OOTD: Scrubbing Dress

We are heading into week 6 of isolation in the State of Washington. Surreal time is flying.....

A glorious warm and sunny Spring day here! It lifts my mood.

This is what I'm wearing today. For at home, and walking Sam. I also walked to the pharmacy to get meds for the dermatitis on the left corner of my mouth. (I had an online virtual dermatologist app this morning which worked well). The dermatitis is nasty and getting worse. Looks like eczema, but isn't. It takes a month to go away. I had the exact same thing last year at this time. It is stress or allergy related. Nobody knows! Oh, well. It will pass and I'm fine :)

The daily drill for my AT HOME LOOK: shower, hair that is harder and harder to style and annoying me, some make-up, an outfit that panders to my feelings when I get dressed, at home only sneakers, and some important accessories.

Soooooo, you might remember that although I clean our loft daily, Friday I SCRUB the loft. So I selected a scrub-the-house outfit this morning:

  • Old floral mesh dress that I adore. It has worn like iron, and looks new. It's very robust. Perfect for cleaning.
  • Old denim jacket - 10 years old! - and a fave. Looks new, I tell you. Excellent quality. Great for outside in the mild weather.
  • Apron and gloves for cleaning.
  • YES. I clean in pearls. It's practical......

I mopped my anxiety away! WOW. Sooo effective!

My spirts are high! Washington's and California's COVID-19's curves are flattening due to very strict measures early. But we have also been at it longer than the East Coast because it started in Seattle. The East Coast will get there too. I'm sure of it. Everyone has to hang in there just a little longer.

I'm feeling strong, calm, energetic, positive, patient and centered. Staying at home all Easter weekend, of course. (That's how we can best help Seattle manage its healthcare system).

It's amazing how living like this has become our new normal. And our next normal will be new too.

Thanks for looking. I'm off to bake, cook, and walk Sam again! Have a lovely weekend. xo

Angie, your scrubbing outfit is very elegant!  Wearing an apron over the dress adds the perfect practical touch.  I am motivated for my scrub day (tomorrow).

  • anne replied 4 years ago

Those mesh dresses really are indestructible aren't they. Lovely outfit as usual. Great to hear good news re Seattle and California

  • Angie replied 4 years ago

    Staysfit, I'm flattered!

Anne, YES. Mesh for the indestructible win :)

  • taylor replied 4 years ago

You are toooooo adorable.  All dressed up , no where to go!  Ah, the story of my life :)
Love  the apron over the dress to clean .  You are my “ dressy while scrubbing “ soul mate .  I just need the apron!

  • Cee replied 4 years ago

You wear it well, Ange'... Well, at least better than a ninja janitor :)

  • replied 4 years ago

That's too nice for scrubbing in- but looks comfy! I like your hair longer, brings out the wave- but if it annoys you you could braid it :)
6 weeks already for you? Just week 4 here, I think.

  • Angie replied 4 years ago

Taylor, HIGH FIVE. And thank you.

Cee! Nice to see you chime in.

Suntiger, this dress is VERY comfy! Like pajamas. And easy to wash. Remember - I don't use bleach. Thanks for liking my hair :) - (going into our 6th week. It started here first).

  • replied 4 years ago

Wasn't even thinking of bleach- we don't use it either!

  • Diana replied 4 years ago

Such a pretty dress! I am so jealous of everyone who lives where it’s warm enough for bare legs...

  • rachylou replied 4 years ago

That must be one tough dress if you can scrub in it! That’s totally my kind of chore dress.

My hair is getting very bad. It’s so long and scraggly at the ends. I had to CUT out a tangle today. Ohmigosh. I guess I should hack the ends. Or braid it and put it up when I sleep.

    " Chime ? " ...I prefer the xylophone, Ange' !

Very festive "scrubbing outfit" - looks great with apron and yellow gloves too :) !
Very cute photo #14 - 15 with adorable CEO of the company.
Your hair looks great but I understand the frustration of trying to recreate the original shape and look ( I'm afraid to imagine how my hair will look in another 3-4 weeks ).

Great little dress ! And here is a link to an Instagram account you might find interesting and helpful . A mutual friend put me onto her today - she’s a very cool stylist based in SF but does virtual trimming and styling sessions . @jayne_edosalon. I know you’re very loyal to your stylist and I know what you ‘ll say ( I am too ) but her service is quite ingenious . Plus now I want to completely change my hair because of her ;)

Most adorable cleaning lady ever! Does Sam try to help?

  • Bijou replied 4 years ago

Pictures 11 and 12 are priceless. You definitely are gorgeous even when scrubbing. I have ruined clothing wearing it whilst cleaning and gardening, so for basic tidying, wipe downs and vacuuming, I stay in my normal clothes, but as soon as I am working with bleach and products for the bathroom, I am in old jeans and a t shirt.

Sam’s adoration is just so beautiful to see, dogs are so good at knowing when to provide the comfort that their human companions need.

  • Jane replied 4 years ago

It is a super dress Angie and that jacket is great too. I love the arms! Happy scrubbing.

  • Janet replied 4 years ago

I’m glad to see we both still have and love that jacket!

I confess, I can’t relate at all to wearing a dress to scrub the house in, but I also lack your superpower of wearing white without making a mess of it. I bow to your polished perfection! I’ve always thought that’s such a cute dress — I would love to find something similar, but the devil is always in the details and dresses are hard for me.

Truly, you are styling in the quarantine like no one I know. I’m glad it helps you cope!

  • Helena replied 4 years ago

Gorgeous as always Angie, but I'm distracted by the Clorox ... I think I have Clorox envy?!?!? I am stuck having to use store-brand disinfectant *sobs* ;)  :D

  • Joyce B replied 4 years ago

Angie, you are the most stylish even when you scrub, and have the best attitude. Tell us what you cook and bake sometime, for even more inspiration.

  • CocoLion replied 4 years ago

Sam is a stern task master to have you cleaning daily... but obedient we must be if the CEO demands it.

I see advanced pattern mixing with the floral dress and striped apron. Plus the yellow gloves add that necessary pop of color.

  • cindysmith replied 4 years ago

You're KILLING me with how much fun you're having with your shelter-in-place outfits <3

  • Jenn replied 4 years ago

I'm getting June Cleaver vibes from your pretty cleaning dress and pearls. Glad you're not vacuuming in heels, though...they're terrible for the floors.  ;)

I don't know why I've never thought of wearing an apron to clean house before, but I'm starting NOW.

  • Angie replied 4 years ago

Thanks for the kind words and entertainment, ladies. Very fun :)

Suntiger, I’m thanking my super power!

Diana, sending over some warmer weather, and you'd look fab in this dress!

Rachy, mesh is indestructible. How about a DIY haircut?

Cee, excuse me. xylophones for you from now on…..

Slim Cat, thanks for being so gracious about Sam and my outfits :)

Lisa P, I looked at the instagram account! It was fun, and she has all the right tools! Although the looks are too bohemian for my own sartorial preferences, I enjoy her take on the ‘60s and ‘70s style aesthetic.

Joy, Sam supervises from afar ;)

Bijou, good idea to change into old clothes when working with bleach. And doggies are incomparable support.

Jane, the see-through sleeves on the dress are pretty, aren't they.

Janet, THANK YOU for understanding that my done-up quarantine style is a way for me to cope. It creates routine, a form of control, keeps me productive, and relieves anxiety. This would be a great dress on you!

Helena, that’s an OLD Clorox bottle. My last one from Jan or Feb. Clorox is nowhere to be found around here either.

Joyce B, I’m touched! You can follow what I cook daily on youlookfab.com on Instagram if you like.

Denise, you are soooo right. CEO Sam whips me into shape.

Cindy, forever having fun with fashion!

Jenn, I never wear heels - as you know. And YES. Big aprons are the best! I have a few.

  • Bonnie replied 4 years ago

You look adorable in that beautiful dress. I ruined the sleeve of my teal hoodie using that cleaning product you're holding. You must be a careful cleaner.

  • ClaraB replied 4 years ago

Angie, your outfit is—as always—gorgeous, but I’m struck with your perioral dermatitis comment. Sometimes this can be associated with toothpaste with sodium laurel sulfate in it: if yours has it, maybe try a swap out? Take care.

  • Lucy replied 4 years ago

Even though I’m seeing the pictures, I still can’t believe you deep cleaned your house looking so elegant. (:
    Lovely!

  • Angie replied 4 years ago

bonnie, thank you, and I am a careful cleaner. And I only use Clorox in some of the house, which limits the risk of ruining clothes.

Clara B, you are dead right! How did you know that? After the first bout of dermatitis last year, I changed my toothpaste to Pepsodent. It helped for a year.

    Lucy, you are sweet.

  • Jaime replied 4 years ago

I hope the dermatitis is not from the masks. I am wondering what is going to happen when it gets very hot here. Apart from that, scrubbing the house in a dress, or anything but the most expendable and washable lounge wear is so beyond my abilities that I can't even imagine it. You are the prettiest scrubber around.

  • Suz replied 4 years ago

Adorable and hilarious! I love the shots with the yellow gloves and the apron! But also, you always look like a movie star in those white sunnies.

I can't believe you scrub the house in a dress, but then, if it washes easily, why not?

I hope the dermatitis clears up soon. I wouldn't be surprised if it were allergies made worse by stress. Something like that.

  • Angie replied 4 years ago

    Jaime, thank you :)

    Suz, it's an indestructible dress!

I hope my dermatitis goes away soon too.....

  • Cee replied 4 years ago

Dermatitis has a way of getting under your skin... Good luck, Ange'.

...and lay off the itchy knits for the time being !

  • Angie replied 4 years ago

    You are right, Cee

  • lyn67 replied 4 years ago

OMG, scrubbing in THAT dress?? At least I am now approved on scrubbing in my daily office-work-clothes-as I often  forget to change before start doing something like that- but  even with my bad habbit I would consider a mesh  too delicate. Otherwise you  are the most perfect "real housewife" I know!:-)

  • Angie replied 4 years ago

You always make me laugh, Lyn67 :)
