Some Casual in Action WIW's

It's been a disappointing year for dresses, but a brilliant one for pants, jeans, colours and patterns. I'm MILKING IT, loving it, and having lots of fun.

These outfits are a good gauge of what I wear daily as CASUAL wear at the moment. I don't wear sneakers when I work with clients, and usually wear pants, skirts or dresses (sometimes jeans, though) - so these are non-client outfits.

Lots of colour and pattern, very comfy footwear, warm layers, classics and trends, new items and old items, and everything on foot. Often with Sam.

New shorter hair that I sometimes wear straight and sometimes wavy. Trying to show you all the angles, hence the funny pics....

Last few pics are what I'm going to wear to a not too dressy Gala next week, and I'll curl my hair like the last pic. Very different - might not be your cuppa, and that's okay! I bat for Team Puffy Sleeves. I feel very happy in the outfit.

#authenticstyle :)

Ooh, you look gorgeous and so cheerful in all the outfits.  I especially love the Gala one.  And Sam is cure as a button.

  • Jaime replied 4 years ago

What fun! I love your new haircut and crazy poses. And mustard! My favorite is #13. I mean for poses - all the outfits are my favorites. Although maybe those jeans and your gala outfit are my favorite favorites!

  • JAileen replied 4 years ago

I love the red jacket. So fab! And Sam is extra cute.

  • Angie replied 4 years ago

Tanya, lovely to see you chime in. Thanks for appreciating the Gala look, little Style Sis.

JAileen, nice to hear you're on Team Red.

Jaime, your thoughts delight me. Those are the BR wide leg jeans I LOVE!

  • Karie replied 4 years ago

I love all the gorgeous, cheerful color! Your gala outfit is divine, and so is your hair.

  • Classically Casual replied 4 years ago

Wow, you and Sam have matching outfits...that takes it to a whole ‘nother level. So much attention to detail. You both look colorful and fabulous. And the prevalence of yellow is so cheerful.

  • Angie replied 4 years ago

Karie and Peggy, lovely to see you chime in! Thanks for the kind words, and YES to matching outfits to our doggies. Why not :)

  • Runcarla replied 4 years ago

I like your hair all the ways you wear it, Angie, though the curly/wavy style may win by a smidge. I’m sorry you can’t find the dresses you want, but your pants game is winning.

FWIW - I saw a woman in those stompy Converse in black. She had wide leg cropped black jeans, a black leather moto jacket, and a statement t-shirt. She had brown/blonde wavy hair just past her shoulders. She was walking in long confident strides, and looked fabulous!

  • fathenry replied 4 years ago

Thanks for sharing your casual outfits, they are so cheerful and fun! Love it!

  • Angie replied 4 years ago

Carla, I had a stellar dress season last year, which will keep me going for a while. I may not complain! I enjoy wearing trendy pants and jeans, so it's more than made up for it. Thanks for the hair love.

    Fathenry, you are lovely.

  • Joyce B replied 4 years ago

Gorgeous and happy outfits, I cannot pick a favorite.

  • Christina F. replied 4 years ago

Gorgeous outfits! Leave it to you to find a citron velvet skirt.

I finally bit in those Converse, in red.

  • Suz replied 4 years ago

Oh, wow, what a treat!! You look sensational in these warm and happy brights! I can't pick a favourite outfit, but have to remark on how absolutely STUNNING you are in the mustard top!!! Boden should invite you to model it. And those BR jeans look splendid! What a fun outfit with the fab yellow sneakers. I can't quite copy (because the mustard top would look hideous on me...) but maybe I can do something similar when my red sneakers arrive. :)

Also, what a pretty top in your Gala outfit! Beautifully subtly detailed and the colours are so fab on you. Love it with the glowing skirt - a bit unusual and lovely. Do you have Finds for those?

ETA: that is going to be an early 30s movie star look with your waved hair. Gorgeous!

Hair looks terrific in all iterations! It's fun -- a bit hard and also soft at the same time -- a very interesting look.

Also love that you have returned to wearing the twinset. It's great to see items like that come back into play.

  • Angie replied 4 years ago

    Joyce, nice to see you!

Christina, it's more mustard in person, and comes in a gorgeous rich teal too. Yay, Converse twins!

Suz, you are as gracious as ever. Thank you so much! Your comments always make me smile. I look forward to seeing your versions YOUR way. I'm enjoying my two-faced hair :)

Here is the skirt. And the Anthro Collector just stopped working....

    Here is the Gala top:

Vivid! My fave are those gold shoes

  • Joy replied 4 years ago

Angie, you own your style and look so cute. Your hair is stunning. My favorite outfit is the gala outfit. That top probably also looks fab with your mustard velvet pants too.

  • Angie replied 4 years ago

Thanks, Joy. You are so sweet, and what a great idea! I'll try that tomorrow :)

Rachy, I just realized that I can wear the outfit with these too:

So much loveliness here ! The gala outfit is outstanding - so unique and interesting . And those jeans , the plaid jacket , the mustard shirt = love it all . And the biggest pleasant surprise is the red jeans - they look MUCH better on you than in the stock photo . Super cute .

Also liking this new hair - very cool.

  • kellygirl replied 4 years ago

You are an absolute delight, Angie! I LOVE you in yellows and reds. SO fun and energizing. I smile just looking at your WIWs. It's a treat to see your outfits in action. I bet people are just knocked out by your style when they see you on the street!

  • Jane replied 4 years ago

I love these photos. As KellyGirl says - it is a treat to see. Your hair is so good! I love the way you are able to pull together outfits that look so crisp. And the consistency in your style and the way it evolves is fab to see.

Look at little Sam’s coats - so cute!

Every single outfit is fantastic of course, but I hadn't yet seen the one with the mustard Boden shirt, high-waisted jeans, and mustard Converse: it is divine!!!
    Gala look is gorgeous too!!

I love your hair, so cute on you. I am really loving all the mustard and Boden has the best. I ordered the shirt can't wait to get it in, I hope it looks as awesome as it looks on you.

  • Bijou replied 4 years ago

Wow - what a treat, you are so beautiful in each and every outfit. I adore the gala outfit, beautiful and unique amongst what is likely to be a sea of black dresses.

I am so please that you decided to add mustard to your wardrobe. This is such a bright sunny shade of mustard, it is gorgeous on you. I'm so tempted to get the Boden mustard shirt now given how lovely it is on you. Suz is right, Boden should get you to model.

  • lyn67 replied 4 years ago

OMG, what a treat!!!-happy dance! I first read your blog with the roundup items, and was sure the yellow skirt will be yours, even before mentioning it, and OMG how fab you styled it for the gala, plonk!!! Now, sorry you'll have to miss my detailed comments for the others as gorgeous as they can be all your looks, as  have no patience to write more,

    i am excited-

to go back and see all your fab 22' pics again-and again!!!(-guess this will be my very personal catch 22!:-))

Very intersting to see how you do casual! Love the bomber style jacket in 4!

  • Suz replied 4 years ago

Oooh, the top is gorgeous up close! Very interesting and appealing. If I had a dress up occasion I would be tempted. I love how it is covered and modest yet special.

  • taylor replied 4 years ago

    ABSOLUTELY LOVE the hair❤️

You are anything but casual ,  your style is stunning and you look beautiful in each and every photo!

  • Laura replied 4 years ago

The new ‘do!! Oh my gosh I’m loving it on you! Operation Hair Growing Out was clearly a smashing success!

By the way, I just returned my red Sam Edelman coat after deciding that the investment to get shoes or a handbag to create a complement was more than I wanted to do. Plus, I have so darned many other complements I’m enjoying!

  • Style Fan replied 4 years ago

Gorgeous hair!  Love the outfits.  Those BR jeans are definitely a success.  What fun to have a doggie to dress!

  • RobinF replied 4 years ago

Wow, I love these! My favorite has to be the mustard shirt outfit - so fabulous. And love the hair curly!

  • kkards replied 4 years ago

and Sam....the fashion accessory of the season

  • Laura replied 4 years ago

Wait! I just noticed the back. Wow!! Dramatic and dare I say, sassy!

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 4 years ago

Wow, stunning, Angie! Your haircut is so fun and versatile. I like it both straight and wavy, too. (I'm wearing mine a little straighter today; it's fun to change it up.) The yellow print blouse with the plaid blazer is amazing. Your styling prowess really shows here.

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 4 years ago

    And Sam!! Mwah!!

  • rebekahphoto replied 4 years ago

Love the red jacket! I was tempted, but I already have this crazy gold shearling (& hubs says no more coats!)

I love all the bright colors, Those yellows look so nice on you--they don't work for me so I have to appreciate them on others as Im a teal/blue cool gal

  • The Cat replied 4 years ago

All those happy colours and your playful attitude make me (and everybody around you, I guess) smile. Gorgeous gala outfit! Love your curls.

  • Katerina replied 4 years ago

Such wonderful outfits, Angie. You look gorgeous. I cannot even pick a favorite.

  • Cee replied 4 years ago

Sam should be knocking back Hollywood offers by now :D

  • cindysmith replied 4 years ago

So many great outfits, so many happy colors, so much cuteness from Sam :-)

  • Angie replied 4 years ago

Thanks so much, ladies! I appreciate the kind words and compliments. Sam too :)

Nemosmom, doing ballet as a child stays with you!

Lisa P, thanks for the cheerleading and kind words. You have to be careful when you go to a Gala because you could end up wearing the same thing as some one else. This outfit is less risky.

Kelly, Firecracker, The Cat and Jane, you are as gracious as ever.

    FashIntern, there you go.

Bonnie, Cardiff Girl, Brooklyn, Helena, Katerina, Kyle, Cindy and Sara, you are lovely.

    MidwesternChic, go for it.

Inge, RobinF and DeAnna, I’m loving mustard! It’s a fab shirt. Highly recommend it.

Madeline and Liesbeth, see Find below. I love that Aviator jacket.

Chris, they are OLD Franco Sarto low heeled pumps. See Finds.

Bijou, your Gala outfit validation means a lot because you are Queen Fancy Frock!

Lyn67 and Cee, you crack me up. Thanks! :)

Suz, YES. That’s exactly what I loved about the sequin top too. And the pattern, and the puffy sleeves…..

Taylor, your hair love means a lot! Hugs, and thanks for being so gracious.

Laura, NOOOO! Now we aren’t aviator jacket twins. What are you smoking? :) - and thanks for the ‘80s hair love. I know you get it...

Style Fan, thanks for inspiring the BR jeans. I love them.

kkards, Sam teaches me to be stylish.

Rebekahphoto, great gold jacket, and I’ll have a word with hubs….

  • Cee replied 4 years ago

Tell Sam to avoid the cocaine and party route !

  • Karen replied 4 years ago

nice bright colours! Oh, how I would love to bump into you while visiting Seattle!

  • Angie replied 4 years ago

Karen, how lovely that you chimed in :)

  • replied 4 years ago

Especially love the mustard blouse on you, and of course the gala outfit! And aww to Sam :)

  • Angie replied 4 years ago

    Thanks :)

  • crst replied 4 years ago

Very cute!  I agree, those jeans are very comfortable and fit great.  BR is hitting it out of the ball park this season!

Just out of curiosity, did you order the short length?  I did, even though I am average height, so they would be around that length.  Trying to work up my comfort level to wear them a little shorter than I have previously worn jeans. Jean comfort is high, comfort level not there yet but close...

  • Angie replied 4 years ago

Cryst, I’m wearing the BR jeans at the regular length. Not the short length. They are so fun!

    Suntiger, thank you :)

  • Keturah replied 4 years ago

You look amazing!!! You always challenge me in the best way to let myself shine in my clothes. I have found lately I am afraid to trust myself and work a little too hard on fitting perfectly into some fashion box. Which just drains all the joy when I am wearing clothes, gets me all nervous and dashes my confidence . Of course I want to look good in my clothes and not just what I think I see in my head. But I love how you show us that magical blend of personality nd technique.

  • cheryl replied 4 years ago

So happy and bright! You look amazing :) hugs and love to you and Sam! :)

  • Angie replied 4 years ago

Keturah and Cheryl, you are so lovely. Thank you for your ongoing gracious and kind comments.

  • mtnsofthemoon replied 4 years ago

How the heck did I miss this post?  Work has been insane the past several months.  I love, love, love your outfits.  As one who loves color as you its "Eye Candy" for me.  And I can't get over how you can rock those funky mustard converse!!!

  • JuniperGreen replied 4 years ago

LOVE seeing you and your style in action!!!
