New Raincoat that found me :)

In Seattle, WA, outerwear with a hood is a VERY good idea because of the rain (I'm outside on foot a lot). The wind makes umbrellas tricky, so hoods are a better bet.

I passed on one of my raincoats. The plan was to take my time replacing it because I have other hooded coats and jackets across a range of thicknesses.

Sometimes, the perfect wardrobe item unexpectedly finds you! Like this navy and white checked darling at HALF PRICE. I was looking for items for a client, and bumped into it.

No belt, side entry pockets, fab quality, good fit, soft, comfy, lined, polished, easy to pack, and a party at the back (pic #6).

Tried and tested a few times - it's perfectly waterproof. I'm happy to pattern mix with it too.

Highly recommend the raincoat if you're looking for something similar. xo

What a terrific find, love the vibrant and graphic pattern. l'm sure it will make rainy days a little more fun and bearable.

  • Lisa replied 4 weeks ago

What an awesome find! Great vibrant pattern and yay for a hood for windy, rainy days.

I also like the tonal outfit with a pop of color from the sweater and belt today too. It reminds me of a barrel jeans outfit I wore earlier this week with my new thrifted tan jacket (I'll have to post the WIW later).

eta: Angie here's the WIW post :)

Sweet!  Looks like a reasonably good job matching up the checks.

  • Suz replied 4 weeks ago

I love gingham and I love this coat on you! So great to have a hood.

  • Val MN replied 4 weeks ago

It has a nice flare to it. And flair!

  • Irina replied 4 weeks ago

    Cute!

I love when things find us. Recently, a denim skirt found me when I gave up on the idea.

  • Olive Green replied 4 weeks ago

Yes, it is very cute! And waterproof? Can’t ask for better.

  • JAileen replied 4 weeks ago

I love plaid!  And they did a beautiful job matching the plaid in the front.  It really looks great on you!

This coat is a lucky find for you, Angie! The bias checks are so great--classic with a twist. And that pleat and belt "party" at the back--a splendid detail. And the hood even looks good up. (I have some hoods that look really dorky when worn up, but I use them, regardless!)

  • Janet replied 3 weeks ago

That’s adorable, Angie! The checks are so you. Definitely a good strategy to have rainwear options in your part of the world!

I recently decided to add a good hooded rain trench to my closet. I have a very lightweight packable one I got in Switzerland, but sometimes I want something a little less…packable. A little more substantial. This Athleta one is one of my very good colors, and it fit me well, so I went for it. It also helped that there was a sale and I had a store credit!

  • Bonnie replied 3 weeks ago

That coat is adorable and perfect for you!

  • Angie replied 3 weeks ago

Thanks for the kind words, everyone!

    Dee, true! It does :)

Lisa, I'll be sure to look in a bit! Love light neutrals with a dose of bright.

Carla and JAileen, YES! The checks are well matched at the side seams.

Olive Green, practical and fun to wear :)

Suz, I can see you rock this! You know how indispensable a hood is.

Sharan, YES! The hood is a good fit. Not a slam dunk, as you know. Happy to have a hood nonetheless :)

  • Angie replied 3 weeks ago

Irina, I know, right? We find fab stuff when we're not looking for it!

Bonnie and Val MN, thank you :)

Janet, I know that raincoat! Great colour and shape for you. Glad you got it.

  • Ginkgo replied 3 weeks ago

    Jealous. Full stop.

Wandering through Nordstrom rack today, what did I spy? This coat. Now I wouldn’t have normally given it a second look, my outer wear is all solid or … false (what do we call it here? When it’s so subtle it reads solid?) Any how I thought ha! Angie has that coat. And there it was in navy with a fabulous red poppy lining! Only had large and small, tried on the Angie black and white check in medium and was perfect so onto the website I went and into my cart it went! Score. I probs wouldn’t have given it a second look.

  • Angie replied 3 weeks ago

    Carol, HAH! ;)

AndiB, glad the solid navy version of the raincoat worked out! Find below. I'm wearing a navy and cream check :)

    (We call them false plains).

  • Brooklyn replied 3 weeks ago

Perfect for you! It’s got that 60s vibe that you like. Bold, polished, a little retro. Love the pattern mix in no 2!

  • Sisi replied 3 weeks ago

Beautiful and funny raincoat! You look fab! I love the detail of the navy stripe under the buttons. The furry accessory accentuates the chic vibe.

  • RobinF replied 3 weeks ago

Cute! Fun and efficient! Can't beat that. I love the back detail.

  • Angie replied 3 weeks ago

Brooklyn, YES! I like the '60s vibe. Glad you liked the hectic pattern mix too ;)

Sisi, the vertical navy twill tape is lovely high quality detailing! Jo sends tailwags your way.

RobinF, you said it! Pretty and practical can't be beat.

  • SarahD8 replied 3 weeks ago

That coat looks tailor-made (and specially designed) for you!
And, lucky you, we're having the weather to make use of it here in Seattle. :-)

  • Angie replied 3 weeks ago

Thanks, SarahD8! It's gotten plenty use in our rainy weather lately  ;) - thankful for sunny mild weather today :)

  • Sal replied 3 weeks ago

Very cute 1960s Mod vibe - perfect for you.  I have also added a new raincoat but mine is more "gear".

It was meant to be - the perfect raincoat for you ! YLF!

  • Karie replied 2 weeks ago

I love it! Stylish and fun, a perfect combination.

  • Angie replied 2 weeks ago

Thank you, Joy, Slim Cat and Karie for chiming in with such kind words!

It poured yesterday, and my raincoat worked flawlessly :)

  • Jenni NZ replied 2 weeks ago

I’m late, have been away for my reunion. It looks awesome on you. Looks high quality and yay for half price!
I have a question though- if it really pours, won’t your trousers still get very wet and uncomfortable?

  • Angie replied 2 weeks ago

Thanks, Jenni! And to answer your question, YES. Pants this length get very soggy hems in pouring hard rain. That said, Seattle rain is often not like that. It's soft rain with small drops. You can wear pants like this without them getting too wet, especially if you're under shelter outside, avoiding puddles, and going in and out of shops. Hope that makes sense :)
