LOTS of Winter WIWS

Unlike the rest of the US arctic deep freeze, Seattle had a milder few weeks. Only a few days below freezing. It was a freak 14C today! Not typical. We have lots of wind and rain to deal with though.

The pics are self explanatory. Winter Outfits across two weeks when I remembered to photograph them! I'm out and about on foot each day.

  • Had a haircut last week so my hair length varies.
  • There are columns across colours.
  • I wear lots of solids in Winter.
  • I show the outfit in layers so you can see the progression.
  • The pink outfit has pastel pink jeans! Not white.
  • I layer jackets under coats sometimes. The red jacket has pretty poppy lining.
  • Remarkably, I wore my pink boots with just under two inch heels shopping all day - and they were comfy!! My feet are improving.
  • I add pics from the sideview because I check my outfit from the sides too.
  • I bust out a dress with cream lace hosiery on another mild day.
  • I match my shopping grocery bag with my outfit. I love the ones of famous artworks that I buy in museum shops.
  • Sam and Jo's collars and jumpers tend to match my outfit  :)

Nothing is new apart from the Mother pieced barrel jeans that I got for Christmas while shopping with a dear friend in Los Angeles (#22 to #25). And the Talbots heart striped jumper on sale in January (#36 - #37). It reminded hubs of my Japanese Commes Des Garçon tops, and I agreed. He loves it! The heart was a very intentional symbolic purchase. It reminds me to be  extra kind, soft and big-hearted.

Thanks for looking! xo

Oof! These are all SO FAB! I'm loving the monochrome ivory and green looks. And the big plaid pants! And the new jeans!! And the heart sweater! *plonk*

  • Style Fan replied 1 week ago

Fabulous outfits!  I love the plaid pants.  So many great pieces in your wardrobe.  Fantastic idea to collect bags from museums.

  • Jaime replied 1 week ago

Angie just wow. So many gorgeous bursts of color, so many beautiful lines and silhouettes, and your glorious smile is the best accessory (well maybe tied with Sam and Jo). I was struck with how well you wear bright yellow but the green really bowled me over too. Interesting what you said about the pink boots. I also find there are the rare slight heels that I can tolerate but thought it was more down to the shoe than my feet. Ok, well I only looked through once, but will be looking again for fun and inspirations, thank you for posting such a treat!

  • goldenpig replied 1 week ago

Wow! These are all amazing looks! I love how you wear all these bright happy colors and do matchy matchy with your bags and shoes. You do neon highlighter colors so well. I love the citron yellow coat and purse. I had a citron cardigan I found in my closet clean out and put in the storage/donate pile because it didn’t go with my usual autumn colors, but maybe I should go pull it out and give it a try! When I create my outfits, I don’t usually do all solids because in my mind that’s not enough interest for me, but your bright colors serve as the interest and you don’t really need patterns. The tonal greens anre really cool too. Also a lot of your coats and sweaters have unusual architectural details in the neck, it really adds to the interest. I love them all so I can’t pick a favorite! Maybe 25 because I love orange. But I love the pink one and the citron one and the heart sweater and all the dramatic volume on the bottom pants like the plaid pants and white barrels and two toned barrels! (I think I tried on those Mother jeans but they were too tight, so I ended up with another two toned barrel jean that was cheaper.) So many inspirational happy color outfits!

I also love how you incorporate matchy matchy patterns with your handbag straps and shopping totes matching your coat colors. I should try that, get shopping totes as souvenirs rather than T shirts all the time!

You have an enviable colored wool coat collection! I also like how you match your specs to your outfit, like red coat or red heart and red specs. Every bright color has at least one partner (coat and purse, specs, and/or boots) and that makes my matchy matchy heart very happy, it feels balanced and right! Like if I wore a bright colored coat with no echo in another part of the outfit, it would make me a little unsettled feeling. Is that weird? I guess that explains my matchy matchy tendencies! I love the Sam and Jo pics and how they also get in on the matchy matchy fun with mama! Reminds me of when I used to do that with my daughter!

I just love the tan, cream and citron outfit.  Oh and the pink outfit, too.  Oh, then the one with the cream coat with red, too. How many of those JCrew stadium coats do you have?  I have a heather grey one and it’s just beautiful quality.  I haven’t worn it because we’re having spring weather, instead of winter.  :(

  • Kyle replied 1 week ago

I was studying these but then I plonked with Mary. My goodness. Your silhouettes and use of color (both contrasting and repeated) are inspirational.

  • Dee replied 1 week ago

Oh my goodness, what an incredible array of colourful fabness, they are all just sooo... good. That yellow coat combo is like a burst of sunshine and the pink sweater combo packs a pretty punch. Your hair is looking ever so lovely too. I've got my hair appointment scheduled for next week myself. Fingers crossed it turns out as well as yours.

  • Suz replied 1 week ago

You are having SO MUCH FUN with fashion!!!! Love all of these! So great!! I will be back later.

  • Angie replied 1 week ago

Mary, your exuberant bubbly enthusiasm makes me smile! Thank you :)

Style Fan, I have my favourite artists covered with museum bags ;)

Jaime, such kind and gracious words, thank you! The shoe definitely makes a difference when I wear a bit of a heel. Thing is, these used to be a few hour only pink boots. Walk to dinner and back. Now I can wear them the whole day shopping! I cannot possibly match Sam and Jo's fabness ;)

Kyle, humbled and I'm blushing! Thank you!

  • Angie replied 1 week ago

JAileen, you make me laugh! Thank you! I have two J.Crew Stadium coats. The cream coat is older, and the toffee is lat year. They are GORGEOUS Italian quality. I LOVE them!! Come to Seattle and you can wear yours ;)

Natalie, oh my word! I'm happily soaking up your analysis and am launched into orbit! :)  Much appreciate the awfully kind compliments. Thank you! YES. I share your matchy-matchy gene, stripe gene, bag gene,  Maximalism gene, and cutesy heart gene - much like Mary! I also find that solids can provide plenty of energizing dopamine in my happy favourite colours. I wear patterns daily in Summer!

  • Angie replied 1 week ago

Dee, that's high praise, and I much appreciate your grace! Thanks so much! I'm sure you'll get another smashing haircut next week ;)

Suz, in this insane world, we have to get our daily jollies. I'm grateful that my wardrobe provides me with daily jollies! Thanks for the outfit love.

  • Cookie replied 1 week ago

You are REALLY selling the concept of barrel pants! They look so good on you.

Love especially the blue pea coat with the greens, and the array of pinks, and the heart sweater, and the sweet puppy faces.

  • Suz replied 1 week ago

Back to comment more. So, they are ALL my favourite, but special special love for 7-11. LOVE the almost white out wtih citron! Amazing. Those brown boots are fantastic on you (oh, for a grey pair just like that in my closet!) and as Cookie says, you are really selling the concept of barrel pants. The fit is soooo good on you and they suit you so well. Perfect lengths, too. That's hard to achieve somehow with this shape, I think.

My other fave is 17-21, because who doesn't love an ultra wide wide tartan pant (and I have a special soft spot for those...). Plus, the sentimental fab bag-from-a-friend!

And my other favourite is killer pretty in pink(s)!!

  • Brooklyn replied 1 week ago

Fanning myself here to stop from fainting. Just. So. Fabulous. It’s so hard to pick a favourite! I kept changing my mind as I scrolled through. But, I must say, extra love for the citron and white, the big, floppy pants, the blue denim and floral, the red and cream and ALL the green. I love seeing you in a blue-green combination. Snap!

Fearless, original, fashion forward. You are a true inspiration.

  • Irina replied 1 week ago

These are some of my favorite outfits of yours, Angie!
Perfect! So creative, fun and absolutely stunning. Love!

  • Bijou replied 1 week ago

I'm loving this masterclass in style. The cream boots and lacy stockings - what a gorgeous and unexpected combination, partially hidden by your dress. The citron coat is still as beautiful on you as the day it was newly purchased.

  • Debbie replied 1 week ago

I love everything. The pink outfit is actually my favorite. Those two tone barrels are very fab. The heart sweater is wonderful.
It all looks amazing and you look beautiful in everything!

  • Star (Lise) replied 1 week ago

Gorgeous rainbow!! My absolute favourite is the first outfit. Those barrels look phenomenal. Love the neutrals and then that red pop. Such a cool lining. Next favourite the dress outfit, modern 70s IYKWIM. And you wore the Burberry, and it looks fab!

  • Column replied 1 week ago

    Angie,
What are the items in #1 (jeans and sweater). Drop. Dead!

  • bella replied 1 week ago

Wow, so so pretty! Everything looks amazing, but I am enamoured with 7-8.

  • slim cat replied 1 week ago

So fabulous - love the abundance of colors in your winter looks! My favorite are pink outfit #26-30 ( #30 is so sweet! ) , #36-37, and #38-39 ( green is so perfect on you! ).

  • pirouette replied 1 week ago

I love your outfits. I especially love the cream jeans outfit and also the dark jeans and navy jumper. Your hair as always looks great and your little dogs are so loveable and you can see what a wonderful relationship you have with them.

  • Sisi replied 1 week ago

I always appreciate your capability of putting together Winter outfits full of colour. I always say that especially in Winter we need happy colours, but it's so difficult to find them at retail! Your hair is more beautiful than ever. And of course the last photo is my favorite!

  • RobinF replied 1 week ago

Oh wow, you have such a fabulous wardrobe! Love the cream with bright yellow coat and then the all pink! So fabulous! Each time I think I have a favorite I see the next and change my mind!

  • Suntiger replied 1 week ago

Yay to happy feet- and sooooo jealous of your above freezing weather!
Plonk to your cream outfit (with and without coat) and your columns of pink and green and your lacy stockings!
Hugs and pets to Sam and Jo :) Are they coming to NY?

  • cat2 replied 1 week ago

Great coat collection! And of course I love the cream and brown additions and a great plaid. Happy news that you are making progress on your feet. My ankle was wonky for several years and then really made progress when I ramped up swimming. Glad you have found a path that is working.

  • sabimct replied 1 week ago

I just LOVE it when you share these photos!  Thank you so much Angie!  Somehow, you seem to bridge the gap between inspirational but also accessible!  And it is so much fun to see someone enjoy their wardrobe so much.  It's like you give me permission to do the same!

  • Angie replied 1 week ago

WOW! Thank you, everyone! Appreciate you chiming in :)

I forgot to add FINDS. Will add them in a bit.

Cookie, HAH! I've been in a barrel jeans mood lately, and it shows! Sam and Jo send tailwags your way :)

Suz, such kind words! Hope you find the grey version of my toffee boots! They became instant workhorses, and I bet yours will too. You're dead right about getting the length right on barrels. It makes a difference, and I lucked out! And I get why you have a sweet spot for my floppy super wide brown tartan trousers. They need to be yours in greys and blues ;)

  • Angie replied 1 week ago

Brooklyn, WOW, thank you!! I'm blushing! That's extremely high praise, and much appreciated! YES. That blue-green emerald that I wear is yummy with navy, cream and sour hello colours! Fun to snap with you - AGAIN :)

Irina, such kind compliments, and thanks so much! The columns of colours are something you enjoy wearing too, so high five!

Bijou, thank you! The lace hosiery is surprisingly comfy, and I enjoyed it. That citron coat is 10 years old and a London purchase. It's one of my favourite pieces :)

  • Angie replied 1 week ago

Debbie, you are always so lovely and kind! Fun that the pink is your fave. Jo likes her pink collar ;)

Star, the arc jeans in #1 were my first barrel jeans 7 years ago! They are  baby barrels since their shape is gentle. Yes, the frock is fably '70s which is why I got it - AND my Burberry had an outing. Well spotted ;)

Column, those are both OLD items! Arc jeans from 7 years ago, and a COS T-neck from 10 years ago:

  • ChristelJ replied 1 week ago

You exude joy, energy and ease in all your gorgeous outfits. Such a delight to look at! I have different favorites every time I scan through. The citron! The cropped jackets! The plaid pants! The heart sweater! Etc!  Your looks are perfection, but I enjoy knowing that they also function for you in daily life with walking and doggies.

  • Angie replied 1 week ago

    Bella, thank you!

Slim cat, appreciate the kind words! Fun that the pink and greens are your faves! Jo sends loving little licks your way :)

Pirouette and Sisi, thanks for the outfit, hair love, and doggie love! I cannot put into words how much I love our enchanting Sam and Jo. It's graceful of you both to mention that.

RobinF, thanks for the wardrobe love! Your faves make me feel like putting together a white, pink and citron outfit :)

  • Angie replied 1 week ago

Suntiger, high five to another column lover, and thanks for the sweet compliments! Sam and Jo will be at the Seattle gatherings but not at the NY one. They send licks and tailwags :)

cat2, thanks for the coat love! Wool coats get a workout in Seattle - most outerwear really -  and I'm glad to have a large capsule. The new toffee coat has become a workhorse. Thanks for the foot support too! Perhaps almost daily Pilates is helping my feet?  Glad your ankle challenge is sorted, and YES to swimming being soooo good for your body :)

  • Angie replied 1 week ago

sabimct, great to see you chime in and thanks for the compliments! PLEASE enjoy your wardrobe too!

ChristelJ, such gracious words and I'm blushing. Thanks, so much! When you wear wider bottoms like I do, short jackets are a great silhouette of topper - hence I have several :)

  • Jenni NZ replied 1 week ago

Very nice Angie. My favourite is the cream and citron outfit, I do love yellow!
Glad your feet are feeling better.

  • Carla replied 1 week ago

I got a hit of dopamine just looking at your ‘fits!  Thanks so much for sharing!

  • Helena replied 1 week ago

Love these ... The PINK! And You look so good in navy!! But it would be impossible to choose a favourite, just gorgeous one and all.

  • lyn67 replied 1 week ago

I'm in awe, the last pictie is so adorable-you made my evening(as the day is over, here already:-))!!!
Otherwise, looking at your wiw's over the years in the past I always  thought  it cannot be better than that but  you always prooved I'm wrong. This set is another  killer from the series.  Loved  especially the columned looks- esp when you do it so unexpectedly for my eyes used to the sea of dark all winter long. Love love love the cream column with the citron coat, but really all are stunning-your wardrobe is full of beautiful items, and you are so creatively mixing them.. Another fave is your denim dress here. I also spoted it in your blog abot denim trends-and thought I would like to see it modelled once as I did not remember to see it on you. And here it comes  my wish is already fulfilled-thank you for posting. And your hair is always your best accessory!

  • LJP replied 1 week ago

You’re such a cutie , Angie and I so love seeing all your outfits in one post like this . And the shorter your hair gets the more I love it ! The variety in your wardrobe is like nothing I’ve seen before , and I can appreciate and imagine how happy it makes you .

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 1 week ago

What a super treat! I do like seeing the outfit progression, as you add the layers. The outfits work beautifully at each stage, and the final version is so well coordinated. Is that the Burberry peacoat in 39? If so, I love that you found yet another enticing way to wear it. Navy over the greens is so rich and enticing.
Your plaid pants outfit is so much fun. I'm on the lookout for some new ones myself, and am about to try a pair I found at Bloomingdale's.
#6 steals my heart; that must be Sam all bundled up? Then #30 and #43, and I'm just swooning.

  • AJ replied 1 week ago

Looking at all the thumbnails together is like opening up a brand new box of crayons!  Then when I click on each photo, I ooohhh and awww and swoon!  Each one is so pretty!!

I want a barbie doll version of you complete with your entire wardrobe and accessories!  Greg, make that happen!  You will sell out quickly!

I am now contemplating the trifecta of matching outerwear, footwear, and purse for my own wardrobe.  :)

  • Jonesy replied 1 week ago

Vibrant, full of life, and inspiring! Hard to pick favorites, but I especially love 1-6 (the camel, navy, and bright red is fabulous!), 7-11 (the textures! the sharpness of the shape of the coat in contrast to its boucle-ness! and these colors are so very you), 17-21 (those pleated, plaid pants are not for amateur big pants wearers :) and they look smashing on you! love the styling with the graphic turtleneck and cropped jacket), 31-35 (LOVE the scrunched red pants with the rain boots--chic + function), and 39 (the column of deep green with the Burberry jacket looks sooo good!).

Thanks for sharing these, and waving at Sam and Jo! This time of year can feel very gloomy and bleak, but you are a ray of sunshine and energy.

  • UmmLila (Lisa) replied 1 week ago

I adore all the color in these. The pink boots and the plaid paints are to die for.

  • Angie replied 1 week ago

    Thank you all, soooo much!

Jenni, go Team Yellow! And happy feet ;)

    Carla, glad to hear it!

Helena, thanks for the kind words! I love wearing rich navy tops. Good to know you think it looks fab ;)

Lyn67, such awfully sweet words, and high praise! Much appreciate your grace and wit from the heart! And a coincidence that I'm wearing the dress you were curious about! Ticked off the list.

  • Angie replied 1 week ago

LJP, thank you very much! I'm with you on much preferring my hair short. Bixies are full of movement, which is fun to play with actually ;)

Sharan, your analytical and good eye are a pleasure! Thanks for the deep dive into my outfits, and for your always gracious words! YES. The Burberry went out to play with green. That's tiny Jo bundled up in an oatmeal cabled turtleneck to match Mama. And I'm excited to see your new plaid pants!

AJ, HAH! You crack me up. Good giggle! Thanks for the sweet compliments, and for being delightful ;)

  • Angie replied 1 week ago

Jonesy, WOW! Wonderful to see you chime in with such graciously expressed enormous detail! Thank you so much! Your great eye does not miss a trick. You also noticed my red bootcuts tucked into rain boots to prevent soggy hems. Impressed! And I may have earned a doctorate in wide trousers ;) Sam and Jo send tail wags and playful prances your way.

UmmLila, thank you. And please live!

  • aloha emily replied 1 week ago

Thank you so much for posting these! I learn a lot from how you put things together. I love seeing how each outfit is unique, but your overall style persona remains clear and consistent in the variety. Also very inspired by your color choices- and learning to pay attention to fit and proportion. Of course the absolute highlights are Sam and Jo!! Hugs from auntie Emily!!

  • Karie replied 1 week ago

Sweet Sister! You rock every one of these outfits. My favorite is the pink and white, #26-30, but really I love them all. And that last photo with your fur babies! The best.

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 1 week ago

How funny--I thought for sure "old man" Sam would be wearing the sweater!

  • Angie replied 1 week ago

Emily, glad this was helpful! Humbled to have inspired you, and our babies send loving licks to you ;)

Karie, thanks so much! The pink looks like an outfit that you would wear - and matches your previously pink hairn :) Sam and Jo send playful prances to Cosmo and Callie!

Sharan, sweet elegant Sam has grey, navy, and navy striped turtleneck sweaters. He's a Ralph Lauren model ;)

  • Lisa replied 6 days ago

This post is such a treat, so many gorgeous outfits! It's a real feast for the eyes, so very hard to pick a favorite. I adore how you pair modern bottoms with classic on top, all grounded in fun colors. I adore your WIWs!

  • Angie replied 5 days ago

Thank you, Lisa! Appreciate the awfully kind words. WOW! :)

  • kellygirl replied 4 days ago

Holy cow, I can't pick a favorite but you are queen of color! Your color pairing skills are enviable. Crisp, modern, playful and sooo chic. It kind of boggles my mind that it's possible to look this good every day!  Love your style, Angie!

  • Ket replied 4 days ago

Oh Angie! I just love seeing your outfits! You are so exuberant and ebullient! My favorites of yours are everything, but especially the citron coat! The fabric, neck detail, and shape are sooo yummy!

Jo looks very jaunty in her matching pink collar!

I appreciate you showing the layer progression for each outfit. That is really helpful to see how you built each outfit.

Our mountain area in Colorado has had a very mild winter. It's been mostly sunny, warm (4-17C!!), and dry. I have partially enjoyed the mildness, and partially been annoyed by it. I've hardly worn any of my heavier winter clothing.

  • Angie replied 4 days ago

Kelly, WOW! I'm blushing at your awfully gracious words! Thanks so much :)

Ket, your exuberance makes me smile! Such kind and sweet compliments that I much appreciate! Thank you. The weather is all over the place, isn't it? Who knows what this means for Summer!

  • Lynne replied 16 hours ago

All stunning, and the pink outfit is so joyful!

  • The Cat replied 14 hours ago

LOTS of stunning outfits. My favourites are #9, #12/13 and #39.

Love your patterned white hosiery with your light boots. What material is it?
