#OOTD and PSA: Velvet Pants on Sale (Pics ADDED)

I wore one of my widest pairs of trousers today (brown plaid). Combined them with orange, red, cream, and brown. Shoutout to the old orange jumper. My first COS purchase in 2016. Perfect condition all these years later!

All items are old apart from the NAS aviator and "new" red tote - both of which work with everything is my wardrobe :)

Wore this outfit to pick up a pair of on sale Santuary red velvet baby bootcuts at Nordstrom. Tried them on in the dressing room (pic #4). Quite the antithesis to the pants I was wearing. Much slimmer silhouette. I like them! My heart is with wider bottoms, although I change things up.

Had them hemmed immediately because they are VERY long. Took an hour in stores. Excellent service!

The Sanctuary velvet pants are on sale, and come in petites. 4 colours. TTS. My petite and tall clients rocked them equally! Crimson is the favourite colour. Plenty of length for tall people - hence I had to have them hemmed.

Sweet Sam sends kisses to you too. xo

ETA: TEAM WEAR! Wearing my new velvet pants today! Very casual chores and errands Sunday. These pants are not dressy. They feel super casual to me despite the velvet. I think their slim silhouette makes them feel more casual too.

Forgot the items in my outfit! Here they are:

  • Janet replied 1 week ago

Wow, such fun dramatic trousers! And I love that aviator jacket.

The new red pants are so great on you too! Sanctuary does good pants, in my experience.

Kisses back to Sam (and Jo too!).

  • Angie replied 1 week ago

Nice to see you chime in, Janet! YES! Sanctuary pants are always worth a look.

Thanks for the kind words and kisses :)

  • Irina replied 1 week ago

These plaid pants are divine! Fantastic outfit!

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 1 week ago

At first I read "wildest" for "widest." Haha! I bet you love the swoosh factor! They look almost like a skirt. What a cool look with that orange pullover and the big tote bag. And yes, I thought what a contrast, when I saw the next outfit. The new velvet trousers are gorgeous on you. Big hugs back to Sam!

  • Star (Lise) replied 1 week ago

Ooh I love the velvet pants. They look incredible. The plaids are interesting and perfect for you. Wow must feel like you are wearing a maxi skirt. Hello Sam.

  • Jenni NZ replied 1 week ago

I love the new pants! Great colour. The bootcut is not prominent, just enough to be interesting.

  • RobinF replied 1 week ago

Love the velvet pants! All the colors!

Your outfit is awesome! So dramatic and fun. That jacket! Wow. I have loved it with every outfit you have shown us.

  • LJP replied 1 week ago

I miss having a pair of velvet jeans- they were a staple in my wardrobe for years and years .  These are indeed a lot slimmer than your usual but still flattering (well , all pants are flattering on you, lol) and I bet you get a ton of wear out of them.  The plaid pants are crazy -cool. I cannot even conceive of wearing anything like that so it's fun to see them in action on someone else.  That's the beauty of fashion !

  • Carol replied 1 week ago

Your heart is with wide legs, mine is with straight legs. The red ones you got are fantastic, and I am wondering what the material looks like up  close? Is it very velvety?

I avoid most wide legs, but love these. They look so intentional, almost like the bottom half of a suit. I find that many wide legs just look like the model is swimming in them, and I am a fan of intentional cuts, like these.

Love wide leg pants - gorgeous outfit!  Very cute cords!
My slim boot cords are waiting for the real cold weather - they are emerald green and from Kut of the Kloth brand ( mid to low rise - still fits ;-) ).

  • Dee replied 1 week ago

Wow, another incredible combination. Those plaid pants are so cool. Look great with aviator jacket, but what doesn't really.
Velvet red pants look wonderful too and offer another fab option. Lots of fun versatility in your wardrobe mix.

  • Suz replied 1 week ago

I love those plaid pants SOOOO much! They are really fun with the red bag and the orange sweater. But the red velvet pants are another really fun option and it's great to have the variety!

  • aloha emily replied 1 week ago

Kisses to Sam!!! And I LOVE these looks- especially the orange with red color combo!

  • Angie replied 1 week ago

    Thank you, everyone!

ETA: TEAM WEAR! Wearing my new velvet pants today! Very casual chores and errands Sunday. These pants are not dressy. They feel super casual to me despite the velvet. I think their slim silhouette makes them feel more casual too.

  • Angie replied 1 week ago

Sharan, such generous words that make me smile!  My super wide pants DO look like a skirt ;) Sam sends hugs back.

Irina, thank you, and the plaid trousers are fun to wear!

Star and Jenni, I can bat for Team Slim Pants with you :)

RobinF, appreciate your kind compliments! The pants come in petite, so keep them on your radar.

  • Angie replied 1 week ago

LJP, velvet jeans come in handy! I vote pop them on your shopping list. Wonder if you could wear a black pair to work? Could be fun! Thanks for the kind words :)

  • Angie replied 1 week ago

Carol, thank you! Yes, super soft and velvety. Feels gorgeous on the body. Comfy! And I suspect that the pleats give the wide plaid pants some "intention" ;)

Slim Cat, your cords sound fab! Hope we see them on you soon - yummy green! My pants are velvet, although also casual. Cousin to your cords, and thanks for the sweet words.

  • Angie replied 1 week ago

Dee, you are so lovely, and I'm blushing! The new aviator is VERY versatile - and maybe you hauled out yours! :)

Suz, high fiving my wide pants style sister - with Dee too! I can see you in these wide pants if they were in your signature blues. Go Team Silhouette Variety :)

Emily, thank you! Sam sends kisses back.

  • Carol replied 1 week ago

Angie--the pleats, yes, that's it. I haven't seen pleating like that before. I'm a sucker for pants construction, which is funny, because I don't collect them or anything.

  • Angie replied 1 week ago

As an '80s gal, I love pleated pants, Carol! These are box pleated, which gives them their volume, with some structure.

  • Jaime replied 1 week ago

Love outfit #8 (the one you just wore)! Well they are all great but the bright color mix, slimmer pants and red crossbody strikes me as very of the moment and very Angie. Your hair is fabulous and the shot with Sam is truly precious.

  • Kate replied 1 week ago

Your new velvet pants are super! I'd love a piece of velvet this season, but most probably a top. Years ago I had silk velvet sweatshirt with a wide envelope neckline, and I practically wore it out. It dressed up casual outfits, and dressed down more dressy ones. A perfect piece.

  • LJP replied 1 week ago

I’m loving the “ casual “ outfit today too . Really great use of colour here . I’m set this year for winter clothes but maybe next year ! I’d love to do red :)

  • Lisa replied 1 week ago

Go team wear right away! The new red velvet pants are a lovely wardrobe addition. They pair so well with orange and blues. I also really like the ivory boots with them, they remind me of my ivory Pikolinos (in finds).

The wide leg trouser shopping outfit is so fun because of the twist of a mega wide leg with the classic brown check print. Such a great statement piece that pairs beautifully with the orange jumper. Yay for longevity, still going strong all these years later!

Give some extra pets to Sam and Jo for me!

  • Karie replied 1 week ago

I am in love with those red velvet pants! I might have to be a copycat.
And the wide leg trousers with the orange top is fabulous, too. I have two orange coats (one solid, one plaid) but nothing else in that color. I need to change that!

  • Angie replied 1 week ago

    Thanks, everyone!

Jaime, appreciate the keen observations, and lovely words! You are always generous with them :)

Kate, a velvet item is useful!

LJP, thanks for chiming back in, and for the kind compliments! Red pants sound awesome for you :)

  • Bonnie replied 1 week ago

Love seeing your winter outfits. My favorite look is the wide leg pants and bomber. The velveteen red boot cuts with the stadium coat is a close second, though. You have finished each outfit perfectly. I tend to wear darker boots because I'm afraid of white in winter weather, but your white one look terrific.

  • Angie replied 1 week ago

Lisa, much enjoy your musings and kind compliments! Always a pleasure :) Sam and Jo send kisses back, and our cream boots are cousins!

Karie, YES! Try the velvet pants. I suspect you'd love them, and go Team Orange!

Bonnie, that's high praise - thank you! I'm sure you'd wear white boots with panache. They are quite easy to clean.

  • Kyle replied 1 week ago

I really need to study these outfits in terms of color mixing and accessorizing, especially footwear. You make it seem so effortless. The new velvet pants are beautiful. The cut, the color and the fit are really perfect. I’m especially fond of your plaid pants, though. I love the pattern and the drama.Such a big statement and you pull it off beautifully.

  • Runcarla replied 1 week ago

Love the ‘fits.  Like Roberta, I’m studying and learning.  Had an epiphany (after all these years!) that black footwear isn’t all that wonderful for me and my colouring.  Or, at least, there are better  options that would elevate my style.

This came home for me, when I realized that you don’t wear black (or really dark) footwear at all!

  • Angie replied 1 week ago

Kyle, you are very generous and kind with your high praise! I'm blushing. Thank you very much! :)

Carla, you're right! I don't wear dark footwear. Last time was in 2016 - I had a pair of navy boots and dark burgundy boots. Tried to wear them again - but felt off. The darkest footwear I wear is cognac, whiskey, taupe, red and pink (see Finds). I tend to stick to whites and golds! Best with my palettes and need for high contrast in an outfit.

  • Jenni NZ replied 1 week ago

Oh, Angie, what about your beautiful navy tall boots? I’ve always loved the looks of those. Have they gone?

  • Angie replied 1 week ago

Jenni, they have! Too dark, and too high in the heels.

  • Jenni NZ replied 1 week ago

Oh :( Fair enough about the heels though. And of course if you no longer feel like wearing dark…
Was that them in Finds below, or just something similar? I have saved this Find for a long time.

  • lyn67 replied 1 week ago

It shows you really have fun with the wide legs Angie, never seen anybody wearing  Marlene styles IRL so well like you here! And what a departure  from it the new velvet ones-still very you and so playful! Loved to see your colorful shoe collection, it makes so much sense avoiding black/dark shoes for You/us blondes and I always  loved brights better paired with some other colors or other neutrals than black(especially whites and tans).

  • Angie replied 1 week ago

Aha, Jenni! No, they were the tall navy boots by Peter Kaiser below. STUNNING quality. Got them in London in 2015. That heel is just a smidge too high now (and navy footwear is no longer for me). I got new tall cream boots two years ago. (They were in storage for 14 months so feel new). The heel is a little lower, which  makes a BIG difference. So does the light colour ;)

Lyn67, awwww! Such sweet words! I'm touched. You hit the nail on the head too. Black and dark shoes don't work well with a very bright, light, gold and white wardrobe - especially when you are blonde. Although I wear a fair bit of navy and toffee - the cognac, cream, and gold shoes work well with those neutrals. Red and pink too!

  • Brooklyn replied 1 week ago

Fantastic outfits Angie. Love the big baggy pants so much!!!! I too have slim fit velvet pants. Styles colliding again! Mine are in dark brown, dark green and black. I wear mine as loungewear in winter. Makes me feel very decadent.

  • Angie replied 1 week ago

Brooklyn, thank you, and fun collision! Thought you'd appreciate the width of these trousers :) And  how luxurious to lounge in velvet!
