Angel is right behind you...

  • replied 3 years ago

Inspiring and fun!  You are leading the way into fall, Angie, and I'm loving it.  So glad to hear the smoke is out of your life, and you're getting out and about.

  • Angie replied 3 years ago

Xtabay, thank you! The rain has never more welcome. I've forgotten where you live - CA?

  • Inge replied 3 years ago

  • Brooklyn replied 3 years ago

Fabulous Angie. I’m so with you on the remixing and pattern mixing. I love the creative process and getting extra mileage out of my wardrobe.

The zip up collar on that top is wonderful. Frames your face beautifully. But it’s all fab.

And I’d love some burgundy leather sneakers in a Chelsea or high top style. I’ve been looking for AGES. If you see any that ship internationally, please post :)

  • Angie replied 3 years ago

Thanks, Brooklyn. HIGH FIVE to remixing and pattern mixing! And yes, I will look out for those burgundy hi-tops :)

  • taylor replied 3 years ago

I totally love this outfit, Angie. The track jacket is a great find--athletic your way, with pinstripes! And I don't know how I missed those burgundy high-tops before--wow! Little Sam always steals my heart. What a little love he is!

Late to the game here, but what a fabulous mix! I was so bummed to see that bag strap on Amazon.ca for over $40! (I do NOT need it  -- heck, I don't even have a bag I could put it on -- but oh, boy, do I want it!!!)

  • Angie replied 3 years ago

So nice to see you chime in Cheryl and CarolS! Thanks for the kind words and chuckles.
