OOTD: Rainbow Glitzy Golden Oldies

It was a stressful morning because of stuff I'm trying to sort out with my brother for my Dad - and we are in three different countries! It is what it is.....

So the emotional mood dresser that I am chose a bright and patterned outfit today which - believe it or not - DOES calm me down and make me feel ready for business. I react positively to my happy colours.

Out came the high contrast Boden stripes, glitzy jeans, my favourite bright coat of all time, and Radley London bag (for outside only). I change to outside sneakers for Sam's walks.

All items are between three and six years old. Three cheers for wardrobe golden oldies!

The daily drill for my AT HOME LOOK: shower, styled hair and make-up, an outfit that panders to my feelings when I get dressed, at home only sneakers, and some important accessories. A rare pic of "no specs" because I type without my specs.

I feel strong and in control. We will get through this.

We only go out to walk Sam. Keeping grocery shopping to every two weeks. Absolutely isolating and helping Seattle out as best we can.

Thanks for looking. Off to cook noodles for supper, sanitize, and take Sam out :)

Fun cheering photos! I wish I were 1/20th as good at it as you are. Thanks for a happy time. Plus I love the tee and jeans. If those sneakers are blush pink, I have the same ones.

  • JAileen replied 3 years ago

You look gorgeous!!!  And Sam is aborable, of course.

  • deb replied 3 years ago

You look wonderful despite the stress. I love those jeans and enjoy seeing the stripe top again. I hope everything settles down with your dad. lots of love!!!

  • Kathie replied 3 years ago

I always love seeing that coat on you! Such a signature piece. Hope you and your brother can figure everything out for your dad. I know it’s stressful.

  • slim cat replied 3 years ago

Very bright and graphic outfit - my fav!
You look great with or without glasses ( I type and read with glasses ).

  • Kyle replied 3 years ago

Those jeans are the bomb. Can’t get enough of them!

  • Karie replied 3 years ago

Gorgeous as always. I love seeing Sam in your photos!

  • replied 3 years ago

Geez , I forgot about those jeans - they are absolutely amazing on you ! And how do you keep up with fresh produce , dairy etc when only shopping every 2-3 weeks ? I’m in the store too often but you’re clearly a master meal planner . I’m always running out for produce , dairy and non- dairy , breads , etc .

And back to the outfit- this has to be one of my all-time favs . Just love the whole look. I feel frumpy just looking at you - sigh.

To quote you, Angie: KILLER. You look energetic, confident, and ready to tackle anything. Thanks for sharing and inspiring. I hope you got things worked out for your dad. My parents are just 90 minutes away, but it might as well be the moon right now. Can only imagine how worrisome when you are truly so far away. xo

  • kellygirl replied 3 years ago

You look terrific and are so disciplined and positive! I need some of that. I’ve been going out twice a week for groceries—once for my dad and once for my household. (We live about 30 minutes apart.) DD#1 came home (early) from school yesterday and I already have to go grocery shopping. Clearly out of practice for shopping for 4!
Love your outfit posts, Angie! You are an absolute joy to behold!

  • Runcarla replied 3 years ago

I feel for you, Angie.  Juggling parents long distance is certainly a challenge when you can’t ‘peek in’ on the regular.

This is a favourite outfit.  Those jeans are the bomb!

Are you using frozen fruit and veggies?  I can stretch to 10 days, possibly more,  It will be running out of cream for our coffee (horror!), and fresh fruit, and veggies that has me going to the grocery store.

  • replied 3 years ago

I’m starting an off-topic on grocery shopping as now I think I’m missing a critical organizational tactic.

  • Bijou replied 3 years ago

Angie you look so beautiful in this. I have the same Boden sweater, but mine is a bit oversized on me and does not look like this on me. However, it is comfy and fun, so I love it anyway.

I feel for you with the worry of your Dad. Sending a virtual hug.

  • Joyce B replied 3 years ago

Fun outfit. I hope all goes well with the decisions that you need to make.
I am with LisaP on the grocery shopping. How do you keep it at every three weeks? Milk runs out plus I need fresh prep and fruit at least once a week. How do you do it?

  • catherine replied 3 years ago

You look lovely. I was wondering how not being able to travel would affect your helpful visits to your Dad. All the best to you as you sort things out.

  • rachylou replied 3 years ago

Jazzy! I’m really liking your hair :)

And Sam simply has the best expressions.

  • AJ replied 3 years ago

Rainbow glitzy indeed!!  Love your dancer poses too!

I'm with Lisa P...we need you to teach a master class on how you are stretching out your grocery shopping.  :)

My parents live in a different country as well.  Luckily they have lots of relatives in the same neighborhood.  I pray you find the right solutions for your wonderful dad.  (Hugs)

  • Jaime replied 3 years ago

Oh Angie! Like you my parents and MIL live in another country and MIL is right in the middle of a hotspot in NY. Parents are better off because they are (separately) near my sister, but Florida has the most disorganized approach I have heard about. Anyway.
You look like focused energy, which is I guess what you needed for the day. Love the jeans! They look similar to some I have somewhere that I will see if I can find one day :) .  Best of luck helping your father and keeping up with everything else. You ARE fab!

  • taylor replied 3 years ago

Such a stressful time for so many, for so many reasons :(

You look radiant and very stress free ,  so congratulations for not showing it.!

Your bag is beautiful,  I don’t think I’ve noticed it before! Love the entire ensemble. I totally get how your outfit calms you .
When I’m stressed I tend to dress business-y.  If I have to deal with something or someone in a stressful situation ,a more  tailored  , business looks makes me feel  calm/  powerful/ and in control.  It’s all very interesting how our daily wardrobes affect us !

Im hoping things find a way to shake out smoothly for your family as you all  navigate between countries!

  • Bonnie replied 3 years ago

Your daily outfit is a bright and cheerful treat. This one is especially fun. We do what we can to find silver linings. I wore my red puffer, black pants, and a black and white pattern scarf for my daily walk. This is the only time the neighbors see me each day as we are definitely physical distancing.

  • Jenn replied 3 years ago

You know, I'm going to have to think about what my "I've got this" outfit is. That's a great observation about your wardrobe, and a good trick to have in your pocket.

  • Zaeobi replied 3 years ago

The lines on your jeans would be a perfect complement to that seamed trench coat you were wearing last time :)  The shape & stripes of that jumper make me smile, too - I agree that the bright colours in my wardrobe are calling to me now more than ever!

  • Mainelady replied 3 years ago

I love these bright colors as much as they love you! So festive and fun! Positive, powerful and a little bit sassy!
I am wishing you well as you try to work through family needs and supports. This is not an easy time. Solutions may take some time, but solutions are out there.

  • Star replied 3 years ago

I love everything about this outfit.  Your morning routine is definitely paying off as you look happy and beautiful.

  • kkards replied 3 years ago

Such a fun outfit.   I’m of the opinion that having a sense of  control over a small something, anything, helps to keep the spirit up.  I’m not getting as dressed as you, but also using my clothes to help create a mood and sense of normalcy in these unnormal times

  • Style Fan replied 3 years ago

I am another one that loves this outfit.  It is definitely one of my favourites.  I also wonder about how you manage to only go to get produce every 2 to 3 weeks.  And bread!  Maybe you make your own.

  • ChristelJ replied 3 years ago

It is so hard to have loved ones far away during this time, especially when they are elderly. My parents are in a nursing home halfway across the country. I hope that all goes well with your dad.

We have control of only some things in this situation, but we do have the ability to see and create beauty. You do that so well. Your strong and vibrant outfit is a lovely expression of your strong and vibrant self.

  • anchie replied 3 years ago

Just to let you know even though I don’t comment much, I immensely enjoy your OOTD upbeat posts and beautiful vibrant outfits.

  • nemosmom replied 3 years ago

You look absolutely radiant (as always), Angie, and ready to tackle anything! I appreciate you posting OOTDs - they have really motivated me to get up and get my *ss in gear, when I honestly haven't felt like it lately...  You are such an inspiration.

I hope your dad's situation resolves soon. I know how stressful and helpless it feels to be far away from loved ones - especially these days.

    Sending hugs (and thanks)xx

  • replied 3 years ago

Love your happy coat- but surprised it's still cold enough to wear it! Sorry to hear about the stress with your dad, and wish you could go visit! Hugs...umm...namaste :)

  • Janet replied 3 years ago

Sending good vibes for the situation with your dear dad — that must be so challenging.

You are a ray of sunshine. Love those jeans!

  • notsaf replied 3 years ago

Love it, Angie! As always, such a comfort and an accomplishment to have a wardrobe that supports you in less than perfect times.

  • Laura replied 3 years ago

Darned distance! It makes things so much more difficult right now. Hugs to you.

By the way he’s looking at you, I’m guessing your newly appointed CEO seems to approve of rainbow glitz. Whew!

  • Angie replied 3 years ago

WOW. Thank you all soooo much! Sam and I are blushing.

Soooo many therapeutic, wise, and kind comments. I’m in awe. I appreciate the odd you're giggle you're creating too :)

Thank you for the good wishes and empathy for my Dad. I am staying positive. I know many of you have similar worries about old parents, and some are as far away as mine. Hang in there. One day and challenge at a time. We will get there.

Oh, Jaime, MIL is in NY. Very stressful. I hope she is being looked after by the community. Much love. xo

Taylor, HIGH FIVE. You get it!

Suntiger, unfortunately Seattle Springs are cold :(

  • celia replied 3 years ago

I understand your situation as my mother is also across the ocean by herself. We are all doing our best and will get trough this together.
Big hugs for your dad ,we are also thinking about him.

Outfit wise, it is a treat as always.Your positive attitude and your fabulous outfits(and your meals on instagram) are a bright spot on this world.

  • karen13 replied 3 years ago

So much gorgeousness. Your rainbow brightened my day. I continue to adore those jeans on you. They might be my favorites!

Hugs, strength and healthy thoughts to you and all of YLF, and our loved ones near and far. So hard right now.

  • mtnsofthemoon replied 3 years ago

Sending you positive vibes and prayers for your dear dad. I cant imagine how challenging and frustrating it must be to be so far away from loved ones. Waving to my sweater twin. Its one of my favorites. And those jeans are hands down my FAVORITE! So unique and you ROCK them so well! We will all get through this together....big hugs!!

  • Angie replied 3 years ago

Celia and Karen13, thanks for being so nice.

mtnsofthemoon, you are as gracious and sweet as ever. Waving and elbow bumping back :)

  • Tina replied 3 years ago

It looks like Sam is questioning your judgement:-)
You look beautiful. Those jeans are fabulous.

It’s so difficult trying to help our parents in these circumstances. Ours live close and it is hard, cannot grapple with trying to do it long distance. I hope you got your concerns resolved in a satisfactory way that gives you all a measure of peace.

  • Eliza replied 3 years ago

Sorry to hear about the stress you are under as you tend your father from afar. I’m sure your loving. creative, resourceful and smart self bring much to the table; it is hard to feel like anything is enough now.

Love your cheery outfit; you lift our spirits as well as your own. Always inspirational, Angie.

  • Angie replied 3 years ago

Tina and Eliza, you are both sooooo sweet and lovely. Thank you so much!

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 3 years ago

Perfect outfit for taking on the challenges, Angie. I love the stripes and the rows of buttons. Sending good wishes to you and your family.

  • Angie replied 3 years ago

Sharan, thanks for being you :)

  • cindysmith replied 3 years ago

That yellow coat just made my day, so bright and happy and optimistic <3

You look adorable, as always :-D

  • Jane replied 3 years ago

Love the stripes! And the Furla! Delish!

I am pleased you have a brother who can share this with you, Tough times indeed.

  • Angie replied 3 years ago

Thanks sweet Cindy, and sweet Jane :)

  • April replied 3 years ago

Sending good thoughts in the general direction of Papa Angie and all those who care about him.

I know you have a not-that-different situation on Greg's side, and I do wish you both the most peace and calm right now.

You and I are polar opposites in our reactions to color (me: AAAH!  you: BRING IT!) and sleepy, soft music (me: BRING IT!  you:  AAAH!) but we are in agreement on this particular issue.  (Maybe - your papa adores you and my parents don't really care for me.  But I worry nonetheless.)

  • Angie replied 3 years ago

April, HIGH FIVE to horses for courses, and mutual respect :)

  • Suz replied 3 years ago

Angie, I'm so sorry to be slow on this one. Somehow missed it! I do hope you've resolved the situation with your dad. How hard it is to be far away and to need to coordinate from a distance. You look adorable in these golden oldies!

  • Angie replied 3 years ago

Suz, you're not slow! You are as gracious and kind as ever. THANK YOU.
