FINALLY: New Wardrobe! (Pics)

After living in a rental for 14 months, we FINALLY moved back into our remodeled loft. To say we're happy to be back home in an understatement.

I now have a pukka custom-made walk in wardrobe that I share with hubs Greg. Greg designed the wardrobe with my input. It's light, has a view, and we can see EVERYTHING. It's our dream wardrobe in every sense. Not too big, stunning quality, and beautifully practical.

There are special shelves for my 25 bags!!!

Belt rack for belt storage will be hung this week.

In this walk in wardrobe, I have all the hanging space, most of the shelves, and some of the drawers. Greg also has drawers and hanging space in another cabinet we had built in the bedroom. I pop my undies, sleepwear, and loungewear into that cabinet. And my snow boots are in Greg's shoe closet.

The boxes are home to my pearl pieces. Each box was bought in a country on our travels.

We keep our coats in a coat closet by the door, which I shared here:

https://youlookfab.com/welookf.....oat-closet

This is EVERYTHING. No holding zones, no swapping out of seasons, no storage under the bed, in a cage, and the like. When you live in a loft you have limited space to begin with and you have to make it work. It's compact living, which we enjoy.

VERY HAPPY!!! :)

Thanks for looking. xo

    Squeal!!

Isn't it lovely Angie!! And so practical too.  It is so easy to see what you have, and not forget anything that is tucked away.  It's spacious but not too large.  Just perfect.

It must be a joy to look at and use.  Happy times.

We are looking forward to retirement in five years, and have bought an apartment, which will be a big down-size for us. I have been thinking about the wardrobe situation - this is inspiring! Thank you for sharing, it is perfect.

Angie - I am so happy for you and Greg!  What a relief, and what a joy!

I too have lived through a long reno [kitchen, mudroom, laundry room] and found it so unsettling to be out of my home.  The relief when we were back in our space was overwhelming!

As always, I learn from your posts.  I often wonder, as I work to organize my own wardrobe [which I enjoy immensely] - "Am I doing this right? Is there a better way?"  I thank you for offering us a peek into how you have organized things. As a professional, you have put a lot of thought and planning into this, and it's generous of you to share.

    Happy spring!

  • RobinF replied 6 months ago

Ooh all the pretty colors! Looks beautiful! How nice to be back home!

  • Indigoprint replied 6 months ago

Lovely! Everything has a place and everything's in its place, such a good feeling!

  • Carol replied 6 months ago

Wow. Those views are to die for, and I am also a sucker for a light, natural wood stain.  Really nice space, and it looks like you thought out how it would work for you.

  • Angie replied 6 months ago

Thanks for the kind words, everyone! It’s a dream come true and an absolute JOY :)

Jenni! Nothing is hidden away. There are 2 shoulder bags in the closet because they don’t stand. You can see them in pic 8. There is a bag in the Chanel box in pic 9. And a body bag on the shelf further down behind the closet that I can see, also pic 9. That makes 25 :)

Yes to an NA toast! I don’t drink alcohol.

  • Laurie replied 6 months ago

Utterly and completely fantastic. The aspect of natural light in a closet is so good.

And this is such an inspiration to trim down my unnecessarily bloated wardrobe, pronto.

  • Lisa replied 6 months ago

Congrats on moving back in! Closet looks amazing! I adore that you have special shelves to display the bags, a most excellent special touch. Wishing you and Greg lots of joy with your newly renovated home!

  • Irina replied 6 months ago

  • Jenni NZ replied 6 months ago

Oh very good! The count is complete!

Incredible! I hope you enjoy many happy years in your perfected space.

  • Brooklyn replied 6 months ago

So exciting! I love the way your bags are displayed so you can enjoy them even when you are not using them.

Congratulations on moving back in! We have renovated a few times and I know it’s a long, arduous haul.

  • Suz replied 6 months ago

Angie, it’s not just a wardrobe. It’s a functional part of your bright modern decor! Gorgeous colours and organization and completely in sync with the rest of the lift! Your bags on display are a work of modern art. And I love the juxtaposition with the antique boxes. Brava!! Enjoy!

  • Kim M replied 6 months ago

I’m so glad you’re back in your loft , it’s does seem like forever. Everything is so organized and joyful. Your handbags are their own colorful wardrobe art installation.

Thanks, everyone! I am THRILLED with the results! Magical :)

  • hbeaver replied 6 months ago

Your closet looks wonderful! So your sweaters are in a drawer-do they get wrinkled by storing them in this fashion?

  • Angie replied 6 months ago

hbeaver, not really! Most of my knits stay relatively uncreased stored this way.

  • Minaminu replied 6 months ago

So good! Hope it will bring you lots of joy!

Congratulations!!!  14 1/2 months?!   That is both a commitment and a small nightmare, in my book!

But your space is so beautiful, I want to pull a chair in there and sit and soak it all in.  It’s meditative.

  • Angie replied 6 months ago

Thanks for the kind words everyone!

SOOOOOOOO HAPPY TO BE HOME :)

Marianna, Ms. Valentino will stay with me FOREVER!!!!

Mary Beth, closer to nightmare - truly. Never again!

What a beautiful space and such a gorgeous, happy, bright and colorful wardrobe. :)

  • lyn67 replied 6 months ago

Aw, I'm delighted, as sooo soo happy for You!!! Perfect use of the walls under the windows for the bags display-(I couldn't do that as we have the radiators there)-think you have underfloor heating isn't it! High five!

  • Angie replied 6 months ago

Thanks, everyone! The new wardrobe is an absolute treat in every way.

Cheryl and Lyn67, wonderful to see you chime in :)

No underfloor heating! We have a newly installed HVAC system which uses vents and it's life changing.
