Dress Challenge: Heat, Swoosh & a Switcheroo

It's 32C today. 90F. Sunny, dry, a little humid but not much. This is unusual heat for Seattle - and I love it! It's energizing.

My new Free People dress is PERFECT-FOR-ME for this type of heat because it's 100% natural fibers, covered, does not crease, and has mega movement. Its comfort level is sublime. The swoosh when I stride is extremely ventilating - it's like built in air-conditioning. It looks tight up top, but it's very roomy - see pic #5.
A little lace from a cotton cami peeking out from the neckline makes me feel alluring - see Pic #5.

First set of pics = dressier to see a client in the morning

SWITCHEROO

Second set of pics = took Sam for a walk this afternoon and switched to sneakers, sunnies and a tiny crossbody. Did some errands too. Walk is in the CITY, like walking in Manhattan - and not a muddy and sandy dog park, hence this outfit works well....as long as there is movement on the bottom and my feet are happy. That's why I leave the sheath and heels  wearing to you :)

LOVE my new sneaks, now that they have been doctored to fit. Duplicated!

I LOVE this dress, and wish I had it in another colour. Oh well. Next year....

Gorgeous dress Angie and I love the colour.  So flattering.  Matches your specs!  Cute sneaks.  Living downtown is so much fun.  One of the reasons I enjoy our trips to Montreal.  Downtown living appeals to me.

  • Deborah replied 4 years ago

Hi Angie!  You look stunning.  The print is just beautiful and I love both stylings.  Thanks to a painful case of plantar faciitus I have become a very committed sneaker wearer - who would have thought lol and while it took some adjusting to, I just love the sneaker with gorgeous dress look.  You look wonderful in red :)xxx

  • Angie replied 4 years ago

Style Fan, I bet. We LOVE living in the middle of the city and on the water. It's equally bustling and calming.

  • Angie replied 4 years ago

Debs, lovely that you popped in. Thanks for the kind words, and sorry about your PF. What a mare. Good thing sneakers are just about the most fashionable sneaker on the planet, and I know you look smashing in yours. Rock on.

  • replied 4 years ago

Another knockout! What doctoring did you have to do to your sneakers? I really, really wish I looked like this in a dress - you are killing me !  Sigh. Back to my separates and figuring smothering looks.

  • Bonnie replied 4 years ago

You look stylish and lovely in your red dress. Glad you are enjoying city life, it sounds fun.

  • Jaime replied 4 years ago

You must be turning a lot of heads in downtown Seattle! You look gorgeous and so natural or cohesive. Integrated! Perhaps that is what I mean? Inner and outer grace in perfect balance.

  • Karie replied 4 years ago

Gorgeous dress and I love it with sneakers.

  • taylor replied 4 years ago

Ohhhhhh, love this with the citron bag and sneaks !
Really beautiful dress on you ! Hair is looking fab as well !

  • Becky replied 4 years ago

My pragmatic self loves how you've taken this gorgeous dress and make it work for everything you needed to do during the day with just a few simple changes.

  • kellygirl replied 4 years ago

So pretty! You look terrific in brights. Love the dress and how you make it work for different activities. Now that’s style!

  • Jenn replied 4 years ago

Dog walking in pearls. So very Angie. :)

  • Runcarla replied 4 years ago

    Beautiful in all variations!

  • Suz replied 4 years ago

This is FANTASTIC!! I love it SOOOOO much. You look sensational in it. Truly truly gorgeous. So cool that you can dress it up, dress it down.

And wow, it was hot today. I fear for our forests. And without AC, we are perspiring in our rental. But I do love the sun!

  • Suz replied 4 years ago

In fact, I love it so much I just ordered the dress from the Rack. Couldn't resist. I hope you don't mind a dress twin. In a different city.

  • Jane replied 4 years ago

The dress looks super! I love your colour combinations.

I would love to make the collar on my version of this dress pop permanently.

Waving to Suz (almost) a dress twin in a different colour!

  • Mirjana replied 4 years ago

Wow, wow, Angie, you are absolutely divine in this dress, elegant, chic , modern, really sensational. Perfect dress for hot summer day . It's 34C here today and expecting 38C next days I understand you.

  • Cee replied 4 years ago

    Swoosh that bugger !!

  • kkards replied 4 years ago

love this dress both ways....and jealous re the weather...we seem to be having a prolonged cold/wet spring...today it's a high of 70F (21C) and rain...then 2 days of mid 70s no rain, but then next week its back to rain every day....

  • replied 4 years ago

Love it-though that's a 60ish degree formula to me ;) I thought in the one pic you had heels on!
    *carries off little citron bag*

  • Staysfit replied 4 years ago

Wow, I love love tomato and citron together! It’s a wonderful and fresh combination for you.

  • RobinF replied 4 years ago

Love this on you, especially with the sneakers! I love to walk places too, sounds like a fun location. I’m jealous of your warm weather, cold and rainy here today and for the near future.

  • Vildy replied 4 years ago

That print looks so refreshing for hot weather, too.  Puts me in mind of frothiness, bubbling, aeration.

  • RainB replied 4 years ago

Beautiful! And love that pop of citron.

  • Joyce B replied 4 years ago

    Great looks like always :)

  • Tanya replied 4 years ago

Perfect looks, both of them. The dress really suits you.

  • Janet replied 4 years ago

I really like that dress (although I’m with suntiger — that’s a dress for 60-70 degree weather in our world!), and you wear it to perfection!

I would not mind finding a great printed casual shirt dress with a bit of ease and airiness like this has on you, but the prints this year are mostly leaving me cold (it’s not my year for color!). I have my loose grey one, which is good but a lot of grey (I punch it up with metallics and a bright bag), and a very structured plaid one that I love, but it has a very limited wearing season. I simply need a new climate! :-D

  • DeAnna replied 4 years ago

I just love that dress on you and Sam is so cute to.

  • Chris987 replied 4 years ago

Wow, another stunning Angie dress. Gorgeous! I'm with Janet on the climate comments, although my hot humid summers are a bit shorter than hers. It's great to hear about a covered up look in the heat, which of course is common in many parts of the world. It looks so much more refined and interesting than the sea of tank tops/shorts I see in my world even now when it's not really warm enough IMHO.

I'm not much of a dress wearer myself but who knows, with all this great inspiration.....

  • Cardiff girl replied 4 years ago

Beautiful dress.Lovely colour and classic shape. You are very good at finding flattering dresses.

  • ChristelJ replied 4 years ago

I'm with you on ventilating swoosh! Perfect way to be elegant, covered and still cool. Even better when the outfit is walkable.
Your beautiful dress is a joyful celebration with every step!

  • Angie replied 4 years ago

Oh my word, thanks for the awfully kind compliments, ladies. And you made me laugh. I'm blushing and smiling.

Suz, YAY. Fun to be dress triplets with Jane.

Lisa P, you can absolutely wear a dress like this, and here's how I doctored these sneakers:

    https://youlookfab.com/welookf.....cco-sneaks

Becky, like you, I enjoy dressing in a pragmatic way......with pearls.

Taylor, appreciate the professional hair comment. I'm enjoying the change.

  • lyn67 replied 4 years ago

Oh, another gorgeous dress-has a beautifull cut, love the pearls and sneaks together-and the unexpected pairing with citron! K2K!

  • Angie replied 4 years ago

    Lyn67, you're sweet.

  • JAileen replied 4 years ago

I love this on you, both ways. Best accessory? Sam, of course.

  • Sara L. replied 4 years ago

Great dress!  I like how you showed both stylings here and how easy it can be to go from dressed up to casual with just a few changes.

  • Laura replied 4 years ago

Holy cow!! Dress nirvana is getting more nirvana-esque with each passing day of the challenge, This can be a tricky silhouette with the knot in front and relatively low on the torso and you wear it with panache!

This challenge is so enjoyable that I'm already verklempt thinking that it will come to an end one day.

  • nemosmom replied 4 years ago

Wow, Angie, you look amazing in that dress! Those sneaks are perfect for your walking-centric lifestyle and look really smart with it, too.

I threw on my jersey midi dress Tuesday to try to participate in the challenge, but my legs felt too naked... I ripped off the dress faster than I had put it on!

  • Angie replied 4 years ago

    Thanks, ladies.

Janet, Sam ups my style quotient.

Laura, the dress challenge doesn't have to end! Queen Dress rocks them year round. You crack me up.

Nemosmon, you crack me up too. Lets see the midi :)

  • rachylou replied 4 years ago

I esp. love it with the tennies!

  • Angie replied 4 years ago

Thanks, Rachy. Those sneaks are the bombWhere are you that it was 107F? Not in San Fran...

  • rachylou replied 4 years ago

East Bay Hills. It’s the Crazy Microclimate Thing.

  • Katerina replied 4 years ago

This is THE perfect dress for you Angie. Gorgeous how the scale of the patterns is just right for you, the colours and the silhouette - exquisite.

  • BlueJay replied 4 years ago

Lovely dress, Angie! You wear it well (as always)!

I think our climates have switched.

  • Angie replied 4 years ago

    Rachy, WOW.

Katerina, that’s so gracious. Thank you. I wish I had another version of this dress...

Blue Jay, sorry to have stolen your weather. I love it!

  • Joy replied 4 years ago

You are knockimythe dress challenge out of the (dog) park. And your enviable weather! The last few days we were in Yellowstone National Park ( no internet) where it struggled to get above 60F for a few minutes, and we saw lots of snow. Some roads were still closed from winter. A puffer jacket layered over long sleeves and a tank with full length winter weight jeans felt good.
Anyway. You look so pretty and swishy.

  • Angie replied 4 years ago

Joy, you crack me up. GLAD you're out of the snow.

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 4 years ago

I like the slightly retro vibe of this dress, and how your haircut adds a lot of edge to the look. The "switcheroo" is so fun--changing out the bag and shoes is a great way to adapt to the day's events without having to do a complete change.

  • stella replied 4 years ago

Angie, I am your dress almost-twin. I bought it in white earlier this year. Wore it with black leggings underneath to a concert and booties and i was SO comfortable. Great pick and I love how how styled it.

  • Bijou replied 4 years ago

Wow this dress is just so pretty on you - I love it both ways. Your Furla bags work with everything!

  • Angie replied 4 years ago

    Sharan, :)

Stella. YAY. Your outfit sounds fab. Love our dress.

Bijou, that's why I have a big and happy Furla family.
