New Specs in Action!

Needed two pairs for tricky corrections:

1. Single Vision Distance - LIGHT BLUE

2. Occupational Progressives for my work stations - PINK

Both are from labels that make exact copies of 1960s eyewear. (Victory and Fabulous Fanny's). That's my thing, and so is wearing non-neutral statement eyewear.

Hubs Greg has chosen almost all my eyewear, and these are his choices this time round. I am THRILLED with them! Still getting use to the progressive lenses but love the frames....

Here they are worn this week - out, and at home with and without make -up in one of the pics ...... and with hair that is growing out to a new style! A side of Sam and Jo too :)

VERY wet and windy in Seattle. Thanks for looking, and have a lovely weekend. xo

Super gorgeous on you, both of them!  Greg always makes the best choices.  Jo and Sam are as adorable as ever, and appear to approve of the new specs.

  • Angie replied 2 years ago

    Thank you, Tanya

Yes! Greg does a better job with my eyewear than I do, so I LOVE that he chooses :)

Doggies are happy and very precious little things.

  • ophelia replied 2 years ago

They both look spec-tacular (ha!); I’m amazed at how the pink lights up your face!

  • approprio replied 2 years ago

The blue ones are lovely of course, but the pink! WOW! The Platonic ideal of Angie-specs.

Progressive lenses are great overall, but they take some getting used to. I'm still having trouble judging distance to the ground. Not ideal for trail walking then.

  • Katerina replied 2 years ago

Both pairs are ABSOLUTELY PERFECT on you, soo BEAUTIFUL. And I am thrilled with you! Your hair is always so lovely, even when you are growing it out to a new style, how do you do it? And Sam and Jo - super cute!

  • Inge replied 2 years ago

I have one word for you: divine!!! xxx
(and I can't believe how well your blue scarf matches your stunning new blue specs!!).
Sam and Jo under the blankie = priceless!!

  • Angie replied 2 years ago

Thanks, ophelia and Rio. YES! The pink perspex are a good match with my skin tone. The light blue has my heart, and I'm glad they are my out in public specs :)

Katerina, you are awfully kind as always. Thank you! The hair does not feel sassy and sharp at the moment, but that's okay. Work in progress!

  • Angie replied 2 years ago

Thanks, Inge! I have the bag to match too :)

  • rachylou replied 2 years ago

So good! I want clear frames like this next time around. The blue are very Angie :)

And Sam and Jo are so adorable too.

  • nemosmom replied 2 years ago

My gosh, what a fantastic set of new specs! These are beautiful on you!

  • Katerina replied 2 years ago

    Love the light blue set!

  • Angie replied 2 years ago

Rachy, see-through green or blue for you!

Katerina, complements tickle your toes ;)

Nemosmom, lovely to see you stop by. Hope you and your tribe are doing well.

  • Irina replied 2 years ago

Oh, you look fantastic! And your furry babies are so adorable!!!

  • Bonnie replied 2 years ago

I want Greg to pick out my next pair of glasses. I love both choices and am really surprised how good the blue pair work.

  • kkards replied 2 years ago

Wait…all I saw was 2 adorable doggies and Angie in a hoodie…and not just any hoodie but a sports team hoodie. Lol had to check the date to make sure it wasn’t April.

  • kkards replied 2 years ago

Seriously the glasses as great. I’m especially in love with the blue which are just so fun.

  • Angie replied 2 years ago

    Irina, thank you!

    bonnie, Greg would be honoured.

kkards, as a Seattleite, I support the Seahawks! And the hoodie is loungewear ;)

  • Suz replied 2 years ago

Fabulous, Angie! I love that they give you some variety -- the "at home" mid distance ones are more subdued and gentle (to go with loungewear, maybe?) and the blue ones really POP! You will have so much fun mixing and matching with all your various complements!

No wonder your doggies want to kiss you! You look delicious in these! Bravo to Greg, fashion stylist extraordinaire!

  • replied 2 years ago

Both pair are PERFECT and so unique . The blue is especially outstanding. My hair is driving me nuts and I’m at a loss - why do your grow-outs always look so easy ?? Lol! And …..those are the 2 cutest little dogs ever :)

  • The Cat replied 2 years ago

All three of you are adorable. Love your new specs.

  • Angie replied 2 years ago

Sam and Jo send tail wags and kisses :)

Suz, thank you! You're right about the suitability of the subdued pair for when I'm at my computer. Feels dead right. When I'm watching tele or have guests at home, I wear the single vision distance pair that pop. Yes to mixing and matching! I might put new lenses in my old red pair. too, AND I have to figure out what to do with my sunnies......new lenses in old frames or new frames.......

Lisa P, thank you! Your hair always looks great. Yet, I know how important your hair is for your style, so I empathize. Hair not right = style not right. How would you like it to be different? Would you like to grow it out a little together? Maybe start a separate thread and we can brainstorm. I have some ideas for you.

The Cat, thank you for the sweet words.

  • lozz_oz replied 2 years ago

    Both specs are spectacular!
Love seeing photos of your adorable dogs too.
(Hope Lisa P starts a thread on short hair.....always looking for pixie hair variety!)

  • slim cat replied 2 years ago

    Adorable pictures- pure love!
The blue specks are especially fabulous with all those perfect accessories in light blue!
Your hair always looks great ( hair envy from another pixie cut devotee - mine looks messed up fairly quickly ;) ).
Jo and Sam are pure joy!

  • CarolS replied 2 years ago

Fabulous glasses and the cutes pups! You remind me that I really have to get myself in gear to find my next pair...

  • Sal replied 2 years ago

What fab glasses - look perfect for you!  What good taste Greg has.

I am trying to decide about progressives myself.  Just pondering now:)

  • DonnaF replied 2 years ago

I think I need to borrow Greg. . . I find spec shopping so frustrating and staff not necessarily very helpful. But your cuties are so distracting! How do you get anything done?

  • CocoLion replied 2 years ago

They were made for you!  I love them in both colors.  Glad you are getting used to the progressives, I will be following your updates to see how you adjust as it is a type of prescription I'm considering.

How is it possible you look so good without makeup Angie!  I'm full of admiration.

  • JAileen replied 2 years ago

They both look so great on you!  I like your Seahawks sweatshirt, too.  But the doggies take the cake.  Every time!

  • MsMaven replied 2 years ago

Great choices! Thanks for sharing the puppies too.

Let me share my experiences with a variety of contacts and glasses.

For years I wore mono vision contacts, one lens for far and one for close, and bifocals and later multifocal glasses. It wasn't too difficult to get used to them and I could switch easily enough, although some times I had to take a second to remember which I was wearing. A few years ago it got harder, especially with the mono vision and going down stairs. This year the optometrist said it was too dangerous for an older person to switch and I made the change to multifocal in both. I did have a special pair of anti-glare glasses to wear at night that gave me bifocal vision in both eyes--worn over the contacts.

Right now I mainly wear the contacts when I need to wear a mask, which is when I go anywhere. Hate foggy glasses. If I remember I wear them for Zoom as well.

I understand how some can't switch back and forth.

  • Jaime replied 2 years ago

Well good to know that Greg can always have a backup career in spec styling :) . Amazing choices, and it is makes perfect sense that the pink are for working at the computer and blue are for out and about. Red for out and about too!
Sam and Jo are scene stealers as always!
Not only your hair manages to look fabulous growing out - I love the variety of styles seen here - but your skin is amazing. No makeup huh? Keep doing what you are doing!

  • Angie replied 2 years ago

Thank you all, so much! I'll be back tomorrow to comment in detail.

YES, of course, Sam and Jo steal the show. As they should :)

  • citygirldc replied 2 years ago

    Love the specs.

  • Star replied 2 years ago

I always loved you in your old specs but these are Wow!  You are wearing these specs (both), not the other way around IYKWIM.  Your beautiful face takes centre stage, and the specs compliment - which I guess is the best scenario.

  • Angie replied 2 years ago

Slim Cat, your pixie is fabulous. Never a hair out of place! Gorgeous on you.

Loss_oz, maybe you’ll show us your pixie :)

    CarolS, it’s worth the effort!

Sal, it took me a while to give in to progressives. I am not out of the woods yet. Hope your own transition is smooth.

DonnaF, Greg is the best, and our doggies are sooooo precious.

CocoLion, what a sweet thing to say, and I HOPE we both get used to the progressives. It's great to have you back on the forum!

JAileen, high five to my terrier buddy :)

MsMaven, vision correction can be VERY tricky. Glad you found some solutions.

Shevia, thank you for being so gracious!

Naz, lovely to see you chime in.

    Star, that’s awfully kind.

  • kellygirl replied 2 years ago

Late to the party but wow, did you make great selections or what! They could not suit you any better. So pretty and fun. Elegant and modern. LOVE!! And Sam and Jo--they look like they approve too. You have a beautiful family, Angie!!

  • replied 2 years ago

Both are fab on you- but Sam and Jo steal the show :)

  • replied 2 years ago

Both awesome spectacles! Both awesome doggies!

  • Lesley replied 2 years ago

Seriously amazing! These make me look forward to the day when I need to wear glasses all the time (I was told it's coming soon at my checkup this year)...

  • Angie replied 2 years ago

Suntiger, Nikki, and Leslie, thanks for the kind words!

Leslie, you'll look fabulous wearing specs all day. I guarantee it :)

  • Helena replied 2 years ago

Love them both - so pretty on you!

  • Runcarla replied 2 years ago

I struggled with my first set of progressives (early 50’s) and frankly mostly wore my older mono set.  The next time around (2 years later) I had a better time adapting.  I had a mono pair with the focal length ideal for computer (8 hours/day) that I left at work, but after retirement used for reading music (piano).  Now it’s progressives except for very close work/reading.  I hope the transition is smooth for you.

    Great choices - both pairs!

  • Brooklyn replied 2 years ago

These look great. And very you!

Doggies steal the show however :)

  • JP replied 2 years ago

They are both perfect on your beautiful face.
I love the blue color, it's very unique.

  • Angie replied 2 years ago

Brooklyn, I cannot compete with our irresistible doggies :)

    Thanks, Helena and JP!

Carla, it's tricky isn't. It's going okay so far.....fingers crossed.

  • replied 2 years ago

Read this today and thought it might provide hair project inspiration :)

  • Angie replied 2 years ago

Thanks, Nikki. Sweet! That was attentive, and I'm intrigued.

  • RobinF replied 2 years ago

Love the new glasses! So fun! The colors are great too and quite a change from your red ones! I wear mono contacs that love them. No problem at all adjusting.

  • Eliza replied 2 years ago

Love the new eye wear. Almost like Greg knows you…and has excellent taste. Hope the progressives work out. Have learned a lot about the importance of lens position here lately and it can be complicated to have everything line up. Also, those 2 cuties warm my heart. Lucky pups, lucky people.

  • Angie replied 2 years ago

Robin F, I hope my transition goes as smoothly as yours!

Eliza, always good to hear your thoughts. Thank you :)

  • Cardiff girl replied 2 years ago

Aww,snuggly dogs!Fabulous new specs, very you. Will look great with all your colourful clothes.

  • Jonesy replied 2 years ago

Both pairs look beautiful on you and very harmonious with your face, hair, and style! I'm glad the adjustment has been going okay, and thanks for posting those adorable pups <heart eyes!!!>.

  • Debbie replied 2 years ago

I just saw this. I love them. I have so much trouble picking glasses.

Jo and Dam are just the cutest. Sadie says hi!

  • Joyce B replied 2 years ago

Those are fab! Greg made good choices for you :) . Lovely puppies, too.
Now I need a frame like the transparent one you are wearing though it is probably not for my features but I can still need one :)

  • Sally replied 2 years ago

I love them, both look great but I especially like the blue ones.  i have progressives but for some reason, I don't use them properly and I"m always taking them off for close work.
    Your dogs are very cute.

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 2 years ago

Love your new glasses, Angie! Both pairs are terrific on you. The blue ones look a lot like your former red ones. And Sam and Jo made my day.

  • Bijou replied 2 years ago

Wow such gorgeous photos and you were made to wear cats eye glasses, they look sensational on you.

I love how Jo is a platinum blonde just like her Mum! The light colour fur on the top of her head is so adorable. Both doggies just melt my heart - the only thing better than one terrier is two terriers.

  • crister replied 2 years ago

    It looks just great

  • Angie replied 2 years ago

    Thanks, everyone!

Cardiff Girl, the light blue and soft pink work seamlessly into my
    outfits! Versatile.

Jonesy, thank you for being very engaged and kind in your comments. You don't miss a thing and it's appreciated!

    Crister, thank you.

    JoyceB, give it a bash!

Sharan, good eye. They are the same frames as the red but in a light and dark blue. I am painfully consistent.

Debbie, tail wags and kisses for Sadie :)

Bijou, YES! Two terriers are the bomb. Greg likes to think Jo's head is silver like his :)

  • Karie replied 2 years ago

I love the new glasses, so 1960’s retro. I tried progressives but couldn’t get used to them, hopefully you’ll have better luck than I did.
Sam and Jo are adorable as always!

  • Angie replied 2 years ago

Karie, always nice to see you chime in! Thank you, and I HEAR you on those blasted tricky vision corrections :(

  • Synne replied 2 years ago

Perfect! Always looking forward to your fun outfit (specs) photos!

  • Angie replied 2 years ago

    Synne, thank you :)

  • lyn67 replied 2 years ago

Delsih to see the new specs and those little paws in action!:-)
Greg certainly knows his job- both colors (of the specs) are so fab on your face--love that you  stay faithfull to your signiture shape and mostly  switch only colors- but how refreshing and fearless!! I also need new specs, and they will be my second multi/and bi-focals...freaking me out a little all the hassle of the process till finding the right pairs and settling in...but a girl needs a small pinch from time to time to shake and get moving, isn't it (mostly in therms of style).

  • Angie replied 2 years ago

Thanks, lyn67, for your always gracious and kind words! I hope you get use to your progressive lenses too. Here to help you choose new frames if you need assistance ;)
