OOTD: Classic - Trendy - Classic - Trendy

This is for Sal's challenge!

Nothing much has changed here in Seattle, and we are 5 months into new normals. COVID-19 restrictions have eased a little but really, not much.

I continue to dress my usual dressy casual way, wearing my pretty clothes with easy air-dry hair, sneakers, crossbody, and some make-up. I walk Sam several times a day in the city (we live in a loft in the city), run errands, cook, clean, organize, and work from home. I do my PT and yoga early in the morning in gear, and then get dressed for the day. I am always comfortable and can do what needs to be done in what I wear.

I seldom wear sleeveless dresses because it has to be at least 30C/86F for me to not feel cold - no a/c either, please. And I don't like the feeling of the hot sun belting down on my bare skin, so I need to find shade too. We've been having some great Summer weather so I'm wearing my new sleeveless dress for the second time. I had it altered a size down to fit perfectly. Party at the back! Need a jacket to walk Sam in the morning because it's always cooler by the water.

LOVE this dress - LOTS of fun swoosh! - that will not date unless we all wear Star Trek uniforms in deep space.....

Although midis are trendy, it's a classic dress worn with modern retro pearls and a classic Furla. It's trendy with my hair, specs, Apple watch, denim jacket and sneakers. My attitude about wearing this dress as regular casual wear is modern too. I get on with it, and do what needs to be done in a day. Polished but not precious is the way I lead my life!

And a glimpse of another Classic - Trendy - Classic - Trendy  look I wore to a very quiet picnic with my boys last week. Classic linen shirt tucked into trendy white wide crops. Also wore it with the same white Furla and light blue sneakers. Added polka dot tote for picnic stash.

I AM a Trendy Classic! Thanks for looking.

Fabulous dress on you - perfectly tailored and accessorized! Love “party in the back” look!
The picnic outfit is adorable- sunnies with a white frames are such a nice finishing touch! Sam is such a photogenic cutie pie !

  • Angie replied 3 years ago

Thanks, sweet Slim Cat, for your gracious words, as always. YES! The alterations worked beautifully.

Sam is a natural model :)

  • kkards replied 3 years ago

I love a good polka dot! The dress, and you, look lovely. And the  beach umbrella shirt, preppy at its best

  • Minaminu replied 3 years ago

Super outfits! You had me at the polka :) ! You look great!

  • slim cat replied 3 years ago

That fab dress reminds me of “Breakfast at Tiffany” black dress with pearl necklace - done in a modern way ( navy print instead of solid black, midi instead of floor length, single string pearls instead of heavy costume jewelry). Especially pic #9 - just asking to be framed ! Modern classic in a best way!

  • deb replied 3 years ago

So cute! Love the collar on this dress.

  • Angie replied 3 years ago

Thanks, kkards. Sharp of you to see those beach umbrellas :)

Minaminu, welcome to Team Polka Dots. We are a small but meaningful team.

Slim Cat, HAH! That's so nice. I love Audrey, so thank you.

deb, nice to see you chime in. Sam sends tail ways to your doggies.

  • kellygirl replied 3 years ago

Wow, you and Sam are both knock outs. I have to remind myself that I'm not really a Boden person because I want to channel you in everything because you look so. darn. good!

  • rachylou replied 3 years ago

Fantastic! The length of the dress is ideal in my mind.

Also cannot not mention how adorable Sam is and the interest in the burger ;)

  • Angie replied 3 years ago

Kelly, always so lovely and gracious. Thank you! Good job knowing that Boden stuff is not really for you. Minimizes returns, resources, and frustrations. Horses for courses, and DYOT!

Rachy, Sam had his treats....and some of our burgers..... :)

You're wearing sleeveless- happy dance :) And aww to Sam!

  • Vildy replied 3 years ago

Boy, that pic 11.  You could go viral as an advert for a glorious staycation.  Makes lockdown look a snap.

  • Laurie replied 3 years ago

I love love love that Boden dress, and the neckline/collar. I am always drawn to that style when I look through Boden items. You look lovely. It's so good to see you and Sammy.

  • Runcarla replied 3 years ago

I really like the use of different shades of blue when you layer with the jean jacket and add the sky blue sneakers.  The dress is, of course, fabulous on its own.

  • Helena replied 3 years ago

Such a pretty dress, and I love the crisp shirt and white wide crops too.

  • Karie replied 3 years ago

Gorgeous! I love both outfits, but that polka dot dress is beyond beautiful. And Sam looks very interested in your picnic sandwich!

  • Style Fan replied 3 years ago

Beautiful dress, Angie, and you have styled it so well.  I love the picnic outfit.

  • The Cat replied 3 years ago

Love that pretty, trendy dress with retro vibes. And love the fun matching of shirt & red glasses.

  • JAileen replied 3 years ago

    Such a pretty outfit!

  • Angie replied 3 years ago

Thanks so much, ladies. You are all so nice.

Suntiger, my ONLY sleeveless wardrobe item!

Vildy, you make me smile :)

Laurie, Janet, The Cat, Style Fan and Helena, thank you for the kind compliments!

Carla, blue IS my colour of the year. *happy dance*

Karie, I know this is your type of dress too. High five, frock sister!

  • Jenn replied 3 years ago

The dress outfit is great, but the picnic outfit is the stunner for me. You look like modern-old-Hollywood in it. Katherine Hepburn perfection!

  • Angie replied 3 years ago

Jenn, that's such a fun assessment and compliment. Thanks! And make sure you check out today's brand spotlight. You will like it :)

  • Mainelady replied 3 years ago

Dots, swoosh and sleeveless! Oh so fabulous with your pearls. Oh my, your picnic outfit is pure fun and Sam looks like he is always ready for a photo shoot!

  • Bonnie replied 3 years ago

It's nice seeing your daily outfits again and I'm so glad you're sharing your summer style. The blue polka dot dress fits perfectly and the picnic outfit is perfect for a casual outing. I'm jealous of your air dried hair, I need to iron mine daily. You have inspired me to wear my new things while being homebound during the pandemic.

  • Angie replied 3 years ago

Mainelady, I know you like a bit of glam too!

bonnie, you are so lovely. I sometimes flat iron my hair too. And do enjoy your new stash for at home :)

  • Sal replied 3 years ago

You look great Angie - both outfits epitomise your modern classic style and how to wear trendy items in a way that is very "you".

    Thanks for joining in!!

And pleased you have one sleeveless dress to enjoy summer in.  I love the polka dots and am looking for a polka dot dress or blouse for my summer!!

  • taylor replied 3 years ago

So pretty,  with a touch of retro glam!  Love it!

  • Joy replied 3 years ago

You look so pretty in the dress and parasol shirt, but Sam steals the show in #13 where he is eyeing your burger,

  • Jaime replied 3 years ago

You killed me with the white jeans to the picnic. There is no way I would not have come back with grass stains!
Stunning trendy classic looks, and I appreciate your explanation of how your classic dress is also trendy (midi) and styled in a modern way (casual, sneakers). The back view of the dress is gorgeous on you with your hair and the pearls.

  • Suz replied 3 years ago

    Whooo hoo!! SUMMER!!

You look stunning in that dress, Angie! I strongly considered ordering it myself but then decided it just would not get enough wear this summer (sob) and I have a similar dress from last year that I love...so....

I truly love both looks on you. You're always polished and fresh looking. And isn't this heat fantastic?!

  • Brooklyn replied 3 years ago

What a treat seeing you in a sleeveless dress. You look elegant (dress, pearls) + fun (sneakers). And your picnic outfit looks great too.
Sam looks very interested in your lunch. I hope you shared ...

  • anne replied 3 years ago

    Lovely classic trendy outfit, Angie.

  • Bijou replied 3 years ago

Two wonderful outfits. Picnics with dogs is always so much fun, Sam just gets cuter every day.

  • ChristelJ replied 3 years ago

You look fantastic in sleeveless. Go team polka dots! Love everything else about this dress too. The fit, length, color, neckline, styling. Both outfits great examples of trendy classic combos. Thanks for sharing!

  • Angie replied 3 years ago

Thanks so much, Taylor, Joy, Anne, ChristelJ and Bijou

Jaime, the picnic blanket - and my super power - prevented grass stains ;)

Suz, love our recent steamy Summer days! 33C yesterday, and I'm a happy camper. And that's one of my favourite dresses on you.

Brooklyn and Bijou, I am on Team Sleeveless Dress with you! And rest assured, we shared burgers with Sam :)

  • Angie replied 3 years ago

Sal, thanks for the kind words and fun challenge. Most of my outfits combine trends with the classics, so I could have overloaded the forum posting them. But will spare the forum that ;) - hope you find your polka dots!

  • Inge replied 3 years ago

    I can't believe I almost missed this!!
What a stunning dress, Angie, and re-tailored to perfection. I love the modern retro neckline and elegant vibe. Works so great with your pretty pearls too. Love your picnic outfit as well!

  • MsMaven replied 3 years ago

That dress is so great on you, Angie. Boden should pay you every time you wear it.

  • Debbie replied 3 years ago

You look stunning in that dress!

  • Angie replied 3 years ago

Nice to see you chime in Inge, MsMaven and Debbie! Thanks for the gracious comments as always.

  • Eliza replied 3 years ago

Love to see you making the most of summer, Angie. Polished, never precious. Great hair is part of trendy, classic you. Wonderful that you have gone for maintaining and enhancing your sense of style, even through Covid 19.

  • hbeaver replied 3 years ago

I have to live vicariously through you and the lovely Boden items. Unfortunately, everything arrives too long for me-sleeves are too long, dresses & pants too long, and even their t-shirts need to be shortened about 3" unless I want to wear them with leggings. I still manage to pour over the Boden catalog though!

  • anchie replied 3 years ago

I missed your OOTD and this is another treat. Both outfits are fabulous and you look so polished and energetic as always. Dress fits you perfectly, it was worth doing the alterations.

  • nemosmom replied 3 years ago

    You look absolutely radiant!

  • Angie replied 3 years ago

Eliza, you are so nice! I appreciate your ongoing positive comments.

hbeaver, have you tried Boden petites?

Anchie and Nemosmom, thank you! Soooo worth the alterations.

  • Cardiff girl replied 3 years ago

You continue to look so glam even in the face of a pandemic, much respect!

  • Angie replied 3 years ago

That's kind and gracious, Cardiff girl. Thank you!

  • lyn67 replied 3 years ago

Wow, that is a true  modern Audrey dress and look- love the bright chuncky white  sneaks and the pearls to it, and sure the back is doing a BIG difference to all the other Audrey dresses! Then, you just killed me with your crisp picnic outfit-you look so seriously stylish and Sam is so cute, of course! Thanx for posting these, always a feast to see your  fab outfit!!

  • Angie replied 3 years ago
