OOTD: Skirted Colour for Dad

This is what I'm wearing today. Dressed up for staying at home and walking Sam! Our glorious Spring weather continues. I'm a lucky fish.

It's the usual: chatting and updating family and friends abroad all morning because of time zone differences, working, cooking, cleaning, organizing, pondering, and watching the news during the day......

I feel calm, positive, strong and centered today. Less distracted. I managed to do my PT excercises early this morning too.

The daily drill for my AT HOME LOOK: shower, hair that is harder and harder to style but effectively trimmed by Greg!, some make-up, an outfit that panders to my feelings when I get dressed, at home only sneakers, and some important accessories.

I would have been with my Dad in April, but of course, had to cancel my trip. He loves it when I wear skirts and dresses, so in honour of him I chose to wear an outfit he would have liked. Skirt + Colour :)

Sam is much more into  CEO Playtime than CEO Modelling.

This is my second favourite skirt. Cotton Spring cocoon coat came out for the first time this year. All items a few or many seasons old. I'm blessing my wardrobe for making me happy amidst ALL of this.

Yes, I wear a mask outside. Forgot to photograph that....again....

Thanks for looking! Off to make a quick prawn curry, sanitize, and walk Sam.

Stay strong, at home, safe and healthy! xo

Fabulous colours; fabulous pattern mix. That yellow coat is glorious! What a lovely outfit and a great way to pay tribute to your dad when he is so on your mind.

  • slim cat replied 3 years ago

Fab outfit - bright and striking! Love that skirt with asymmetrical sides.
Your hair looks wonderfully styled - effortless cool :) !
    Sam is the sweetest - # 13, 17 and  20.

  • Diana replied 3 years ago

So pretty! I love that skirt so much.

    Sam is so handsome!

  • Runcarla replied 3 years ago

Ha! I wore yellow, white, and blue today as well! It snowed off and on!  :-(  It was a big kitchen cleaning day - moved the range, and fridge and did a ‘hands and knees’ floor wash.

Your outfit is fab!  Sunshine and swoosh for the win!

  • rachylou replied 3 years ago

This outfit is gonna be an all time fave for me: pattern mixing and a ruffle hem and sneakers. Exactly what *I* love to wear (!) :)

  • replied 3 years ago

Very pretty :) Reminds me of daffodils . Yellow and blue are so wonderful in you - and I hope you sent your dad a photo !

  • Bijou replied 3 years ago

So beautiful, yellow is the happiest colour! You have 3 skirts that are my equal favourites - this one, your Karen Millen pleated skirt and a gorgeous lace skirt. So glad that you are wearing them now to lift your spirits. I am sure seeing you in this outfit cheered your Papa up. Just knowing that you are loved really helps when ill.

  • anne replied 3 years ago

Lisa that's exactly what I thought, hope you send him a picture.

Lovely skirt and a cheerful colour Angie!

  • Sal replied 3 years ago

What a lovely happy outfit and I am pleased you are having a better day.

  • Jaime replied 3 years ago

That top looks like it was made for you. The cut and colors are just so sunny and positive and flattering! A perfect example of appreciating something on someone else that I would never look at twice in a store because it would not work on me at all!
I am sure your Dad is being influenced positively by the good vibes (and actual calls). I hope he is doing well.

  • Suz replied 3 years ago

Such a fun and unexpected pattern mix! I really like it. The skirt is sensational. And what weather! Sam must be happy with it, too! More to sniff!

If your dad gets to see these outfits, he must be smiling, too -- I know he is also a fan of brights.

  • Jenn replied 3 years ago

That outfit is stunning. Pic 9 with the coat blew me away. You must be such a ray of sunshine on the streets of Seattle with Sam.

And your hair looks great! Mine is so long, I braided it in pigtails today.

  • Cee replied 3 years ago

You should buy a microphone just so you can be photoed dropping it :D

...and YAY ! More SAM !!

  • kkards replied 3 years ago

Oh the coat and matching bag are fab enough, but add the sweater and wow!

  • Brooklyn replied 3 years ago

Super citron fabness. I love how Sam’s toys match your style. Or maybe it’s your clothes that match his style. He’s the CEO after all :)

  • Kathie replied 3 years ago

Wonderful to see old favorites- I’ve loved this skirt on you ever since the NAS when you found it. It’s so hard not to be able to see loved ones right now- and at a time when they could use a visit even more.

  • Karie replied 3 years ago

I’m sure it must be difficult to not be able to be with your dad right now. How wonderful to dress in a beautiful outfit you know he would love.
    And Sam! Always adorable.

  • Inge replied 3 years ago

Love the happy pattern mixing here, Angie! And I've no doubt your darling Papa would absolutely adore it too!

  • bella replied 3 years ago

Angie - I am sorry to hear that your hair is giving you a hard time, but honestly it looks amazing!

  • Laura replied 3 years ago

Hair looks good, Angie! You're managing. I'm thrilled that your weather is being cooperative. That really helps to lift spirits! Thinking of your dear dad and sending love.

  • Becky replied 3 years ago

Oh, that is a fun skirt! I had a knee-length trumpet-hem skirt years ago that I loved. I love your tribute to your Papa's love of skirts and dresses, and pandering to your own love of bright, cheerful spring color. And Sam! He's the best accessory ever.

  • lyn67 replied 3 years ago

Yes your   dear Papa will love this next time you'll visit! Is the skirt navy or black, anyway love it! And you created a kind of twinset from the sweater and coat, very very stylish!

  • Bonnie replied 3 years ago

The skirt and sweater combo looks fab. Your dad can't help but smile when he sees your photo.

  • Jules replied 3 years ago

I'm a big fan of that top already and great way to show its versatility with the pattern mix. The sneakers are so cute with the skirt, and I don't think the pairing would have occurred to me because of the feminine/flouncy details of the skirt - a limit of my imagination, clearly, as it works very well!

I have a blue and white midi wrap dress but it leans frumpy with my white sneakers. I think the combination veers a little too close to fundie/mennonite dress code, is too plain overall and just doesn't look intentional. So now you've got me thinking how I might accessorize to bring it into fashion territory... bright colour, chunky pearls?

  • replied 3 years ago

Love the yellow and the swishy skirt! Hope you were dancing all round the house with it :)

  • anchie replied 3 years ago

Waving to my sweater twin. Unfortunately I don’t have any skirts at the moment so can’t copy this outfit.

  • karen13 replied 3 years ago

    Lovely! TFS

  • taylor replied 3 years ago

I love this skirt outfit...for Papa!  I hope he is on the mend!
Shades  of Yellow, Orange, White and Blue, with the Occasional splash of Raspberry , incorporated into each outfit .  Expertly executed!

  • MsMaven replied 3 years ago

##4, 6, 17, 20: Sam makes the perfect accessory for your outfit. His colors help sooth and smooth the effect of the bright colors and patterns. Lucky dog to be so useful.

I do love that swishy skirt. Yearning for a similar one that fits my body.

  • hereforthecake replied 3 years ago

That coat is just perfect lemony goodness!

  • Angie replied 3 years ago

Thank you all soooo much for the awfully kind words! They make me smile, and I very much appreciate that. Sam too :)

I've had a hectic morning - on the phone to the Netherlands and London for 3.5 hours sorting things out for my Dad - so I'm rushing to finish other things that were left unattended. Back later.

    *virtual hugs*

  • Gaylene replied 3 years ago

What a great way to channel your love for your dad!  It must be so hard to have to be distanced from him right now, but you know he knows how much you wish you could be beside him. Keep your chin up and wear your love in your outfits.

  • Angie replied 3 years ago

Thanks, sweet Gaylene. My chin is UP!

  • Cee replied 3 years ago

Not good if you're sparing, Ange' !

  • Angie replied 3 years ago

Cee, I'm going with good! It's been a hectic day :)

  • Cee replied 3 years ago

Keep your head down and your gloves up !!

  • Cee replied 3 years ago

...and carry a tyre iron !!

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 3 years ago

Wow--wonderful dad-inspired outfit, Angie! I love the bright color on you, and I can see why the skirt is a favorite. Fun and flattering. Good to hear Sam the CEO has a mind of his own--you need a CEO with a clear vision and priorities.

  • The Cat replied 3 years ago

Cheerful colours. Pretty, spring-ish outfit. Hope your father gets to see it. Warm thoughts to both of you.

  • The Cat replied 3 years ago

Just an additional thought: I am sure your green glasses would also look great with this outfit. :-)

  • Jane replied 3 years ago

It is a lovely outfit and reminds me of daffodils. I love the OOTD posts! Thank you Angie!

  • Mac replied 3 years ago

Wow.  Talk about brand consistency: your cheery outfit even goes beautifully with the vase in the back ground of one of these photos! Glad your bright clothes help brighten your spirits.  xo

  • Angie replied 3 years ago
